Since the beginning of the pandemic there has been an unusually high market demand placed on small chest freezers. Subsequently manufacturers are still scrambling to catch up.
After a number of futile attempts at purchasing the handful of brands I was familiar with I ended up finding a Danby Model #DCF072A4WP 7.2 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer in stock at my local Home Depot.
I cannot adequately explain why I harbored a prejudice towards this brand. In hindsight my misgivings were based entirely on the fact that it was always priced at or near the bottom of its class.
But now with the industry leading 5 year warranty offered by Danby I felt confident enough to buy one. I strongly recommend this product.
I would suggest that the freezer is not something that can easily be ordered online and likely makes more sense to stop into your local appliance stores that offer this Danby model. The collapsible storage baskets are not as easy to find but can be purchased here: amzn.to/3r38TvG

Just purchased this freezer from Costco - thank you for the excellent review. Good to know that there is no lock or light, but better to know that it's a quality freezer that works well. Also looking for the baskets on Amazon now. Thank you!

Heyy sir thank u so much for ur video , even after years I love the help , can I ask exactly what’s the lowest temperature u goes down too? Even tho it says negative 14-*f , I don’t believe that , what’s the slowest urs got ?
I've never tested it and have no plans to. I simply left the temperature setting the way it came from the factory and have not had to change it since I first plugged it in. This freezer is still going strong with no issues.
I already bought this and just let it play once I realized what I was watching because I wish more people made videos like this.
Then I saw the wheels. Somehow I never noticed mine has wheels, and have it sitting on the styrofoam it was packed in...

The temperature control knob colours signifies what exactly? Blue is the most cold temperature you can get or is it the opposite?
The blue line is widest at the coldest setting. In other words: turning the dial clockwise lowers the freezer temperature.

I have it on a 15 amp dedicated circuit and have had no issues. That's all I can tell you.
Where to find the serial number of this freezer ? I m having trouble locating the serial number of this freezer.
Hi Becky - There is usually a silver sticker on these models on the back near the top. You have probably already seen where it shows the model number prominently but the serial number is there, it is just much smaller and harder to find.
I had difficulty finding it as well.

I'm not having that issue so all I can suggest is adjust the temperature slightly.
Is this antifreeze or do you need to defrost the ice.
If you mean "self defrosting"....no it is not. It is a manual defrost unit but after 2 years of use, I have not had to defrost it yet.
There is a small amount of frost buildup at this point which prompts me to guess that a defrost will be needed within the first 3-4 years of use.
Can you use it as refrigerator?
My understanding is that any freezer can be used as a refrigerator with the addition of a refrigerator thermostat.

I'm still quite happy with it. It is in the midst of its second sub zero temperature winter and it has not yet needed defrosting. I keep it as full as I can ...it has been set and forget since I plugged it in.
@@GoldlynxRecipesandReviews thanks any recomendation on temperature knob position 1/4 ,1/2, 3/4 also in your experience how long will meat last before freezer burn or freezer taste. Thanks again.
@@jahcure04 - My freezer is set at the 3/4 mark on the dial. I have never experienced freezer burn but so far the longest length of time I have had an item in the freezer was a cryo-vacced turkey for 12 weeks.
