Boot disk C with [SELECT] held down. (this is [End] on blueMSX and [F7] on openMSX) You get in the soundtest. With cursors up and down, you can select difficulty. The most 'simple' looking symbol means "human" and is the easiest. Select song number 0 with [SHIFT] to exit. Back in the weapon select menu, you can now also choose the area to start in with [SELECT] + the cursor keys up/down.
Appreciate the info. I remember when I played this, I never bothered messing around with the options...I just tried to rush into the gameplay. =P But I will try this stuff out. Thanks again.
AFAIK, this is a bug in the game. Ricbit said that when booted from disk-A, it doesn't initialise the difficult setting, and it ends up being set to the max.
This game pulls no punches, hehe. But the music supports you all the way. My favorites are easily the title music and weapon select screen music. Look forward to Undeadline.
Did so... It still doesn't run 100% smoothly... Dunno why I only hear it in this particular tune since it should go for all tracks if there was some lagging going on... Strange...
No, that comment was a reaction to someone who was ripping on Hermann Cavalcante for preferring PSG over FM and has since deleted their comment. I was actually standing up for Hermann. Apart from that, it's true that people usually prefer things like media, food, art, etcetera in the form or shape they got acquainted with it. The term "nostalgia glasses" is actually a thing. Look it up if you hadn't heard of that yet. If I may give some friendly advice - assumptions aren't always automatically truth. Don't be too trigger-happy with those. And even if they were - I think I'm pretty much entitled to reply on reactions on videos that I create and upload myself, for free, in my spare time in the way I see fit. God bless.

This also works on disk-B, doesn't it?
Another Masterpiece !!!
During the game, after pushing [STOP] (pause), you can adjust the speed of your plane with left/right. Default is 6, but I like to play it on 7.
insane
Thank *you* for the music!

Did you know that this game has 3 difficulty levels which you can manually set?
AFAIK, this is a bug in the game. Ricbit said that when booted from disk-A, it doesn't initialise the difficult setting, and it ends up being set to the max.
Interesting how similar the whole thing is to Blaster Burn
Both by Compile.
Actually, I did not know that. =O Thanks for the info.

Huh, that Area 3 music sounds a lot like the Spriggan st2 theme
Both games were developed by Compile and share music staff, namely Toshiaki Sakoda and Keiji Takeuchi.
...and that the difficulty depends on the disk you boot the game with?

what's up with all the lag in stage 4? My favorite tune played from a stretched tape :/
You should probably try again. No lagging here.
Did so... It still doesn't run 100% smoothly... Dunno why I only hear it in this particular tune since it should go for all tracks if there was some lagging going on...
Strange...
PSG sound at pal speed is the real thing
That's your nostalgia speaking, which I respect, but I have recorded and published this music how it was intended by the composers.
Pal? Never.
Trident Stabilo I guess it sounds best the way you got to know it in the first place. 😀
@@Passenger-nj7in I gess... But I prefer PSG too.
I prefer the chip version.
Do you mean the PSG version? This is played by a chip, too.
Yes, yes, i know. I'm not a really fan of the FM sound on the MSX.
I think it's nostalgia. He's just used to the music like he heard it as a kid, I guess.
