Gildan G2000, 100% US cotton and only $2-3 each, comes in 60 colours including white. All these other T shirts are way overpriced for what is basically a commodity item.
I'm very partial to both the Arket and COS shirts, but then I like the heavy and structured feel of a thick T-shirt and I'm in Europe, where they are actually quite affordable (39€/29€). I have also had mine for 3+ years and they are still looking great. BTW Thank you for the bra test. For me that's the most important factor when buying white tops.
Love this type of video! Would love to see more comparisons (tank tops, sweatshirts etc.). I'm from Toronto as well and recently lived in Sweden. It breaks my heart knowing how expensive brands like COS and Arket are here. I have the tshirt from Arket and when I got it in Sweden it converted to $25 cad 😦. So in that regard it was definitely worth the price!
I bought the COS T-shirt a few years ago, and I LOVE it. Of course, I live in the US, so it was about half the price for me. 🙃 I love how heavy-weight it is, and it looks great when I wash on cold, line dry, and then throw in the dryer for 5 minutes with a damp cloth. Comes out looking awesome. Thanks for the review, because a great white tee is hard to find! Guess I need to try out the Everlane one!
The cos one is very premium, thick and lovely! Everlane I def prefer for everyday where I’m not scared to get it dirty or beat it up! If that helps more ❤
There are some COS boutiques across Canada so when Im close by I go for COS. Otherwise its Uniqlo for me (with size up) its an everyday luxurious feeling without breaking the bank😈
My favorite is actually the Amazon Made For You Tee. It’s inexpensive but it’s custom fit to your measurements and you can give it all sorts of little customizations like the length, the sleeve length, the neckline, etc. there’s two fabric choices, 100% Pima cotton and tri-blend cotton, and a few different color choices. I don’t know anything about sustainability with Amazon clothes but this tshirt is my absolute favorite and I wear it all the time, and it’s $25 which is so worth it for the customization
I like the Uniqlo tee and have it in multiples of several colors with emphasis on black, white and navy. It washes and dries beautifully and I appreciate the weight of the fabric.
I was legit shocked at your feedback on the Arket and COS ones (and even more shocked at the price but then again I'm in Europe so they are cheaper here). I love both of these brands and have admittedly closed my eyes to their being part of the H&M family for their basics. That being said, they do lean towards more oversized styles so as a petite, there's a lot of trying on before I find something I don't feel I'm drowning in 😅 Other good basic tees are the ones from SAMSØE SAMSØE (another scandi brand 😉) - Thanks a lot for this video! Really enjoyed it 🤍
I actually think Arket t-shirt looked the best out of the selection you’ve made. Some t-shirts were very sheer and with not enough room in the sleeves not contributing to a great style imo.
The Arket had the perfect sleeve length, and not too wide, making it the ideal tee to wear with any style and still look elegant. A winner imo. The others were meh and not worth the money.
@@leadoucet1432 100% :) I just ordered two t-shirts from Arket. I tried couple of heavyweight t-shirts from Cos. Amazing quality, but a bit cropped compared to ones from Arket
Lands’ End Supima cotton tees are my absolute favorite. Opaque, great quality, wash and dry well, and come in v neck, crew neck, short sleeves, and long sleeves. 🤍
I’m Uniqlo U gal. I still have those I purchased 5-6 years ago & they still look quite nice. Granted I go through the white one faster than the other colours, but even then I sort of “relegate” that for lounging around / run errands. I notice there’s 2 different types of material they use in the U line, I usually prefer the heavier & thicker one
They grew on me a lot more from the initial filming! Sometimes the eye needs to adjust for me. I like them all - just usually I prefer a more sheer grungy tee myself.
Great video Christina. Can’t ever see me spending $70-$90 on a tee shirt. Great recommendation from LHLL. Would love more videos on sustainable brands in countries like UK, Australia and United States.
It's nice to see some brands that I haven't seen! I'm kind of starting out wardrobe building and love the Uniqlo one (and cost was a bigger factor for me), but I was recommended to size up for the boxier look with that brand. That works great for me and I love the fit!
I have 3 of these uniqlo shirts and always get compliments on them! People are surprised to hear it's not from someplace higher end. They also hold up after many washes, so they last despite being fast fashion :)
Gap has some lovely close fitting tees this season. Soft, hefty cotton and viscose blend. Look more expensive than they are. They look a lot like the Arket tee.
I rarely ever leave comments on videos but thank you so much for doing this research for us! Having spent all that money that I never would have the stomach to, I hope you enjoy everyone of those white T-shirts even that really expensive one that isn’t even white, lol. I haven’t checked yet but I’m hoping your links are affiliates because I definitely plan to pick up those Everlane and Uniqlo ones.
I love Banana Republic's Cozy Slub t shirt - it's a little sheer, but it's 100% cotton and the softest tee I've ever worn. Also, the cut is perfect for my body type. I don't look great in super boxy, slouchy styles, so I love the way BR's cozy slub tee skims my curves and looks fitted without being skintight. Because the fit is so perfect, it looks amazing with every single pair of jeans I own and wear on a regular basis: skinny, bootcut, flare, and straight. Literally the perfect tee for me.
Love the Everlane organic boxy cut. Really hear you about cost versus longevity. I also have super cheap white tshirts from Old Navy that I wear under sweaters. They come in petite sizes which is very helpful for those of us who are 5'1".
Size up the uniqlo U crewneck, and it will look great on you! I normally wear size XS, but I wear size L for the t shirt. It looks super great and it is high-quality.
Banana Republic's Ts are amazing! Surprised they did not make the list. They fit great and stay fresh and white for a long time even after many washes.
My newest white t-shirt discovery is the Kirkland Brand (yes Costco!) Mens' Crew Neck t-Shirt. Lay Flat collar , 100% combed Heavyweight cotton, Reinforced Seams, Tagless. A six-pack for $23 US!! I bought for my son, but I'm keeping a couple of them for myself!
I grab Uniqlo tees from the men's section (I have a large chest - 32E - and even based on that, would recommend to size down one size from your usual women's size) and love them! I've had many for 5+ years. I did comment earlier that I gave up on white tees, which is true for the most part bc I'm clumsy and tend to need quite a relaxed fit because of my chest & shoulder area. But other colors and patterns have been staples in my wardrobe for years :) I wait for their $5 US sales and grab 1-2 every couple of years.
I love the Everlane shirts (the classic cotton crew as well). The weight and texture are just perfect for me. I actually like that they’re the teeniest but sheer!
cheaper does not mean fast fashion. It is bogus to define it that way. Whether you will wear it multiple times defines if it is fast fashion. The uniqulo one should have a higher rating if you rated it low because it is affordable which means they are "fast-fashion"...... Honestly, all sources supports local farmers and community as someone has to make them, it just depends on if they market it to you or not.
The Arket and COS looked best on you because they didn’t ripple under the armpits and across the chest. Maybe find a tee that is cut longer from the shoulder to the armpit or just size up. The Arket and COS seemed to fit you better and looked higher end. Just my observation…:) Thanks for the comparison test.
A great video! Just found your channel and I like you already since I am very into intentional spending as well 😊 I have been looking for a basic white tee and I love that you mention sheerness since I don't like my clothing to be too sheer which sometimes can be tricky with a white shirt. Thanks for the video!
No, no, no, no…all of those NOOOOO! (for me anyway). After years of trial & error with (basic) t-shirts I gave up, convinced there doesn’t exist a t-shirt for this absurdly unproportionately long torso. EVERYTHING either way too short or not short enough/hits that weird place on hips…just NO! Recently found myself breezing through a store and spotted (all the way on other end of store) “THE ONE!!!” Like “WAAAAAAAIT! That’s IIIIIIIT! Why was that so impossible to find whenever I was looking for it???! On closer examination realized it was actually the little mini cropped style but the X large (OMG HOW did I miss that all these years???) I’m petite so I automatically buy small or X small. Perfectly shaped, perfectly cut, hits RIGHT on the waistband (no fighting with the whole tuck business 🎉)…PERFECTION! And they’re 95% cotton. That little bit of spandex extremely important for these broad shoulders so it doesn’t lose its shape. On sale $6…bought every colour. Considering that the little bralette tops of the same brand I bought years ago and almost never take off are still going strong, they’re worth their weight in gold for me. But disclaimer….the “elevated” significantly more expensive “fashion” white tees…yes I own those too. But I only wear them in the warm summer months on their own as they’re meant to be shown off & need to be styled a very particular way. These are not those t-shirts. The basic/every day/work/throw under your blazer/hoodie/cardi etc…goes with anything…is the category these are in. Best $6 I’ve spent in years!
Listen, I am a 43yo mom of three - cropped, or even slightly cropped T-shirts are just not my thing. Once you've had your body completely rearranged with childbirth, it is soooo difficult to fit into high-waisted jeans (or maybe it's just my body type IDK). When it comes to white tees, I prefer a moderate crew neck (so as not to get strangled), straight fit, sitting slightly above the hips. Have I found IT yet? Nope.
^This! Cropped t-shirts and high waisted jeans are a no-go for me, as well. I have three favorite t-shirts- Talbots (on sale), Life is Good (they sell solid colors now), and more expensive but really soft and comfy, Vineyard Vines.
Hello! I love white tee reviews. I had the Everlane box tee and it was good, but as someone with a longer torso, I wanted more length. The old U Neck was my all time favorite! I wish Everlane would bring us back! Since then, my budget favorite is Amazon essentials and my sustainable favorite is For Days, a closed-loop option with a “good” ratings at Good On You. I bought the Daily Tee in three colors and wore them out!
Thank you for the review!! My favorite is American giant:)) But it’s a slub not everyone love the fabric but it’s beautiful. I have them a many colors. White is creamy though better for a warm tone:)))
For me, the Arket is a clear winner - but I’m 54 and 6 feet tall, so I have different needs from a T shirt than you do! I liked the slightly longer sleeve length and the thicker fabric. The Everlane is a real disappointment to me - if it’s that short on you, it’s going to be ridiculous on my long torso! Thank you for this research Christina - I really enjoy your videos 😊
I liked the Arket one the best. I've been looking at this one for a while. I've got a couple of their standard t-shirts but not the heavyweight. I've been dithering a bit as they are quite expensive for a t-shirt. But personally I love that thicker heavyweight fabric. I also like that the sleeves are a little bit longer and the body looks a bit longer too. I like to tuck them into my jeans and a lot of the other ones are just a bit too cropped for me. The only thing that's now putting me off is that it's an off-white and not a true white.
I have several Pact tshirts that I love. For me (in Colorado, US) they’re a local, fair-trade certified company that offers a great price point, good quality for grab-n-go spring/summer tee. They promote sustainability, and because they ship from one town over, my carbon footprint when purchasing is minimal (something I’m starting to think about more and more). The tees themselves aren’t super thick, so no black bras here, but nude works just fine.
I can't fathom spending this kind of money on a white t-shirt that will soon have soup on it. Just remember folks, you don't need to spend 92 dollars on a plain white t-shirt . If you have the expendable income then go for it if it's your dream. I know this kind of content for me gives me the itch to shop, idk how it makes others feel. I think I'll just go spend time appreciating the things I already have. 💚
I didn’t vote but COS tshirts are just about all I wear and I really love them. I buy the regular length but I do also have and love the cropped Everlane.
I loved this video so much! I've been on a lookout for good quality white t-shirt for ages and every brand recommendation on RUclips has always been US based brands like Everlane. Was SO pleased to hear some European based recommendations too!
I needed this!!! Thank you, I've been eyeing up Uniqlo items for a while now and this has helped me decide to go for them for a safe white shirt to wear with a bra!
I saw that someone wrote the brand Asket that you included in Arket (maybe assuming a typo) but Asket is a separate brand that is very based in the capsule closet idea and sustainability!
Thanks for an interesting video. Interesting to see how different people feel about basics. I love the COS tees (they also do a nice striped tee and prices are not as bad in EU) and have one in white and one striped one that I wear quite a bit. I find the material holds up well and the thickness is good, as non-see-through is important for me. The more over-sized fit is also better for me and material is comfortable. I am not personally a fan of anything Uniqlo, I find it is the thinnest they can get away with and still look decent! Understand the appeal on price, I just feel it won't last at all.
To me, there's no perfect white t-shirt. ALL of them turn grey within 2-3 washes. I'll skip, thanks. White shirt has ZERO place in my wardrobe! Same goes for "black" (aka dark blue, dark brown etc - none of them are truly black). Black attracts my cat's hair, dust and laundry fading. Nope, skip. Light grey or blue are my favorite "white shirt" colour. Dark blue or grey are my "black". I hope, it helps! PS For warm tone looks I'd replace grey and blue with beige, brown or warm green. You're welcome 😇
Hey! Christina can I get reply from you and I love your videos so so much you're looking too beautiful in white t-shirt and I wish you reach 200K Subscribers very very soon!💫☺️💞
I can't do anything white. It's stained and dingy looking way too fast. I go for colored tops and black pants. I don't have any particular brands at the moment since I'm working on my weight and I go for cheaply made items
Honestly, my sister and I are hooked on Abercrombie & Fitch's essential easy tees. They're thick, soft, 100% cotton, have a wider crewneck collar, and have held up super well after several wash/dry cycles and weekly use. Also the hems and collar don't permanently distort and wrinkle up, unlike the Everlane tees I have bought, I hate to say. I know A&F has a tainted past and it's far from a B-corp darling, but Fran Horowitz has really turned its image around and their website has a pretty lengthy sustainability section explaining the company's goals and participation in the UNGC. And for the record, I despised A&F in its late 90s/early 00s hey day when I was a teen. Never thought it would become one of my go-to's for classic basics in my mid-thirties.
Thank you for the white tee evaluation! I've loved COS for years, but yes ordering online from Canada can be pricey. While there is less inventory in-store, there are two stores in Toronto; one in Yorkdale and I believe one on Bloor. Might be worth the visit to save on duties!
Other than KOTN and UNIQLO, haven’t heard of these brands. The prices were too high for a tee. My favorite tees come from Gap and Banana Republic. They’re owned by the same parent company, which explains why I like their tees, Gap for the price, and Banana Republic because I have always loved the quality of their 100% cotton Tees.
AMAZON ESSENTIALS ! GREAT t shirt! $5.00 right now ! I buy a lot of white t shirts and actually like Amazon best ! Lots of colors. Did you hear me? They are 5.00 !
@@Christinamychas Will check out the everlane tshirt. I gave my uniqlo tshirt to my sister bec of the too high crew neck that I feel like im suffocated. 😂
Unfortunately, with how slim fit that KOTN one is, an XXXL might be the equivalent to a 1X at the most, which is not that size inclusive. It certainly wouldn't fit me. LHLL has no size chart, so I wouldn't trust that one at all.
My current favorite is the LHLL grunge tee. I got it in large, which is quite oversized for me, exactly as I wanted. Slouchy, soft and broken-in-feeling, all the things I love.
ouch .. I think Ill just sew my own shirt from closet core patterns (Canadian company)I think seeing these shirt helps me in my sewing world and that I THANK YOU
The prices. Gez. I buy universal threads from target and I think they’re usually on sale for eight or nine dollars lol and I prefer a V-neck but they do have crewneck 100% cotton love love love them.
I have a couple of white tee's (or at least they were once white, lol) from literally 20 years back, that I cannot give up because they simply don't make 'em like they used to. They're thicker, have a touch of lycra in them, they just 'hang' better, and keep their shape better. I also have some 'tissue tees' that I got at, of all places, Target, at least 15 years ago, and they are the perfect layering pieces under sweaters or blazers. Again, difficult to find similar pieces today. Fashion overall today, IMHO, is sorely lacking in many aspects!
Arket and COS, I really like my T-Shirts heavyweight and a bit oversized. Tough that the Arket isn’t 100% is really a downside, because it’s my favourite cut-wise.
I love t shirts from Everlane, Old Navy and the Gap. I'm in the US. ANY brand that's under the HM umbrella is a NO from me, they don't do enough to offset their environmental footprint at all.
Please drop your fave plain white tee brand and why!
Gildan G2000, 100% US cotton and only $2-3 each, comes in 60 colours including white. All these other T shirts are way overpriced for what is basically a commodity item.

Nope.
I hear ya! You may like the Uniqlo one in that case ❤️
Yessss
@@MNP208Lands End Supima cotton tees are my favorite!
@@MNP208 See, this is what I'm talking about! Ya'll are awesome. 💛💛💛
Thank you for the reco! I haven’t heard of For Days before!
Thank you for the review!! My favorite is American giant:))
But it’s a slub not everyone love the fabric but it’s beautiful. I have them a many colors.
White is creamy though better for a warm tone:)))
Those are insane prices for a white T shirt
Thank you! I bought the COS shirt and love it!
I like a Gap t shirt myself. They’re cheap and good quality.
Thank you! Very helpful video! :)
Uniqlo u crew in xs men’s are a bit long, looking to get the women’s version
Like the look of the COS and Arket styles...more of a modern/updated feel.
I also recommend &Other Stories tee. It has slightly longer sleeves and it’s not too heavy or too lightweight.
The white boxy tee shirt from Unbound Merino Wool is the best.
Thank you Mansoor! ❤
Uniqlo is great 👍, mine lasted long
I’m very impressed with the quality!
@@Christinamychas Me too. Only these tee from Uniqlo managed to stay in shape. Neckline doesn’t stretch
The sewing on the hem of the Kotn t was all messed up and rippled.
Could you do a review of the ASKET tees? I am really curious about it😇
I have their white cotton tshirt and black jersey shirt. They're great. The jersey feels nice on the skin and not see through.
I can't do anything white. It's stained and dingy looking way too fast. I go for colored tops and black pants. I don't have any particular brands at the moment since I'm working on my weight and I go for cheaply made items
Bleach.
I can't believe how much we have to pay for a plain white T-shirt now....
Anywhoo, great video!
Eeeek I know - lots of more affordable suggestions I’m seeing in the comments tho! 🥰
Can you do a video with v neck shirts?
Are they true to size or do you size up or down ?
Thank you for the white tee evaluation! I've loved COS for years, but yes ordering online from Canada can be pricey. While there is less inventory in-store, there are two stores in Toronto; one in Yorkdale and I believe one on Bloor. Might be worth the visit to save on duties!
What’s with the hem on the kotn t-shirt?
Clicked right away.
I'm newly postpartum and this is so helpful while I'm fluctuating sizes and rebuilding my minimal wardrobe
Congratulations on the baby! ❤
Just posted the same thing. Gap and BR have great ones and run great sales.
@@cindynorris5983 I live for BR sales! I have tees and dresses I bought in the 90’s that look as good now as they did new!
AMAZON ESSENTIALS ! GREAT t shirt! $5.00 right now ! I buy a lot of white t shirts and actually like Amazon best ! Lots of colors. Did you hear me? They are 5.00 !
Ive been waiting for this. Thank you! ♥️
❤❤❤
@@Christinamychas Will check out the everlane tshirt. I gave my uniqlo tshirt to my sister bec of the too high crew neck that I feel like im suffocated. 😂
Love this topic. For the reference purpose, may I ask how tall you are?
5’5!
Unfortunately, with how slim fit that KOTN one is, an XXXL might be the equivalent to a 1X at the most, which is not that size inclusive. It certainly wouldn't fit me. LHLL has no size chart, so I wouldn't trust that one at all.
Unfortunately if you have a large chest a crew neck isn’t very flattering.
Then you choose a v-neck, which IS.
My current favorite is the LHLL grunge tee. I got it in large, which is quite oversized for me, exactly as I wanted. Slouchy, soft and broken-in-feeling, all the things I love.
ouch .. I think Ill just sew my own shirt from closet core patterns (Canadian company)I think seeing these shirt helps me in my sewing world and that I
THANK YOU
Wow people actually pay $60 for a white tee shirt? Yeah it’s a basic but….one drip of coffee….done.
The prices. Gez. I buy universal threads from target and I think they’re usually on sale for eight or nine dollars lol and I prefer a V-neck but they do have crewneck 100% cotton love love love them.
I'm really curious how the famous Whitesville T-shirt fits on women... please consider a part 2!
Everlane is a union buster.
Hi, can I ask what’s your top size on COS? Thanks!
XS!
