      That's not correct. All Indoeuropean languages stem from the same root language. So Persian, Icelandic and Russian is equally old.

      @nmvhr 4 года назад +5

      @@Felixxxxxxxxx no they branch off at different times so some can be older but Persian comes from the indo-european to indo-aryan split which means that there were older languages from the european branch which split further at the time Persian was made. Plus there are likely lots languages older than indo-european ones just one example is the language spoken in Egypt but others may also have just died or have not been discovered.

    In Tatar language we also have the words "shifahanä", "äflisun", "zäñgär", but the last one has a different meaning, it means "blue", not "green". Also, being Tatar and Turkish speaker, I guessed the meaning of most words. Persian indeed had really big influence on Turkic languages.

      That! And the fact that some of these words that you mentioned you share with that Pamirian girl are actually not in Standard Persian. But they are in Pamirian which is an Iranian language of it’s own, but I can’t help but to think that Tatars share those with Pamirians probably due to the fact that Pamirians were the Iranians who lived in eurasian step before the Turkic arrival and most likely ancestor of many Tatars.

      This is incorrect. Most, if not all, afghans and farsi speakers in afghanistan are aware of the language being called by the name Dari. However that term is mostly used by outsiders to differentiate between Iranian farsi and afghan farsi.
      Some people call it dari, some farsi, and most people don’t really care and will call it either.
