I love the fact that since the suppressed XM21 uses subsonic rounds the pressure isn’t enough to cycle the bolt. Such a lovely touch.
RS2 is great, guns are realistic and fun, matches are insane and the Vietnam War roleplay in the chat is just hilarious.

Wish some WWII holdovers that were used in Vietnam such as the MG34 and the Bren gun were in the game, as well as the historical Mk. 22 Hush Puppy and some more revolvers, but still amazing overall.
They have the Mosin, PPSH, Grease Gun, DP-28, Ithaca 37, and Garand (also technically the SKS-45), but yeah some more would have been cool. The Vietnamese also used STG-44s, and the US still had some 1903s and 1917s
French also used the Gewehr-43 before the MAS-49 was ready. FG-42 was a hot item, too. Yugoslav version of the MP-40, the M-56, was around, too.

Honestly the weapon models, textures, sounds and animations are better even than Battlefield.These are simply the best of the best.Maybe Squad weapons come close to these.

I think the weapons sound really lame - looking at the sound files, several appear to be cut straight from Global Offensive, which is an odd choice if they were going for realism
The sounds are from pubg and csgo and the textures are worse than cods. Not to mention the animation looks like they came straight from a low budget ps3 game

Love the detail with the XM21 suppressed. The subsonic loads don’t actuate the bolt so you have to manually cycle each round.

The contemporary fad that makes a lot of games full of historical mistakes, just to satisfy, the needs of a larger audience (perhaps younger and less critical), make this kind of game and its realistic approach even more valuable.

They are not necessarily younger or less critical, they just enjoy a more chill experience and find enjoyment out of the gameplay more than historical accuracy or how realistic they are.

It's called art and game play direction, most people find action movies more appealing than documentaries.
I really like how the recoil patterns are really realistic. The muzzle actually jumps up, instead of your entire camera view shifting upward to simulate recoil.
They even made it so that weapons with more in-line stocks recoil straight backwards, and ones with higher bore-axes climb upwards. Very nice!

There is a minor mistake in the gun graphic drawn. Notice there were two AK-47s? The first AK was a Chinese Type-56 with a close hooded front sight. The second AK with a open hooded front sight, was a Russian AKM, but the front rivets pattern on the receiver was wrong.

Still don’t understand why they got rid of the barrel changing mechanic from red orchestra and rising storm 1. It added a lot to the tactics for LMGs and was great for balancing
L Wilbur barrel changes on weapons like the m-60, RPD and browning 1919 were very hard to do in the field and was generally unseen in combat
@@jeremyortlepp8000 M1919 and DP-28 both appear in both the RS2 and RO2. Both LMG work differently in those two games- in RO2, LMGs are unable to hipshot, and you can change the barrels in reasonably short time. In RS2, you can hipshot them (their sheer heaviness are only reflected in the lower moving speed of their bearers), but you can't change the overheated barrels. So these changes are the change on game mechanics rather than reflection of the reality.
Not every machine guns has the quick barrel change ability of the MG42 unfortunately. It's not surprising that there's modern variants like the MG3 and Ameli still used today.

An SKS only fits ten rounds in the internal magazine. It's max capacity is eleven, though it would be hard to load it to eleven, seeing as how there's an internal magazine.
Can anyone tell me what the different between the Vietnamese and French MAT-49s are? I tried going back and forth between them in the video but I could only make out an assumption that the Vietnamese one has a slightly higher fire rate.
According to internet, Vietnamites MAT-49s were modified from 9mm to 7.62x25mm (same ammo that TT-33 pistol uses), hence the bigger recoil.
The Vietnamese MAT-49s also have a faster rate of fire due to the smaller caliber of the 7.62x25mm.

finn .mov ppsh with a drum is in the game you just have to select the ammo configuration with the drum before you spawn

What's the difference between the two MAT-49s?
The vietnamese MAT-49 fires a slightly smaller round (7.62x25mm compared to 9x19mm from the original MAT-49)
in-game the main difference is that the Vietnamese version fires faster and is a little more consistent with kills, while the French one shoots a little more accurate
honestly, this game is so similar to battlefield 1 (but Vietnam war duh), still, I like both bf1 and RS2

Is there any particular reason why the XM21 Suppressed has to be cycled manually? Also what is the difference between the Viet modified MAT and the OG?
XM21 Suppressed uses subsonic ammo that is too weak to cycle the bolt on its own.
The difference between the MATs is the caliber, recoil and the rate of fire (Viet MAT shoots 7.62mm Tokarev at a higher rate of fire, so more damage and more recoil; the French MAT shoots 9mm at a slightly slower rate of fire, so it's more controllable)

M14 was select-fire in real-life, but this game has semi-auto only. It's because controlling full-auto is painful and hard due to the 7,62's high recoil by larger-calibre nature.

What I still don't really like about any game that has aiming is it seems like you just slam the stock of the weapon (except in the pistol case) into your mouth and look down the sight.

The Viet one has a longer barrel so it's a little more accurate. The bullets are smaller, but faster than the 9 Luger, hitting harder but having more recoil.

We should be honest , man , this game has the best M1 Garand animations .And almost all other oned are flawless .Now , if the characters learned how to operate a slide release on a self-loading pistol and maybe improve some of how the recoil looks on a handgun , it would be flawless .
