To those new to the channel, Bill means what he says when he says Cali Moto TV are active in the comments section (actually I don’t think he mentioned that in this video). Sorry, this is going to be a long comment. Like I said in the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer video, had either of these bikes been around when I, as a returning biker, bought my R nineT Racer, either would have been a more sensible choice - I’m so happy I didn’t have to make that choice. Forty years ago my brother bought a 1965 Royal Enfield 250 Continental GT, it was very competitive with my 1980 Honda 250RS, also single cylinder but with 4 valves. Royal Enfield made some nice bikes before closing in England in 1970. The Indian company is completely different and started to make 350 Bullets in 1955 from tooling supplied from the British company. For many years the Bullet was their only product, isolated from the outside world in the protected Indian market but at the same perfectly suited to it. It’s true to say Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle “brand” in continuous production, since 1901. Royal Enfield are now thoroughly modern with great heritage and value for money. They now have a UK design centre, where I believe the 650’s were designed. If you don’t already watch her, check out Itchy Boots on RUclips, the worlds most famous Himalayan rider. If you are still with me, Bill, my Racer had zero static sag so I am interested in how many mm (or inches) you have your rear suspension adjusted to? I appreciate I am a bit lighter than you so I will bear that in mind. Thanks!
Yea, RE has lots of cool military and racing history. I had always thought Harley was the oldest bike manufacturer being founded in 1903, but RE beat them by two years. I also thought that the Sportster was the oldest motorcycle model in production (began in 1957), but nope it was the RE Bullet from the 1930s. RE finally discontinued the single just in March. Love my Continental --- I actually sold my old Sportster to get the money to buy it!

If u guys skeptical abt buying an RE pls visit India, that too the ones we commonly use are 350cc & 500cc(pretty slow ones), 650cc twin is the fastest RE engine in production rn, its a pretty cool thing to have a budget friendly Cafe Racer. On-road prices in India 1. BMW R nineT : 21.7L Rupees (30k $) 2. Truimph Street Twin : 9L (12k $) 3. Truimph Bonneville T120 : 13L (18k $) 4. Truimph Bonneville T100 : 12L (16k $) 5. RE Continental GT 650 : 3.5L (4.7k $) We r bit confused to spend 3.5L on a motorbike, but looking at u guys, can't stop wonder how lucky we r to get one under 5000$ ❤️ from India, can't pls don't hesitate buying an RE. It's a 💎 around here.
Hey man just got news that R.E is trying to introduce a scrambler version of the 650cc gt and interceptor may be at the end of 2020 and a 800cc bobber with the collaboration of Polaris at early 2021( and this is a may be still can't be sure if you ask me). Is there a demand and will they appeal to the US market? (Sorry copy pasted and forgot to edit the last part now rectified it. 😂😂 )
This bike is not for racers or racing. Its a bike to enjoy the moments while riding. I'm sure that these bikes are so good to ride in traffic, on streets and city roads.
I am fortunate enough to visit thier manufacturing plant in Chennai India. I own Classic 500 Desert Storm which costed me around 2700 USD. Continental GT is 4000 USD in India. And let me tell you It is Harley Davidson of India😉.
You failed to show and talk about the important thing about this bike, the sound, especially at low speed/rpm....that's one of the things what it makes it popular in India
Bought the Interceptor, the other of the twins, 3 days and I have been covered by RE for plus 2 years at just US$70. In India of course. May not come to US considering the number sold there, but that's just to give the idea of reliability and confidence of RE on the product. Happy note :)
Actually, it's THE oldest continuous motorcycle manufacturer. They build bikes since 1901. Another thing is, that this is one of the last examples of no-nonsense bikes, and obviously, a lot of people appreciate that when we have a look at RE sales figures, especially here in Europe. Some marketing gurus should have some second thoughts I guess. Finally, the bike is not that cheap, in direct comparison to the competitors in the middle class, you just don't have to pay for stuff you don't need or want!
It is a very refined engine with linear power delivery at mid and low rev range, v7 is a bit more powerful which shows in higher rpm and more vibrations comparatively.
6:25 I found no evidence of them making needles. Royal Enfield is an offshoot of the Royal Small Arms Factory which was situated in Enfield, London and made muskets and rifles since 1816, most famously the Lee-Enfield bolt action rifle and the Bren submachine gun. Royal Enfield started motorcycle production in 1901. Similar really to BSA (British Small Arms).
@@CaliMotoTV Ahh, makes sense. The History I found started off with Royal Small Arms wanting t go into engine/motorbike production and buying a company in Redditch. They didn't mention that that company made needles but it makes sense since there were a LOT of needle manufacturers in Redditch, you see that everywhere when you go to the centre of Redditch. Btw the Bren guns name comes from BRno (a czech town and arms company) and ENfield. As a German I have great respect for czech engineering and beer making!
@@CaliMotoTV I could bathe in that glory but honestly it is just wikipedia and coincidence. The coincidence being that I live in Birmingham which is only 8 miles or so from Redditch and my wife happens to work there at the moment hence I've seen them being very proud of having once made 80% of the world's needle production. That place has bugger all else going for it, that and being the birth place of John Bonham. ;) I like wiki for company histories because you get the warty bits edited out of their own published ones.

I had a GT Continental in 70s best gear box on any bike I've ever rode .
Only 4 cogs but lite as feather, as for gear indicators never understood that, i dont need to look at my cars gear stick to stir the pudding.
Watching from Australia, why don't you mention why the cost is low, because it is made in India. Have ridden the Bullet in India a long time ago. Very durable and solid bikes.
If u guys skeptical abt buying an RE pls visit India, that too the ones we commonly use are 350cc & 500cc(pretty slow ones), 650cc twin is the fastest RE engine in production rn, its a pretty cool thing to have a budget friendly Cafe Racer.
On-road prices in India
1. BMW R nineT : 21.7L Rupees (30k $)
2. Truimph Street Twin : 9L (12k $)
3. Truimph Bonneville T120 : 13L (18k $)
4. Truimph Bonneville T100 : 12L (16k $)
5. RE Continental GT 650 : 3.5L (4.7k $)
We r bit confused to spend 3.5L on a motorbike, but looking at u guys, can't stop wonder how lucky we r to get one under 5000$
❤️ from India, can't pls don't hesitate buying an RE. It's a 💎 around here.
Indian built motorcycle RE...
Proud
Hey man just got news that R.E is trying to introduce a scrambler version of the 650cc gt and interceptor may be at the end of 2020 and a 800cc bobber with the collaboration of Polaris at early 2021( and this is a may be still can't be sure if you ask me).
Is there a demand and will they appeal to the US market?
(Sorry copy pasted and forgot to edit the last part now rectified it. 😂😂 )
Great review! Mayhem rules! 👌
Did u had back pain or wrist problems riding for long...
This bike is not for racers or racing. Its a bike to enjoy the moments while riding. I'm sure that these bikes are so good to ride in traffic, on streets and city roads.
Can I start riding on this bike??
This bike is arround $4000
In where i live...
Will you also be reviewing the Himalayan??
What do you think of the meteor 350 vs the continental 650, I ask cuz I wanna get either or but the hp difference is real but still is a lovely bike
We don't have the 350s here
Mirrors always lose at every ride.do you ride 350 re before ride 650 gt.if you want to check real difference in 2020 and classic re .
Nice review
Thanks for watching 🙏
proud to be a part of royal enfield india 🇮🇳
🤔You really did not make a complete stop at the stop sign... did you ???
actually this is the more refined vehicle from Royal Enfield but to the 650s power is bit low may be 50+ps power will be awesome...
Your left mirror was losend! Why is it because of vibration ? My 2013 model classic 350 had same issue !! Handle vibration alot
lol shows that you never rode a 650, it has no vibrations, that very unlike of royal Enfield a but it's true
I am fortunate enough to visit thier manufacturing plant in Chennai India. I own Classic 500 Desert Storm which costed me around 2700 USD.
Continental GT is 4000 USD in India.
And let me tell you It is Harley Davidson of India😉.
ROYAL ENFIELD RULES!
No words I love RE
i think for this price point one should go for triumph street twin
Love from India 😍
You failed to show and talk about the important thing about this bike, the sound, especially at low speed/rpm....that's one of the things what it makes it popular in India
Also RE HIMALAYAN is also an best off road Adventure bike you will also love it . LOVE From INDIA😎😎
This is nice bike buddy.
Thanks bro great describe...😃👍👌
How does it ride over bumpy tarmac? Some reviewers reported that the front felt a bit twitchy @ speeds over 75mph/120kmh.
@@CaliMotoTV thank you.
Beauty & Beast
I hope to own one of these one day
Torque is Not 40 it's 55
I am 6 feet tall.. will this bike suite me?
Bought the Interceptor, the other of the twins, 3 days and I have been covered by RE for plus 2 years at just US$70. In India of course. May not come to US considering the number sold there, but that's just to give the idea of reliability and confidence of RE on the product. Happy note :)
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is named as the Royal Enfield INT 650 in the United States!
I think 🤔 they design team should more work on a royal Enfld on continental & interceptor
What is everyone paying for these bikes? Is there any room for negotiation of are dealers not moving off MSRP ?
@@CaliMotoTV well, I paid msrp after all. Not sure what the dealer makes but perhaps not too much
RE sells 850K motorcycles every year......very respected brand in India, used by Army & Police
Wow nice motor bike very much i like
They should launch Himalayan 650 and more colors for GT
In india you can see #RE in every towns & Streets. And sometimes high school students also will take a short ride with RE.😅😁
Please review Suzuki VStorm 650
How does this engine feel, power wise to the MG V7?
It is a very refined engine with linear power delivery at mid and low rev range, v7 is a bit more powerful which shows in higher rpm and more vibrations comparatively.
I have first unit of gt 🔥🔥🔥
Is that Harley Davidson is king in usa instead of royal Enfield???🤔
That place has bugger all else going for it, that and being the birth place of John Bonham. ;)
I like wiki for company histories because you get the warty bits edited out of their own published ones.
Which motor do you prefer? V7 guzzi or Enfield? Thanks
Ok thanks, I've had a v7 ll just wondering how much difference in power. Thought the guzzi ran out of puff a bit up the Rev range. I'm looking at getting a Conti gt and thought it might have a bit more poke! Regards from New Zealand.
I think Caffe Racers started in the 50's not 60's
I’m a newbie rider, I think that could be a good bike for me.
Try to go for classic or meteor instead of this. They are cheaper also.
Love this machine ❤️ i have one ✌🏻😇
