The last 8 miles a brutal both mentally and physically. The crowds and music help. Tons of support and I appreciate everyone out there 🎉🎉🎉

Agreed! It’s gonna be bananas this year! I can’t wait to turn the corner onto Santa Monica and see everyone.

The only good thing of the last 8 miles, is the crowd support. But the rolling “big” hills and that 20-21 mile 😑 hate it, the only positive is that that big hill is a downhill when you turn around. But then if you didn’t pace yourself, reality check for the last 1.5 miles. So for all of those people that at the beginning thought that it was fast and easy going downhill from the stadium to downtown. Here is where you are gonna wish you could have save energy for this last 8 miles. Good luck Anthony 👍🏼

Does that mean you did 16.4miles in total that run?? That’s a big long run so close to the marathon!!! Have you chosen your shoes Anthony?? Did you end up getting the Nimbus 26?? (I think that was the shoe you were considering, right?)

No, we did only 8 miles. Yes, I will hopefully be using the Nimbus 26. Hoping to receive them this week.

I’m not sure if you remember my comment from a couple videos back. How this is going to be my third time running the LA Marathon with SRLA. In January I ran 130 miles, February 116 miles (And did the SRLA Friendship Run at my marathon pace), did my last long run of 20 miles on Saturday also at marathon pace. I’ve been trying to get under five hours. They’re very big confidence boosters as it’s looking like all the training, recovery, nutrition and hydration has been paying off. But I know now isn’t the time to slack. I myself have started a taper, it’s my first time tapering ever. Have you ever tapered/what has been your experience? Also, I feel like doing a shakeout run is not necessarily bad but would it not be better to stay off your feet as much as possible the day before the marathon?

Hi Creshen, there’s no question a taper makes a massive difference to your performance, AND it’s scientifically proven as well!! The Run Smarter channel with Brodie Sharpe has an excellent video on this if you’re interested, I HIGHLY recommend it!! As for a shakeout run the day before, that depends on each individual AND on how you feel on the day but it’s certainly not a good idea to totally stay off your feet as you do need to keep your legs turning over somewhat … but it’s certainly not the time to go sightseeing or visit a museum either 😂😂. ENJOY and all the best for breaking 5hrs!!💪🏻👍🏻💪🏻

Hey there! Yes, I sure do remember you. I am excited to hear how it goes for you. Sounds like you have had a solid training season. This is the time to taper and take it easy as Bev says. As they say, the hay is already in the barn. Meaning you already have the miles under your belt to get it done. Have fun out there.
