- I got so antsy with my indoor pond that I gave my 60 gallon (230 liter) fish tank a complete makeover! I love setting up planted aquariums, lets hope this time all of my aquatic plants don't die 😬 Do any of you have tips for good freshwater aquarium fertilizers?
I'm so happy my corydoras catfish have a beautiful new home. I just know they're gonna spawn soon :) When they were in my indoor pond, I saw NO breeding behavior at all from them 😓

That dying & regrowing leaf is a java fern; definitely! It technically doesn’t need to be planted but contrary to what many say, it actually can be planted in sand. You’ll see a small rhizome area begin to develop when it’s ready to break away from the original leaf. My only question is why keep it segregated?

Looks great! What did you do at the end of your drip acclimation airline tubing? I just tie mine in a knot or clothespin it

My tank is divided because I have viscous Yoyo loaches that harassed my cories the last time they were housed together 😅 I had 120 cory babies that would of definitely gotten eaten so I made a barrier for them! lol

Have you run into problems with your indoor pond having a bad order? If so how did you address it?
Hi ☺️ I have had problems with bad odours in the past. You could have an ammonia problem, there's a lot of ways to fix it :) but first you should find out where it's coming from (i.e. your gravel, dirty filter, dying plants, etc). After that, just clean it all up and do water changes. Maybe add more cycled media or beneficial bacteria 😁

White and black sand show alot of junk on the surface. I would choose a brown sand imo. Especially if you're not happy with the look of the white sand.

Dumb questions: What is the reason for dividing the 60 gallon tank?
Hi Jerome :) Not a dumb question at all. I just have a vicious group of Pakistani loaches 😓 I've had my cories with them before and they harass them so much (especially when they're spawning), so I made the divider to..... divide them. lol. I might have to take them back to the pet store eventually :(
@@JillsFishRoom okay makes sense. I didn't see the loaches. I was trying to figure out why tetras and cories need to be separated. LOL.
Hey my fraand, I just bought another tank myself! I upgraded to a 29 gallon 😁and my Cory's are happier then ever!!🐙🐙 btw I think that name of the plant is called mermaid kush 😅

Yesss, I told someone earlier that I HAVE to try more types of Java ferns because they are SO hardy. I'm so bad at keeping plants alive :(
And I know right! I actually thought of you when I was taking it apart loll. My kitty was having drinks out of it and I thought it was cute but I guess that's really bad for bacteria and ammonia... And here I was trying so hard to lower my nitrates 😅

@@JillsFishRoom I am pretty good with plants but for some reason java fern doesn't always do well in my tank. Java moss... prolific lol. Just try what you like, either it's going to survive in your care or it won't 🤷♀️ the point is, you won't know until you try lol. Don't be scared of trying 'high tech' plants. I felt that way about orchids for years and a couple years ago I decided to try them... they're easier for me to take care of than a potted plant 🤣 I never would have known if I had listened to everyone else who was telling me they were hard. And as for my aquarium... if I like it In put it in and hope for the best haha
Nice vid. How do the Almond leaves help the tank?
Hi Kelvin 😄 I think Indian almond leaves are more of a pseudo-science (at this point), but they are said to have natural medicinal properties and better the quality of your water, etc. A lot of betta fish and shrimp people love using them 😌 but they do release tanins 😬
Also, Indian almond leaves can lower the pH

I think so too, Avery :) Thank you! The water has a pretty tinge of orange now too because of the almond leaves. I'm gonna add more soon, my fish seem so happy swimming through them 😊

Thank you Craig! 😄 It has to stay a little low in general because the divider is too short, unfortunately 😅 but it was extra low in the beginning because I hadn't topped it off after I got back from holiday, and some of it evaporated.
The low divider is super annoying though because my aquaclear 110 is SO loud when the water is low. 😭

I got that plant from a neighbor and she didn't know what it was! I've always heard Java ferns are a great plant but seriously.... This thing is hardy. Bless you, sir 😁
