Glad you noticed! There's several layers of procedural motion that are playing on top of each other, and it doesn't really care what you're doing at one time :)
I absolutely love how when reloading a non-empty bolt action rifle your character actually blocks the ejected round to reinsert it in the gun. Never seen that before.
@@Swisshost I'm not so sure, I've been seeing the same look on other comparison vids too. There was a .ini workaround to make the anti-aliasing filter much cleaner, but unfortunately the devs have cracked down on that fix, I've heard. I guess they don't want a fix to turn into modding

They are super smooth, the graphics are god tier, and sounds are pretty damn satisfying, like on the semi auto weapons you can even hear the click after you pull the trigger, amazing job. I also love how the firing flash of the Thompson reflects on the sight, perfect attention to detail.
The reason I really dislike moat realistic shooters is because the reload are often way too slow so they can get that realism effect, but HLL gives a good middle ground for it c:
Does it use the Squad style respawn system? IE if (big IF) there's a rally point and your squadmate takes the last spawn ticket for it then you're waiting for your dumbass SL for 10 minutes to put one down or walking across the entire map only to die and not catch a revive because the medic is out of bandages, rinse and repeat?
My only nitpick, and it’s a slight one, has to do with the Gewehr 43. Most German soldiers that were issued the G43 only had on them 2 spare magazines at the most with the weapon being reloaded using 5 round stripper clips. BF5 showed it correctly with the weapon being reloaded with stripper clips or single rounds until you unlock the detachable magazine perk. So, as this is a work in progress game, hopefully change the G43 to use stripper clips to balance it out. All the other weapons are masterfully animated and got other details right like the Bazooka having the rocket be reloaded correctly with the fuse being connected. Too many games overlook that.

I could imagine the Japanese to have a bit of a hard time in competing with the allied nations. As they do not posses any semi automatic rifles, and there sub machine guns were in short supply.
This game rocks. If you like arcade type of games and if you like to solo, this isn't for you. This game is all about realism and teamwork. The realism is off of the charts.
Thompson and MP-40. IRL: have very distinctly different fire rates and sounds. In this game: absolutely the same. Nah thanks, I have Red Orchestra for that matter.
@@raptorcell6633 The M1A1 Thompson had a fire rate of 700 RPM. This is not 700 RPM. If you watch videos of Thompson's firing and compare Ghent to this game, they are not the same.
@@raptorcell6633 That's what wikipedia and books tell. Real life Thompsons shoot roughly around 700, sometimes higher depending on the kind of bolt. 1928s shoot even higher around 800-900. Just watch a video of someone shooting one and you'll see.

I really like that detail when reloading bolt action rifles without depleting it where the soldier puts his left hand fingers over the ejector to not eject a bullet, it's a nice detail other games just ignore
Agreed, though in my opinion those are the only two things i need in a ww2 game. World at War did this great with just the eastern front and pacific. To me the western front isn't necessary if you can play as Americans in the pacific. Instead of D-Day you get Iwo Jima - pretty good trade off.
The MP-40 has the sling mount on the wrong side. It should be on the right side, not the left. But not totally unrealistic as it is possible to change side. But it's normally on the right side, that's how MP-40's left the factory.
Been deciding weather or not to buy this game.. this may have just sold me. Only thing is maybe to add momentum to those reloads. Like heck I’d be fumbling and rushing if I was getting shot at lol

Battlefield 1 and V did it. Good for keeping single loading a little bit shorter than it would be otherwise.
There’s a game called “Hunt showdowns” that has something similar. But you need a certain peel to keep the bullet

This is def my favorite WWII sim. Went to Post Scriptum due to the sound design. With these last couple updates HLL has taken the cake again.
This was recorded before update 8 and all explosion effects and sounds have been changed as well as ammo count on the mgs too.
No, the video has the M3, implemented in U8, at 01:40. Also, there's no ammo count in the game, just mag count.

Tomnguyenthetrain Thompson variants vary, the M1A1 has the slowest rate of fire of all variants so this one is pretty close.

No they dont. The Gun IRL would fire at around 600 RPM, in HLL the M1A1 fires at 600 RPM

You can definitely see the influence of BFV incase of animations after update 7.
Did you know, that the same person who worked on Battlefield 1 animations also worked with the new Hell Let Loose animations.

Only problem I have is the Thompson's rear sight. Other than that, everything else is sexy as "Hell". BAR is my favorite.

For how realistic the game is, its weird they made the Thompson shoot and sound the same as the MP40. Rate of fire should definitely be higher.

One of the features all Thompsons have. You only have to charge back when using drum mags.
