Red Orchestra 2 should scratch that itch for you just fine - also the Pacific theater with the Rising Sun add on and the Western Front with Heroes of the West.

Yes, that's true, it would be cool if there was a game that recognize when there are (this is an example) a lot of players in a place that are shooting, basically like the engine of Call Of Duty that show you on the map the enemies that are shooting, but in this case this engine would work only in a little space when enemies are shooting near to you and it would show another reload animation (for every gun) That is faster

Now a days magazines are better and pretty much universal in rifles, where in WW2 it was first being widely used as they transitioned from stripper clips w/ bolt action rifles. Smacking the magazine on your helmet these days like in the movies makes you look like a bit of a tool since you can seat the rounds by simply tapping the mag in your hand during loading of the magazines.

But thats just my experience, I'm sure someone else can say something different. We also have to take into consideration 100 years difference in manufacturing knowledge, methods, machine quality, resource quality, the fact they needed magazines for a war *now* and not having the luxury of being in peacetime... etc. It is something that's generally discouraged only because the whole helmet tap thing was popularized by Saving Private Ryan, and at least 1 recruit does it when loading mags, or loading their rifle at some point. You look like a tool, don't do it. The majority of firefights don't involve anything but running and throwing yourself into a prone/cover. Checking the mag prior to a reload and tapping it in your hand is enough. The rounds don't move in the mags that much. That being said, yes, do what you need to survive. If you're literally jumping off the boat in Machine gun alley with barely any cover just like in the movie, then I'd be an idiot to argue against it. But its unecessary in most circumstances as it isn't usually needed, and is just a cool movie shot. Irl its silly.
It's a balancing thing, they wanted to have realistic reload for the Thompson (you don't have to pull the bolt back for empty reloads on Thompson, it holds the bolt open for you) so they added the mag tap to make the reload longer

Can somebody tell me why he slaps the gun with the magazine at 5:00? Never actually found out why they do that in some games instead of pulling the bolt back. Is it to clear any potential jams? Or to clear the chamber? I know open bolt guns are very prone to accidental discharges. One more thing I'm not quite sure about: isn't the gun "charged" when you stop shooting when the last round has been fired? Does this keep you from having to actually pull the bolt back like with an AK and instead only needing to change the magazine? Because the bolt only closes when you dry fire it as far as I know.
Not only that, you can play it solo, but you can also make a listen server for you and your friends to play and it'll fill the rest of the players with bots.
