    These bushi reveal in every movement that this dojo is no joke.

    It's Hontai Yōshin-ryū jūjutsu aka (Fumon Yōshin-ryū). Created by Minaki Saburō in 1939.

    It's not Takagi Yoshin ryu or Hontai Takagi Yoshin ry . Its hontai yoshin ryu. Copletely diferent of takagi yoshin ryu.

      even though this indeed is hontai yoshin ryu (as clearly stated in the video). It actually shares close lineage with takagi yoshin ryu, you could go as far as to call it Hontai Yoshin ryu Mizuta Den. If memory serves me right however, the Mizuta den lacks the buki parts from the main line which is instead taught through the kukishin schools.

    The hanbo looks to be a swap from the Bokken in kukishin .

    Japanese pronounce it clearly like jiu jitsu but say ju jutsu is the correct notation.

    Don't they say something about Kukishin ryu when introducing the bojutsu part ?

    • @umaryu
      @umaryu 4 года назад

      Yes because Kukishin Ryu Bojutsu is found in Takagi Ryu

    • @brandonshukuri6487
      @brandonshukuri6487 3 года назад +2

      The story is that the 7th headmaster of Kukishin ryu, Kuki Kiyotaka met a master of Takagi Yoshin ryu and found that Takagi ryu had better taijutsu in a lot of areas so it was systemized into Kukishin ryu from that point. Conversely, the Takagi ryu master found the bojutsu of Kukishin to be superior and hence the schools merge into what you see here.

    What is the relation to Takagi yoshin ryu in the Bujinkan? If at all?

    • @jasonpowell4007
      @jasonpowell4007 5 лет назад +2

      It is one of the 9 schools that comprises their curriculum. It was passed on to Masaaki Hatsumi by his teacher, Toshitsugu Takamatsu. This video features a different branch of the same style.

    Nicely PIRATED version on the Budokan series video. Shame.

    • @jjs3890
      @jjs3890 5 лет назад

      Only this was around centuries before judo...which is a safer version of jujitsu. So te hnically, judo "pirated" jujutsu.

    Kodokan Judo more relevant to unarmed combat than this. So is Catch as Catch Can Wrestling. Western boxing y Okinawan Kara te have more relevant strikes than this. Even Filipino bolo arts y European saber attack weapons hand before go for kill to prevent the sword counters shown in this art. If this art was ever relevant y not made up, it lost its practical applications long ago. Kodokan Judo Japan most practical unarmed combat art so Japan police train Judo.

      Judo was allowed standard pratice because its a sport. Jujutsu schools were mandated to remove combat pratice (drills, sparring etc) a long after the samurai were outlawed because it was no longer acceptable. Samurai jujutsu schools that remained were only allowed to train in kata for historical purposes. Judo is a gentle version of jujutsu and is safer to train and pratice. It's very rare to se samurai jujutsu raining similar to how the samurai trained in it. Jujutsu was an art of was, judo is a sport

      Minaki Sensei has tested this art under WWII in China, Manchu, like others. Its a solid art.
