You’re my sensei when it comes to cooking Mexican food! I started with your Birria recipe and never looked back, now I’m making tortillas from scratch! Thank you 🙏🏾
I've tried this recipe 3 times and gotten progressively better and more comfortable for my family. The small batch is excellent for practicing. Thank you kindly and God bless you and ur family😊
Yummy I make flower tortillas from scratch too it’s much cheaper my family loves them it never gets old my adult children are grown ups with their own beautiful family’s they love when I make them . Thank you 😊 for sharing your recipe techniques in all the different Mexican food dishes we love you and your sister. ❤
Flour tortillas freeze really well. I lay them 1 at a time in the freezer for about 5 minutes and then when frozen into a ziplock bag all together. I give them as gifts.
Steph Cloud, Cloud Steph….I have been following you for a few years now and your recipes never disappoint. Tonight, for the first time, I finally tried my hand at tortillas. My family enjoyed our dinner so much and I am so proud of myself! Many gracias and much continued success!
Today I tried my first attempt at making tortillas. After studying countless recipes and what feels like hundreds of RUclips videos I decided on yours. Your explications are great and the fact that this was a small batch made me less nervous about wasting a large amount of dough in case they didn’t turn out to my liking. This was also my first time using lard. To make a long story short… from a beginner like myself… they came out nearly perfect. My techniques for shaping will come with time but the dough itself was beautiful and truly tasty! I was thinking of using it as a pie crust it’s so good! Can it be used for empanadas?
Thank you so much for leaving your feedback 💖 it helps everyone that is just starting or needs a little motivation! You can use the dough for empanadas, or two recipes I love: ruclips.net/video/pkj5-B24nCw/видео.htmlsi=w2HeRZfNqVRKRAl6 💖ruclips.net/video/A6wfZZSKIc8/видео.htmlsi=Q6OaVjns-jKvp5vF I’m thankful you have this recipe a try!
Just made them ! I think rubbing with oil as you form the ball is key to softness and they are!! Most delicious flour tortilla I have ever eaten in texture and softness.I let them rest in my closet that stores my gas water heater its very warm in there. Thanks so much❤...Two thumbs up👍👍!! from a 71 year old avid Cook most my life
When I was a young child my mom and I would make a huge jug of sun tea and set it outside our house at the top of the hill in direct sunlight for a couple of hours 😊❤
Thank you Stephanie for you tortillas recipe. What have to taking the bite of the tortilla. You make it look like it really delicious 😋😋. Bless you & your Familia 🍫🤗🥰
I'm a new subscriber and even if I don't plan on making a recipe, I so enjoy watching them. You ladies are so entertaining! Watching Steph eat is like watching a love story. Food is passion and it's a joy to see how happy it makes you. Keep up the beautiful work!
Ohhh mannnn these look wonderful! You make it always look easy and I hope one of these days I get the nerve to try!! Love watching you do it and wish you were next door so I could have you right by my side! I will shout with happiness the first time I make these! ❤❤
I made these, doubled my batch, it made approximately 12 tortillas but mine were small, I could see the pattern on my counter underneath, I weighed them 5 grams each approximately next time I will give a couple extra grams per ball. They are Delicious I must say YUMMY! Thanks for sharing
The tortillas looked perfect I love how you always make it easier for us to do ..Always so kind and thoughtful some of your many great qualities..x❤️🥰💕
I have always wanted to know how to make tortillas. I have lived on the border in Arizona since the 60's. I worked in a grocery store in Tucson and a lady told me she was making tortillas! I asked her how to make them and she said, "this much lard (using her hand as a measurer) and this much flour" and so on. She was shocked that I wanted to learn how because her daughters didn't want to know. lol It was about the time when the market for "store bought" tortillas was growing BUT they were not thin and "lardy". I do not care for the thick whitist ones. I tried her method, not so good lol. Then I found your page! The first recipe you showed was great BUT it made so many lol. My daughter and I made them together and we had some Arizona shaped ones, some Texas and even some like Florida lol. Thank you so much for all you do! You have enhanced my family's life with your wonderful recipes.
❤❤❤ Thankyou for this method with simple instructions. Now I want a mixer. I have been doing it old school all by hand for years. So much easier and faster your way. You are a great teacher youngster.
Thank you so much for this recipe! I literally tried one from another RUclips channel 5 times and failed each time. I had almost given up hope on ever being able to make tortillas but I gave it one more shot using your recipe and they came out on my first attempt! Not only were they delicious but the recipe was really easy and fast!
Stephanie, you needed to name this video tortillas for dummies. Because I followed your recipe and the method you used and this is the first effing time I’ve ever made a decent tortilla.😂😂 Thank you Girl ❤
I am so happy to have a small batch recipe and using our stand mixer with... speed and tips.. dairy... hmm!. Also, the crumbs, is normal , thanks for that little comment I kept thinking I screwed mine up and then would add water after watching someone just dump it into the bowl on a video. I appreciate an honest visual on how to address this & that it really does happen to seasoned cooks like you.
I think of my grandma making tortillas, several EVERYDAY. She would add baking soda.. Mix by hand and definitely put her warm cloth over the dough(not outside) she would than flip between her hands, roll, flip again into PERFECT circles. We would eat them warm with butter and they were amazing!!
I am terrible w/ rolling pin a round tortilla out. So I was wondering if a tortilla press would work just as well to press out the tortillas? Thanks. BTW, I appreciate your recipes. I know the basic recipes of mexican food (arroz, frijoles, guacamole, flautas, etc.) but you make the more "complicated" dishes simpler to make. Much appreciated.
Thank you Thank you for this small batch recipe 😊 if you would kindly do this for carnitas,Birria,Puerco Pibil and Barbacoa it would make my world 😊. I live in a small household and making those recipes for 6 or more people can be a bit much with all the leftovers 🤤😂
Now this is a tortilla recipe I think I can work with! I do want to know how much water you used. I saw you added an extra tablespoon but was the the initial amount half cup? Love the video. You made it look so easy. 😊
Good morning ladies I’m so happy that I got to use my KitchenAid dough hook finally after so many years I’ve had a dough hook on a machine and I was like what can I use this for lol Anyways, using the hook with your recipe, but the dough is not forming a loss on adding a tablespoon of flour at a time and it’s getting a little bit better but I mean they are called flour tortilla right so I don’t know how much flour should be adding we’ll see. I haven’t cooked them yet . Is that right? Keep adding flour until it forms a ball already been said and done. I’ll keep you posted. See how they turned out. 🙏🙏🙏😂😂😊
Might you have a recipe for Gorditas? Since being in Ohio I can not find a from scratch place to get gorditas. I used to go to a Tequeria where this wonderful old lady made them from scratch while you watched..
Is there a recipe you have for using wheat or keto friendly flours? I tried using it 1:1 like my flour advises but it turned into more of a flatbread since the dough didn't want to stretch out.
Hi, I have always used a rolling pin made from wood and sometimes a glass bottle. Start off by making a huarache(oval) shape, then rotate your your tortilla and start rolling out. Try not to apply so much pressure in the center of the tortilla when rolling out. Don’t be afraid to use fingers to aid in shaping a round tortilla! I also have a compilation video showing all the different tips(just forward to the rolling of the tortillas) ruclips.net/video/enFkneoxuiE/видео.htmlsi=PWo5j8DKbGcCoIq6 Hope this helps 🫶🏽
Love love love the video. This isn't food related but, Big question though, where did you get the back splash in your kitchen? It really caught my eye😂❤
Santa brought me a stand mixer this year and I’m so looking forward to making your tortilla recipe today for the family!!!! Merry Christmas!
