You don’t have to time it on your phone. When it displays the previous used minutes, use the minus sign to lower that down to 5. The machine will beep when the 5 minutes are up.
Just tried this and it is a very good method. I used the normal amount of seasoning I usually do when I grill my steaks. I'll put more seasoning on next time.
I just got one for mothers day from my daughter,. Used it tonite. Great thing! Watching your how to on this was informative, sweet and you two are fun! Keep it up. Hugs :)
Nice video. Your boy friend is good to cook for you. There are a lot of videos by pros to cook steak by instant pot but I like yours since I want to see a person like me with no experience at all how to cook it. Make me laughing when I heard you ask a lot of questions I would ask too. ie: How do you know to put a cup of water to clean the black stuff stick to the pot ? LOL. Thank you for bringing this video to us. I just cooked my first steak using my new Instant Pot Duo 8QT. Taste real good. btw - I like pan fried steak better. Has that burned taste like grilled ones.
Awww!! What a sweet comment! Thank you so much!! Yes, I am not a pro chef LOL. And that's okay! 🤣 All the questions I asked were 100% genuine! Glad you enjoyed this video 🥰 And yes, pan fried steak is soo good!!!
The actual pressure time was 2 minutes. He started at 45 and it went down to 43. Not sure what the whole phone timer thing was about. Think I will stick with my cast iron.
I have the most wonderful Quick Pot pressure cooker but i don't believe they exist any longer. It's really user friendly, and i dread the day it goes bad! If you get lucky enough to find one brand new, though l, try it out!
Thanks for the feedback! I will be sure to make that more clear in my next video :) The recipe is in the video caption, but for seasoning I used only salt and pepper, then topped it with the melted butter!
For this particular recipe they only need water b/c they’re not consuming the deglazed liquid. The water was added to pressurize the pot, in order to cook the insides of the steak.
Instead of water just cook it in the butter, the water extracts the flavor from the meat. Turned out like a bland shoe on my end. 1.5min each side & 2minutes on pressure cook in the instant pot. Good texture.

if you think cooking a steak in an instand pot was wonderful, wait till you try a thing call a grill! it's this contraption that has coals on the bottom with a metal grate. you light the coals on fire, let it sit for 10 or so minutes then u put the steak on the hot grate and the flavor you get from the charcoal is nice..
Video is way too long for what it offers. Also, do you need to tenderize the steak? Also, when you first seared the steak, did the instant pot need to be on Sauté normal or high? Cool butter hack. 🤷🏾♂️
@@sugarfreeselfcare my gf is vegetarian and so I only need to cook one steak at a time, and I might/ maybe try this. Thanks for showing us how YOU do it. It's fun to experiment
Pressure is done with steam so pressure is steaming, though steaming isn't always pressurized. Neither is a recommended way for cooking tender beef, though obviously you got a cooked steak.
Come on guys! I was expecting the finale of cutting into the steak!
Totally right 😩 Can't believe we forgot!! We will be sure to do this in the next steak video!!
I bet they did but it didn't look good enough for the video. I had the same anticipation 😭
haha was waiting for it:(

Awesome!! Glad it worked out for you!! What kind of seasoning do you put on your steaks?
I’m literally watching a how to cook video by people that don’t know how to cook...
I guess Im kind of randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to stream new series online ?
@Greyson Forrest Flixportal xD
@Maxwell Dayton Thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it !
@Greyson Forrest glad I could help xD

Awesome!! Glad you enjoyed the video!! Instant Pots are a game changer hahaha. Happy Mother's Day!
I just got a Insta pot yesterday, mine doesn’t have the pressure cooker. It’s a older model it has the instructions with it.
I have an actual R2D2 Instant pot LOL! Got it off Amazon.
Omg that exists?!?! Hahaha I love it!!!
Thanks, I didn't know these existed.
Dude looks like Steve Rogers before the transformation lol
LMAO!! Michael agrees with you ahaha!! He would say the same exact thing to people 🤣🤣
Lol 😂
😂😂😂
You two should do more RUclips videos together I enjoyed you
Hilarious
I tried for the first time looking at your video. You made my husband happy tonight. He loved my steak🤩🤩🤩. Thank you 😇

I would of like to see how done it was
Use a spoon or anything to turn the pressure valve, not your finger.
Great tip!! Thank you so much!!
This is what I was planning to do with my NY steak in about 2 hours. This is a CHARMING VIDEO. THANKS!
"Aint nobody have time for that" lol speaking my language! I am definitely going to try this tonight. Thank you!
LOL!! Love to meet people who are on the same wavelength 😂
Lol could of melted butter in the instapot so much for that degree lol
Thanks

How did it turn out? I am wondering if it was undercooked since you didn't let it get up to pressure before starting the 5 minute countdown?
That was my bad!! I will not forget to show how the meat looks AFTER cooking! But yes, it came out about medium rare :)
@@sugarfreeselfcare medium rare is the only way to cook a steak. So if that's true, it is perfect.

What happened to cutting it so we can see ?
Good point!!! Can't believe I didn't do this lol!! Will definitely do this in my next steak video!

You could have mentioned the seasoning part while editing the video.
Thanks for the feedback! I will be sure to make that more clear in my next video :) The recipe is in the video caption, but for seasoning I used only salt and pepper, then topped it with the melted butter!
Why didn’t you just melt the butter and garlic in the instant pot instead of dirtying extra dishes
Great point lol! We just wanted to melt it and make it like a sauce so that we can pour it on top right before eating it :).
Gracias Maicol Super bueno 😃😃😃😃😃
Chef Michael is a fan of bone in.
Why is the microwave on the floor ?
lol! It's on the last rung of our book shelf. That was the only space we had for the microwave at the time :)
red wine or beef broth to deglaze the pot, not water.
That's a fantastic idea!! I don't drink wine, but I definitely gotta try that with the beef broth next time! Thank you Jim 😄
For this particular recipe they only need water b/c they’re not consuming the deglazed liquid. The water was added to pressurize the pot, in order to cook the insides of the steak.
What's your favorite book?

Try using some red wine and throw in some mushrooms.
Why did you not cut the cooked steak open to see how appealing it might be. I think you got the timing completely messed up for Instant Pot cooking.
No onions?
Omg. Thank you so much for this video. Mine is so tasty 😊
You're so welcome!! Glad you enjoyed it 🥰

You didn’t cut it open to show us. And does instant steam release not toughen the steak? I give you a 7 out of ten…!
I was promised a medium steak and I saw no proof of it...
Nonononononoooo. I love my instant pot, but you don't pressure cook tender cuts of beef.
Why didn't you show us what it looked like on the inside by cutting it open
You know its crap when they don't actually taste it.
It tasted delicious! We just forgot to film it 😭

best in flavour worst in health because of the charcoal forming polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

Hi there! No, you don't need to tenderize the steak. When you sear the steak, the instant pot needs to be on saute high. 🥩
Too irritating

You lose flavor with steaming the steak. Just saute it with the lid open.
