i wish there was a video out there exploring more unorthodox ways to try getting advantage. like i want 20 ideas that are all like "try pushing them over while they stand on something slippery" or "you could bash their head into a wall!"
What are you trying to get advantage on?
My main pc is a bard with a background in inspiration reminders!
Thanks for these videos Fred really helpful for my new group.
You are welcome.
Got the game yesterday thanks buddy it helped a lot
Glad I could help :)
Great video Fred
Thank you.
I wish I had that list to gain advantage on ranged attacks :)
Glad you liked the video.
Do ranged attacks get adv against a grappled or restrained enemy?
What minis would you recommend getting for dnd. As in monsters not brands
Goblins, kobolds, orcs, gnolls, spiders, etc. I bought cheap plastic spiders on ebay for like $4 for 6 and they work great as giant spiders.
Goblins, orcs, kobolds, gnolls, spiders, skeletons, zombies. Does depend on what you need.
I know I'm late to the party, but here's a combination for you. Be a Shadow Sorcerer at level 3, you can spend 2 sorcery points to cast the Darkness spell that you can see into, that doesn't count against any used spells. Toss a rock or something by by your enemy, cast Darkness on it, and boom guaranteed advantage on everything you do.
leaving all your party blind as well
mounted combat sneak attack advantage rouge
Yeah.
The rules for Surprise don't say anything about getting advantage on attacks, but I suppose an enemy who can't move or attack is already considered a type of advantageous event?
That is correct. But if a creatures surprises the enemy and can't be seen, they get advantage on attacks.
Does anybody know how to give Vulnerability to bludgeoning, slashing, or piercing damage to an enemy? I've got a warlock fighter and i want to cast hex as a bonus action but use my action to somehow make them vulnerable to slashing so i can move in with my sword. I can't cast two spells so i need a magic item, or a potion, or an ability that makes a target vulnerable to slashing damage. Any ideas?
I am not aware of any way to do it.
@@HowtoRPG well crap lol
There’s the Grave Cleric’s Channel Divinity that makes an opponent vulnerable to all damage from the next attack that hits it.
@@xdecatron2985 Thanks! I also learned that the Hallow spell can be used to give someone vulnerability to anything other than piercing, slashing, or bludgeoning under certain circumstances So it'll give the opposite of what i wanted lol
I don't understand why ranged characters don't get advantage as easily as melee ones.
For example, like it was said in the video if a monster is knocked prone by a pc the ranged pcs will not get advantage so it's optimal to knock a monster prone while there are melee party members that can close in and score some advantage rolls.
I don't see why ranged characters aren't granted advantage like the melee ones in such scenario, imo a downed enemy is quite easier to hit with a ranged attack therefore ranged attackers should also be rewarded with advantage.
Anyway, I've ran into many DMs that go by this rule and don't give ranged characters advantage as often as they give melee ones, I on the other hand, prefere to give ranged characters advantage in almost every case a melee one would get.
Not in d&d 5e. Disadvantage is applied to attack rolls for ranged attacks if the target is prone.
If someone is laying on the ground they have a lower profile, making it harder to hit them. This is why combat snipers lay down prone.
Isn’t the distance they have as range attackers the small “a” advantage they have though, I also consider Advantage on attack roles as more of a way to prevent the attack another turn in the combat round, the equivalent being the enemy target using a turn to get in range of the range attacker... lol how insane would it be if enemy targets in plain view would also a mechanic to get Advantage on their targets
pitty I cannot put more than 1 dislike!
I feel the same way.
