Have you ever tried to write a song but couldn't finish it?

Yes!! 🙋‍♂️ thankful for this conversation! The worship song I just released took me 8 years to finish! 😬

YES! That feels like the most obvious question. Do you mean there is hope of better?!? 😆 Sigh. I have been writing a little for years. I know it is time for me to start telling my story in a new way. Thank you for this podcast.

I love you Rita. And, I am a Rita Springer ride or die. Your music has brought so much healing to my life of CPTSD.
And, yes, I start many songs and they drop off. But, I did have a couple of Christian songs on Christian radio thru the mid west back in 1990.
Girl, I am an oldie! ❤️💯

I'm almost sixty and have wanted to be a songwriter since I was seventeen. I thought I would learn if I majored in music in college, but they just taught me how to breathe and sight read and pronounce other languages, etc. I don't know how to finish a song. I usually end up with just snippets of songs that don't become whole songs. My biggest success was when I was living in the US, singing on a worship team with freedom to sing spontaneous songs over the chords and rhythms being played - but then my husband and I moved to Honduras as missionaries.. we've been here for sixteen years, and now we don't even have a church to attend in person. I feel I have reached a dead end.

SO many of my favorites I see Jessie wrote or co-wrote! So awesome! Loved hearing from her! She's so talented! The Pure album is one of my most favorite albums! I am such a fan of songs, too! Love ALL kinds of music! Would love to write songs! Been praying about it. Thank you both for the beautiful music and inspiration!

Oh I’m already loving this because Jessie is talking about how she grew up going to Belmont Church which was my home church when I lived in Nashville in the 90s (before my body crashed with EBV and Lyme disease). I’m so grateful and am forever marked by Don Finto and Stephen Mansfield who were both my pastors. Don Finto was the pastor who took over Belmont Church in 1971 (I think after getting “dismissed” from being a professor at Lipscomb College due to his theology no longer being compatible with Church of Christ) and Papa Don was used in a powerful way to usher in the Jesus movement in the Nashville area. ♥️

I’m clueless on this topic but God began stirring something in my heart last year and a seed was planted. So… is it possible to become a song writer if you have ZERO musical/vocal skills? OR is the first step going to be to learn an instrument no matter how gifted one is with words?

I feel the same way!! I've been pondering it for a while, I think I've even tried maybe when I was younger. Instruments have always been difficult for me and I quit... But I think the Lord is guiding me slowly to re think how I think it should be done and just love on him and what comes out comes out.

I've played in 22+ secular bands and 15+ worship bands. When I discovers PSAALM Tucson type music I studied for last 4 years (documented on my channel's website on the About tab), I won't go back to pre-composing music. Vast difference having the Spirit guide you in the moment! David's New Song and Paul's Spirit-kind of Odes (psalms & hymns created by the Spirit, just like tongues - the "mind is unproductive," thus not producing, per 1 Corinthians 14:14-15, Paul will do both). Prophetic, Spontaneous, Anointed, Acoustic (unplugged), Light going out IN the world (not telling the world to come into your "basket covering the light"), Music = PSAALM. I AM hooked - I've been keeping note on the website to help others.

Constantly. But I generally consider either it’s not ready yet or it’s a co-writer. Almost like soaking in tongues and having an interpretation. I have the initial concept but need a partner (s) to complete.

Yamaha reface link? I was thinking I would need to learn guitar to hit the road but, perhaps a mini keyboard...

Asking a question are we supposed to be listening to worldly music to inspire us for Christian songs ! asking kindly ? …..these songs are to honor and glorify our heavenly father God, in the name of Jesus. Why would we listen to worldly music to get inspiration ….I’m just asking…….Rita kindly respond … I’d like I’d like to hear somebody answer this question and how they feel please? 🙏

I know you want Rita to respond but I can’t help myself… I understand your point with this of course if the content is inappropriate but Chris Stapleton and others have music and songs that are JUST good and creative sound and even lyric wise which can be inspiration for a Christian songwriter to make it their own…. Music is not all evil and I think Christians get highly religious yes we are to use discernment but God loves music He created it…. I think if we use the Holy Spirit or our God given wisdom we know what is ok and not ok to listen to

    • @Truth0516
      @Truth0516 3 месяца назад

I am fine if you responded...👍
First of all, I’m not religious. True Christianity has nothing to do with religion…. Christianity is about relationship with our Father God… through our Lord Jesus Christ…..👑🕊️
      I am not religious….I just understand that I … we…serve a Holy God …
I know how the Holy Spirit has been leading me for years how to live my life… yes…especially when it comes to music,… meaning ….what I listen to and even what I watch on TV….
There are evil spirits in certain things…. like music TV and movies ..that many people aren’t aware of…….
This I am 100% positive of because …..I was our God …showed me this…… and yes, discernment is needed … so we know what our God wants from us personally as well……
      Thanks for the response…
I don’t compromise my life or my walk with the Lord for anyone or-anything …..
      I’d rather be cautious
I learned that the Holy Spirit respectfully saying is the one who guides me .. inspires me…in my music…and in life definitely
