Well for all the 4 door not likers, the V8 engine doesn't know if its a 2 door coupe or a 4 door sedan! lol. The views are unimaginably beautiful! Your enthusiasm and positivity helps all of us : ) Husband is quite impressed also! V8 Nova's are cool!!! The early body styling is better than the later years, and back then you could still get a convertible!!
Emily....you should make a point of stopping at SolVang as you get closer to L.A. It's a beautiful small Dutch town with heavy influence from Holland. Very pretty, quaint, and something to see that seems out of place. cheers. Thanks for reviving the memories of my youth.
You two are awesome! My wife and I took that same trip down PCH on our honeymoon 49 years ago. You are bringing back so many memories. It is so nice to see people really enjoy and appreciate the grandeur that God has given us. God Bless the both of you!
Man this is my turf if followed for a while but man. How many mustang rent a car you see. A classic on thoughs cliffs y'all crazy sb local good video guys ?!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Emily, Absolute magnificent scenery, I'm so happy to watch you enjoying yourself on this road trip, your enthusiastic smiles say it all. I also must say that your filming and editing skills are very impressive. not everyone shows the perfection that you include in all of your videos. I believe you have a natural talent to do what you do. can't wait to see your next video, ya'll be safe out there and may God Bless.
The coastal fog is caused by the cold water meeting the warmer air. It can get pretty dense. Normally burns off by 9 or 10 o'clock. It is very pretty to look at from above...not so much to drive in! So glad y'all are just taking your time to be tourists. The Hwy 1 drive is spectacular. Your video is like a travelogue. Nana will always remember the trip and reward y'all for her experience.
Emily, your enthusiasm on this trip is so infectious, I had to get another booster shot!😀All kidding aside, I'm reacting the same as you. Those cliff side majestic views were clearly breathtaking! I'm reminded how similar it looks like the Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento coastline in Italy. Brings back fond memories! And the Nova looks better and better under that California sun. Take care my friends, enjoy and savor every minute, I am.👍👍
so glad you are saving a 4 door, i know they arent as "cool" as the 2 door versions, but personally i love 4 doors, so much nicer for passengers and/or kids to get in
For love the of water on the east coast, you should come into Canada and check out either the rocks at Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia by the Atlantic Ocean or along the Fundy Trail Parkway from St Martins New Brunswick along the coastline on up to Waterford and Alma New Brunswick. Scenic views of the Bay of Fundy. If you love beaches and the water and coastlines you'll love these drives too. My sister loves the water and coastlines.
I setup a PCH road trip for our honeymoon. LA to SF, I rented a convertible and we hit the road. My new wife slept the entire trip and saw nothing while I drove. Aaron, you don't know how lucky you are to have someone like Emily!
Such a beautiful trip! You two are bringing back a lot of memories for me. My wife and I took our honeymoon down the coast from Seattle to San Francisco, two weeks of pure bliss, in a convertible Mustang. We returned to San Francisco four years later on our anniversary, and continued the trip down the coast, from SF to LA, again in a convertible Mustang. The only negative was that my wife was in her first trimester with our daughter, and she had morning sickness something awful along that curvy drive. Wonderful memories, though. She passed away unexpectedly one year after that trip. I've always wanted to take my daughter back to the west coast and show her the places her Mom and I got to see...
You two have been together 21 years.....so nice to hear. Glad you guys have a great relationship. I never new Emily was a car whisperer now I have proof (25:32). 😉 All the best to you both and god bless. Aaron your a lucky bloke. Oh and love seeing you two every day. U.K
This is such a beautiful episode! Your joy in sharing it with us adds to our joy of watching. It almost seems like a honeymoon trip for you guys. Thanks for taking us along.
I’ve made the drive several times and it’s unbelievable, I can’t believe you didn’t stop in Carmel it has a fun downtown . If you make it all the way to caucus or the Pismo area stop and stay in one of the crazy rooms at the Madonna inn or the sandcastle on the beach in Pismo.
I live in North San Diego county. I have been hoping this whole trip you would be safe and without any incidents. My mother would talk about how as a little girl (1920's) they relied heavily on their garden. She loved to eat tomatoes fresh off the vine! I'm so glad you were able to make this drive and really appreciate the beauty of our coast. It's totally different from about Ventura north (and the water is much colder too!). Stay safe and thanks for sharing!
Hello Emily and Aaron, love the video. I was driving PCH one time and the fog rolled in too. The top of the fog just happened to be the same level as the road and I felt I was diving on a cloud. I’ll never forget that, thanks for the reminder from your video.
I lived in Monterey for three years and traveled the PCH several times. You are bringing back lots of memories. I live in Englewood Ohio now and sure do miss the west coast. Great video.
I really enjoyed taking this trip with you. While in the Navy I lived in Monterey for three years. 59 until 62. Then work kept me in Mission Viejo for 14 years. Texas for 18 years. Back to middle TN which is home for the last 18 years. I have been on your drive a few times. Sorry you missed 17 mile drive between Monterey and Carmel. Really beautiful back in the early ‘60s. I hope you have another video of the rest of the trip. You make it so much fun to see again. Happy you were careful while walking on the cliffs. They can be dangerous. Thanks for bringing back so many good memories.
Emily sometimes Aaron just has to call a doofus a doofus. Here is a like and comment to help your channel grow and get you the recognition you deserve.
Reminds me of my 1966 Chevy II Nova 2 door post! It had the 232 inline six and the awesome 2 speed powerglide!!!! and a Radio Shack/Realistic 8 track tape player! It was always nerve racking and fun waiting for the powerglide to shift from low to high!! If the engine was going to break it would happen then!!!!!!!! lol Miss that car.
Emily I'm saving this episode to watch. When someone says, "go to your happy place". This is mine. Back in 1980, I took a trip down Big Sur and stopped along the rode as you did. The clouds where so close to the edge of the highway that I wanted to just jump on the clouds and FLOAT. I still go here in my mind some 42 years later. Thanks for the trip. be safe.
PCH is a bucket list drive for me, but one that I will probably never get to make. So your videos have been a blessing. Thank you!!! I would be like you and want to stop at every pullout and take pictures and just sit and enjoy!!
Man what a awesome video thanks for sharing with us, the scenery is breathtaking you can see why you are so happy 😊 nature is such a beautiful thing take care and enjoy.
Awesome editing and i love how you keep nana the center of attention most of the time through out your amazing ddrive down the coast... 1959 and 60 cars are some of the most stylish cars ever made 2 dr or 4 dr IMO... thanks for sharing
I’m with him I love a good tomato snack. Dang nana is so sweet. And she just gets down the highway. All she needs is a good ac unit installed and she is perfect
Hello folks, you are taking that classic car into a beautiful part of the west coast… Monterey is as beautiful as it gets, once you pass the Brussels, and artichokes…. Could be pumpkins too…the town is full of wonderful places to visit, before and after lunch, and just south Carmel, and Pacific Grove, are well worth checking out. You are bringing out wonderful memories for me, while making your own… thanks for your positive outlook….James
I live in Northern California next time you come this direction go from San Francisco to Eureka you would go up starting on Highway one I would suggest stopping in all the little towns, especially Mendocino. It has an incredible view. The town has wooden plank sidewalks in front of all the knickknack stores, and you can also go out to the blow hole near the ocean you can continue north on Highway one until Until it runs into 101 and then end up going possibly to the drive-through, Redwood tree in Ligget, continuing north, confusion, Hill, and then through the Avenue of the Giants. It is an incredible drive all the way up to the Oregon border. I would suggest taking as much of the old highway as you can when you’re on 101 it runs you through miles and miles of several hundred foot plus tall redwood trees that are absolutely beautiful . it does tend to be foggy along the coast like you had experienced down by Santa Cruz but it is always beautiful.
I drove from Gilroy to Morro Bay (by myself, darn it) in 2013 and just COULD NOT drive past any space big enough to park! I get it!! Also....my family had a major love affair with 63 Novas and Chevy IIs in the 70s-80s and I still adore them. Nice find!
I’m so glad you guys enjoyed the coast, my wife and I live just east of Sacramento, we just came back from Monterey celebrating an early 34 year anniversary, thanks so much for the video 👍😁❤️
I'm in Wa. State now. I have a customer ( old guy) Tom, from Tennasee, Worked for Boeing here. That saw a 1965 Corvair in my parking lot. He asked "Aint that a car vare" Yea." I heard, You got 2 b a mechanic 2 own 1 of them." Yea, You should. He said NO! You should have bought the Nova. Lol, Safe travels. A&E Great stuff.
While I am TX borne and raised and lived in DFW area until my early 40s ( also have ranch north of Eustace) I accepted an VP position in SoCal living mostly in OC and LA always within 2 miles of the coast. It is beautiful to visit w great weather but I agree w Aaron about the drivers. I would listen to Jerry Jeff W sing got to get off these LA freeways everyday I lived there while commuting home. Happiest day of my life was moving back to N Tarrant co in mid 2000!
Thank you so much for bringing us along on this adventure. As breathtaking as this footage is, I can only imagine how it is actually being there. The little Nova just looks like she was made for that type of cruising.
Four of us left Pennsylvania in1971 and headed west to LA. We took the same trip you are up to San Fran. What a great experience. By the way we drove out and back in a 63 falcon.
The section of the PCH between Carmel and San Simeon is known as Big Sur. It's one of the most beautiful drives anyone can take. When you get down towards the southern end, stop in Cayucos and go to Duckies Chowder House at the bottom of the ocean pier. Fantastic seafood. New England and Manhattan Clam Chowder, and insane fish and chips with your drink of choice. It's a great place to stop for lunch or dinner. I stop there every time I drive through Big Sur.
When you had 'nanna nova' parked at the side of the road, it reminded me of a classic 60s 'B -- movie'. The two hoods had pulled up and were checking the drop from the cliff to the water, so they could get rid of a body. You could call your videos if all clipped together as 'A Nova Summer'.
Okay. This video just ended and it feels like it ended too soon. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's video. Ya'll from the flat, dry, straight-as-an-arrow part of the c'try. Mountains, clouds, more than a pond of water, crooked roads ... Em, some tourist organization is gonna hire you! I relate to Arron's controlled enthusiasm
Your excitement about the California coast has given me a new appreciation. When I have a new more reliable car, I'll definitely do a highway 1 adventure. Next time you're in California, be sure to check out Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite. They're as mind blowing as the coast.
THIS is why we restore vehicles! Everything we do comes full circle when we have epic drives like this. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication over the years. Now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. God bless you both!
When you're stuck in traffic and someone with inferior driving skills attracts your "attention", just remind Emily that you're not screaming and venting at their shortcomings, you're just loudly and vigorously encouraging them to improve their driving ... NOW! Two Thumbs Up Arron! ... Emily, I would like a tiny transfusion of your enthusiasm, cheeriness and goodwill you show on camera. Seriously ... It's on my bucket list :)
Emily. the ride down PCH is second to none in cali . i asked my wife to marry me in San Siemon . we had strawberries in santa rosa .Hollister is around the corner from Monterrey and has an amazing farm stand called Casa De Fruta. its all amazing from the bay to the 5 . im glad you two are enjoying the drive .. im glad We did it .
When I was a HS junior (2000) my buddy inherited his grandfathers 1972 Buick Electra 225 4 door and 5 of us would cruise all night Friday and Saturday in that thing (gas was $1.10 a gallon for regular and we had no bills lol) Even with that monster of a 455 under the hood the car was so heavy the only way to spin tires was to punch the gas while turning from a dead stop, only issue was 80% of the time someone had to run back and pick up the hub cap that was ejected due to wheel hop lol.
Before we moved from Paso Robles Ca. I did commercial HVAC & Refrigeration. I would drive up to Gorda, to work on their refrigeration, in the store & restaurant. It is a beautiful area. We hated to leave, but getting ready to retire. There no way we could afford to retire comfortably. It’s nice seeing our old stomping ground. Thanks!
Awesome episode. However I implore you to take a ride north on the PCH through the California Redwoods into Oregon and Washington. So much more Beautiful.
I don't know what it is about watching you two drive the PCH, but it literally is making me smile seeing y'all enjoy it so much! Nana is a TROOPER BTW! 😁🤗
In my mid twenties I use to deliver beverages up and down PCH from Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara every day. Best job as a kid, well kind of a kid. Enjoy yourselves be safe on the cliffs edges. ✝️
"that's when you know when you've cornered too fast!" ROLF back in my college days, my buddy was driving a Volvo back home and lost a drive shaft (!) when we were going downhill. We knew this because the darn thing passed us ... since we were going 65 mph (the highway speed limit in Massachusetts) we wondered if we would get a speeding ticket because our "car", or part of it, was speeding ...
With all the bad things you hear about California nowadays, this video makes it all seem totally different. What a beautiful coastline. Love the video 😎
I believe this is one of my favorite Series of y'all's. There are so many elements of the simplest yet most important parts of life in this adventure you guys are on. It has so many things all together all in the car trip. Bless y'all for bringing us along. Be safe we'll see you on the next one. 💪🏼🤗🌄💜😎💯
What you called "the bridge to nowhere," is actually the "Bixby Bridge, which is a free standing bridge and iconic architectural landmark was completed in 1932 and remains as one of the tallest single-span concrete bridges in the world, spanning 714 feet in length. Also one of the most photographed places on the Central Coast. I love it, and the "marine layer."
i find that when nauseaus in a car, drive it! It does help and while your there, try and find something to slip in the drink, to make her sleep and not keep stopping. Don't get me wrong, I too, love an amazing scenery on travels, but hey, one does not need to stop so many times!!!
I am first this time. I love that little Nova. I am so tempted to try a long distance trip in my '65 Skylark. Back in 2009 a buddy and I drove his stock '65 Skylark coupe from Seattle, Washington, to Colorado Springs, Colorado and back. It was a lot of fun. I would love to do it again. I drove the PCH back in 1983 in a 1979 Chevy pick up from Eureka, to San Francisco. It was a beautiful trip. I agree Aaron, even though that was nearly 40 years ago, it really was life changing, and I have lived a lot of good life since then.
Seriously you two, do not swap out that 283. Awesome little engine that punches way above its weight. In a light Nova the lack of torque will not matter. The Powerglide however would probably be best swapped for T350. Then again the Nova is light so that super high 1st gear shouldn’t be a problem. My wife and I did the PCH from SF to LA a while ago and it was beautiful, apart from a parking ticket in Monterey. Thanks this epic series.👍
Aaron, don't be worried, you are not the only one who lets his wife drive in traffic. But going through Portland, my wife didn't like the narrow bridges. So team work is the answer. Cheers
If I recall correctly, that coast road from San Fran to LA has been used twice as the final scene in a movie. First was American Gigolo with the sound track "Call Me" by Blondie. And the second was in Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner". Harrison Ford and his android girlfriend Rachael, played by Sean Young, take off down the coast road determined to enjoy as much of life as they can before Rachael's "time to die" arrives. I remember being stuck by the contrast between the dark rainy city scape where most of the action happens and the brilliant sunshine they drove in. It's ironic that you are driving a Nova along the same road. Cheers.
The PCH is a beautiful drive from Oregon on down. Now think how inhospitable it was for the mariner with it for a lee shore trying to beat into a west wind or find a safe harbor to get to with a gale blowing. Those rocks will rip the keel out and send you straight to Davy Jones's locker faster than you can say all hands on deck to shorten sail and come about!
Your video brought back a flood of memories....I did the PCH back in 1987 in my 1966 Pontiac Beaumont convertible......was a great trip.....thanks for bringing back memories of a great trip!
Awesome drive. Thanks for sharing with this boy from California (Susanville) and reminding me of the great things about my state and reasons for staying. Thank You!
My aunt moved to Monterey when she was 25 years old, she is now 75 and over the years has said that she really enjoys it there. I have never been there, but I want to visit her soon if I get the chance. Watching your awesome videos is definitely encouraging to visit the coast. Thank you for sharing! Enjoy!
back in 89/90 me n 2 buddy's spent 3 days in monterey. we has vip passes to the indy car grand prey at luguna seca. from the time we pulled off the freeway and stopped at the gas station the local people were crazy nice. we ended up spending 3 days on the beach n the track and met so many people it was insane. bon fires n keg party's the whole time. they offered there shower in there home and breakfast! told us were to park right next to the beach. partied with fort ord soldiers,a klu klux klan skin head party. ive never seen a place as wild on that weekend before. the local people thet live there party hard and treat you very good, ill never forget that trip! and the people.
Hi you two. Fantastic you’re going enjoy life it’s great to be out like that with the sun shining. Many years ago (2002)I flew from the UK had to change and on to John Wayne airport l hired an RV in Santa Ana l started from Newport Beach and l did all the beaches going up the PHC went up to San Francisco l parked up for 5 days in the Football stadium they a had bus service from 8am from the stadium in to the city and it returns at 8pm at night. Loved San Francisco the area’s are great but the Golden Gate Bridge was awesome l am so pleased you did this trip and filmed it, it brought back so many memories for me l had a blast thank you take care. 👍
l lived two blocks from PCH 1 living in Lomita. We used to take it to the canyon roads on the Harleys. The drive to Wash. State is epic. l loved the 'caramel' reference. They have a gas station on PCH 1 in Carmel that used to have the most expensive gas in the nation consistently. We used to stop there and buy 25 cents worth just to drive them mad. Love the channel.
Hey Emily and Aaron🖐, thanks for sharing. Love the views . It's been awhile since I've traveled those roads. Ya'll have a safe trip and enjoy your travels 👋
What a great video. At my age this something I will probably never get to see. Thank you for taking me along on your trip, I enjoyed it very much. Bill
Just wait till you get down around the Death Star of Los Angeles, think traffic is bad up there?? You ain't seen nuthin' yet! Be on the defensive for sure, or take an alternate route around that place! Love this series, that's a very cool ride! Have done it a number of times going north or south on my motorcycles over the years. Hope you guys stopped in at Ragged Point, and, further down the coast, Morro Bay. Hit up the Embarcadero there for good food/drink and a relaxing atmosphere! Be safe in your travels, you two! Thanks for such cool videos!

Correct, it takes longer to warm up the ocean water than the land surface, hence the ground fog.

I know the feeling of exploring new places. You have fun , enjoy all that you see and experience all you can.
This is the BEST Trip EVER!!! I can't thank you enough for taking us along with you! Love you guys, Keep up the great work!
you are helping me re-live 1983... I rode a bicycle from Seattle to LA along that same route, camping all the way.
That’s AMAZING!!!! We see so many cyclists and applaud their tenacity!!!
The waves crashing into the rocks is so relaxing . Almost as good as say a neck message, or a neck rub.
The PCH is so amazing! The parts that is just a sheer cliff drop off, and you look out into the vastness of the ocean, makes you feel so small!
I love seeing other channels commenting... Jared, it's cool knowing you are friends as well as fans.

I'm in love with your roadtrip. Beautiful done.
It has been a dream since my youth to do a ride there.
A huge thank you for sharing.
I'm in Wa.
My wife and did that drive in a convertible Mustang in the early 90’s, stayed over night at a bed and breakfast in Monterey. Incredible experience!!
I relate to Arron's controlled enthusiasm
always liked the instrument panel of the old Novas, simple but stylish.
That was my first car when I was 16, same color and everything. I get Deja Vu every time there is a scene with the Nova. 🙏
I was born in Carmel 70 years ago, in the same hospital that my mom was born in. That really is a beautiful area.
Your excitement about the California coast has given me a new appreciation. When I have a new more reliable car, I'll definitely do a highway 1 adventure. Next time you're in California, be sure to check out Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite. They're as mind blowing as the coast.
Looks like your gonna break the Smiles per Mile meter!
It's so refreshing to see you both slow down and enjoy the view!
"... I feel like a dork" Haha embrace the dorkiness! It's what makes us special!
Emily. the ride down PCH is second to none in cali . i asked my wife to marry me in San Siemon . we had strawberries in santa rosa .Hollister is around the corner from Monterrey and has an amazing farm stand called Casa De Fruta. its all amazing from the bay to the 5 . im glad you two are enjoying the drive .. im glad We did it .
lmao good Job Aaron you stopped somebodies bike from being ripped off! Bet ya scared the crap out of ! Awesome!!!
Never seen an ad anywhere on youtube. Chrome!
"that's when you know when you've cornered too fast!" ROLF
back in my college days, my buddy was driving a Volvo back home and lost a drive shaft (!) when we were going downhill. We knew this because the darn thing passed us ... since we were going 65 mph (the highway speed limit in Massachusetts) we wondered if we would get a speeding ticket because our "car", or part of it, was speeding ...
Nana said
"I'll teach u to corner hard again like that... I'll yeet my hubcap so u have to slow down"
love Nan the Nova
Sitting here in Sweden, Watching this with Google maps in a separate window to follow you trip. It's amazing. I wanna go drive PCH too
That Nova is one of the perfect cars to tour Cali in!
All that upright glass! You can see out!
Great tour video!

Phenomenal video segment!
Gorgeous
Emily & Aaron, you guys are doing a fantastic job documenting and I love the old Nova
Thank You!
It is so refreshing to see you take the time to see the beauty of our planet earth. Bill
Natures beauty is food for the soul. Loved the episode
That was one of your best videos. You two are very well matched and fun to watch. Enjoy your trip and stay safe.
Emily’s happier than a skydiver whose faulty parachute just opened❤
Lol. That's pretty happy.
😂😂
He’s right you know
Frozen brussel sprouts and a slingshot. Lotsa fun and way better than trying to eat them (just like kale, they're actually not a food).
That same gas station is still there it only has two pumps and a year and a half ago it was nine dollars a gallon when we went by
@@dieterlange7581 Clint Eastwood fills his cars up there and is probably the reason it still exists.
Bill
"safety third"! love it
Definitely a lot to see here, I have lived in the central valley all of my 59 years. Glad you liked.
Central California watching
Just wait till you get down around the Death Star of Los Angeles, think traffic is bad up there?? You ain't seen nuthin' yet! Be on the defensive for sure, or take an alternate route around that place!
Love this series, that's a very cool ride! Have done it a number of times going north or south on my motorcycles over the years. Hope you guys stopped in at Ragged Point, and, further down the coast, Morro Bay. Hit up the Embarcadero there for good food/drink and a relaxing atmosphere!
Be safe in your travels, you two! Thanks for such cool videos!
