I was 17 when Iron Man came out so I feel you. I might not have grown up with Marvel, but they were the ones that brought my childhood to life. So to see what they’ve become is so depressing
Thank you for your honest review… I understand the whole Superhero tiredness vibe it gets to be a little much. I’m curious however, what is your take on shows like The Boys or Invincible?
@@snarkyjay the bar was too low it was deep down under and the bar's ghost dropped and fell so hard, the ghost shattered when it hit face first on the core ground 👻
When Tony Stark snapped his fingers and said “ I am Iron man “ and died Marvel’s problems began. They can fix it but can’t do it with non action movies and clueless writers
This movie felt like it was generated by an AI. There wasn't a single beat that didn't come across as a lesser version of something that had already been done before.
@@snarkyjayi was done after multiverse of madness. Im surprised that film didn't get the same level of hate as thor4. Dr Strange 2 basically killed my hype for the mcu going forward.
I've been done since endgame, I saw the writing on the wall and I'm glad I deattached myself from it. I know some people had hope for it and my heart goes out to them.
@@davidm4566 My wife, and her 2 best friends broke out laughing in the theater when that happened. It was so out of place and cheesy. I knew what direction the MCU was going when they last second introduced Captain Marvel and trying to make her the ultimate badass who is stronger than Thanos.
I agree with 99.9% of everything you said, except the part about the cat ears. Those are adorable. I can attest that the issue is not superhero fatigue, or age (I'm 55). These large productions (most of them, Andor being the recent exception) have forgotten about the most important part of storytelling, and that is "story". The MO these days is to confuse the mind with 3 second frames in rapid succession, and I can only assume they feel they can convince us how great it was with the hype. Perhaps it is just that we are "wising up" to the program. :) Thanks for being wise, Jay 🙏💜🙏
One thing I’ve noticed in the newer marvel movies is that the characters just don’t feel like autonomous beings-they’re just whatever the plot needs them to be. I loved marvel because I loved watching different personalities and different philosophies clash against each other and ultimately come together to save the day. The stakes were personal. You knew how much this meant to the character-what they would personally lose if they lost the fight. When every movie has an antagonist that is trying to take over the entire world-you know for a fact the antagonist is not going to win. If they did, there’d be no franchise left. Infinity War handled this well, but every movie since End Game has had “world-ending stakes,” and it’s just not threatening anymore. Personal stakes. Personal sacrifice. I love the first Antman movie because it’s personal to Scott. He’s just a normal guy that got swept up into this crazy adventure. We know he wants to redeem himself and that he wants to make his daughter happy and be a better father. I’m more on the edge of my seat about a police officer finding out Scott’s identity than I am about a Kang Variant destroying the world (in the first phase 5 movie). I love the Guardians of the Galaxy movies a lot because they’re about the characters. It’s about these lone wolves wanting nothing more than a family deep down, finding a family, and then doing everything they can to look after each other. Yondu sacrificing himself for Peter was so touching. Nebula and Rocket finding common ground with each other. It’s grounded. It’s human. I can’t relate with characters who all think the same and have the same sense of humor and all want what’s best for the greater good-I relate with characters that have flaws and personal reasons for doing what they do even if it logically doesn’t make sense. (Peter shooting at Thanos in Infinity War was frustrating to watch, but it was vividly real. It was what any of us would do if our significant other had been killed by the man who raised her. Forget the greater good-this is personal). I’m not saying every character has to be morally gray-I just miss having characters that had their own motivations that we were able to discover as the movie went along. The Daredevil show does an incredible job of this too. Idk. It just feels so…manufactured now. Everything’s so contrived. :(
I think Civil War is the best example of what you’re saying. Seeing all these characters being divided over their ideologies on the Sokovia Accords and how to deal with Bucky created for such a compelling experience.
It's because they film tons of different scenes and then fit it in post production like a puzzle based on the market research. It's called the "scrapbox method", they do this with all newer Disney movies and shows.
Hi Snarky, it’s so annoying and gross when you have creeps saying for you to show your body and be revealing which is disgusting and I hate it too believe me I understand and I’m a guy. They should completely stop that behavior. No disrespect, but don’t you think certain characters like black widow and cat woman are sexualized in nature due to their unfortunate appearance and it would be wise to not wear those one to avoid those creeps. Just my advice. I do like the winter soldier, Wolverine, and captain America cosplay. You should probably do some street fighter character and dragon ball character cosplays, those outta be cool and good. Good day.
It's weird because I just turned 23 this year as well, went to see the first Iron Man movie in 08 with my Dad and I feel the exact same as you. Most of our generation who grew up with Marvel I think feel this way, something ended with Endgame and pretty much everything that's come since just feels hollow and very uninteresting.
It's crazy how dumb you people are. I'm gonna laugh so hard when the mcu starts connecting again and you guys will jump right back on the hype. I don't understand why you guys can't enjoy a movie. You have to literally watch for anything negative. I could go back and destroy the og marvel movies. We really got 3 ironman movies out of the first 7 movies. Where all 3 villains are just bad. With the big bad being Loki for the first avenger's movie. A character we literally had 2 movies before and basically always loses to Thor and becomes good. Wow so crazy and wild. Don't even get me started on phase 2.
I’m 22, so I’ve seen the MCU come up the same way. I think the social media side of things, just made it way too corny. They used to make some dope ass movies, nowadays Idk what to say 😂 they’re entertaining sometimes
@@austinglass1916 it's literally the same shit. There's basically 2 type of people. People like you guys who like to see the negative. She even said in these comment sections that she would rather complain about something then enjoy something. Then there's the other people who enjoy life and see the positive. So if you go into it with negative and with low expectations that's what you're gonna get. If you even enjoyed antman 2 for even 1 minute then you will like this.
@@sotorc1448 nah wtf are you smoking, I enjoy every marvel movie 🤷🏽♂️ been to everyone that’s dropped since the first GOTG. it’s just the modern era that’s different. didn’t even say anything negative dawg
I walked out of Doctor Strange 2. My son asked me multiple times to leave and I kept telling him "it will get better." Then the started fighting with musical notes and I said "it's not going to get better... let's go." I've been a Marvel fan since the 80s (yes, I'm GenX) so I really hope they turn things around.
This is a pretty spot on analysis of the over-saturation of the Marvel Universe. We need better stories rather than trying to CGI dazzle us to death. The Ant Man/Wasp Quantumania take was also correct, although I didn’t walk out. The best parts were Rudd, Pfeiffer, Majors and O’Brian. There wasn’t enough for Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly to do, which wasted their talent in my opinion. There’s been a lot of fangirl fawning over Cassie (Kathryn Newton). It was good to see this character break out, and the actress did a good job, but the way the wrote some of her lines made her come across as a sanctimonious little brat on a couple of occasions. And the whole “You’re not at fault, you’re SO amazing” father/daughter pep talk felt forced and cliche.
I think we've just outgrown them. And since they simply cannot or will not mature... they leave us with little choice about the divorce or maybe a trial separation at the very least.
I don't think we've outgrown them. Go back and watch the older films that still hold up. Don't give these clowns a pass. They have regressed. The effort that the creative teams put into making masterfully weaved story across films isn't there. These guys don't have a plan. And it's obvious. They think they can make money based on brand alone. Screw that.
Most this generation grew up watching marvel not reading it. So life long fans are still noobs for most part. Why you think marvel has been changing the actual comic history of the books for the last 5 years cuz the real fans are way back in the 90s and 80s. To make new fans happy and think they know wassup they just change comic lure to movie lure. They alienated there real fans no different then DC. It's all about money for them.
I almost fell asleep during Wakanda Forever and Quantumania . I grew up reading comics so it was very exciting to see these characters brought to life , but some of that excitement is gone . I still enjoy Spider-man and have some excitement for The Fantastic Four and X-Men reboots
I’ve gotten to the point where I enjoy watching videos hating on these movies way more than the movies, and I don’t worry about spoilers because they come pre-spoiled
Snarky Jay "I'm done with Marvel." Turns off the camera. Moments later... "Crap! Guardians is next up! I'm done after that!" LOL I agree 1000% with you on every point!
I don't agree... I had to thumbs down because she roasting Marvel movies. They teamed up with Disney so the deterioration was inevitable. The movie was not bad considering. Weaker than the first two but not worthy of walking out of. Captain Marvel Brie Larson was trash but not worthy of walking out of. Thor 4 was unwatchable but at least post credits were good. This was a rant about Ant-Man not being showcased enough and Cassie being a 25 year old Quantum Physicist now....for no apparent logical reason
im the same age as you, actually turned 23 a few days ago, so we had the same experience growing up at the same time the mcu was rising and loving it, it was a great time (i never hated dc tho i just wanted them to get better too). and i feel the same as you it sucks seeing it fall apart and its not fatigue, its just been garbage product lately, they have been focusing on the wrong things and characters, and they are valuing quantity too much. I personally think the Disney plus shows are worthless, none of them were good or grabbed my interest, they just seem experimental, they only water down the mcu. and i completely agree on the point that they should have ended it while they were ahead instead of running it into the ground, its like your reading my mind, i thought i was crazy for feeling this way and thinking im the only one, i wanted it to end because i kinda saw this coming before phase 4. if they did that the mcu would have went down as one of the most legendary feats in all of film, and entertainment in general, but at this point people will remember it as "that thing that was kinda good once" actually if they keep going, at some point the mcu will be mostly garbage. if they went out on their high note they would have been goated. i guess its true that you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villan lol. its a sad to see. great vid, good takes, great cosplay. and batman is also my favorite super hero. subscribed. also plz marry me
I was very afraid this might be ruined. Post-Endgame Marvel has been.... yeah. And like you I was a big Marvel film junkie. I really enjoyed the Ant-Man films. Part of me still wants to go catch this, even though I know it will make me sad...
@@snarkyjay Indeed. I used to ALWAYS greatly anticipate Marvel movies since Blade & X-Men waaaay back in the day. Then Fox decided to murder the X-Men franchise with Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix. Then Disney went ahead and did it to all the Marvel stuff after Endgame. I mean I kinda enjoyed Hawkeye. But the rest of the movies/shows?... Nope. And as adequate at best as Black Panther was and how the Marvel stuff has been since Endgame I haven't yet bothered with Wakanda Forever. Some small part of me still held out some tiny hope that Quantummania wouldn't be ruined even though the trailers and general direction of Marvel live action "entertainment" has been going would say otherwise. Maybe if I bother with Quantummania at all and go in with my expectations shattered into the gutter I won't totally despise it. In the thousands of movies I've seen in theaters in my life time I've only walked out of ONE movie. This might be almost like a challenge now...
@@joeseph4040 Was Endgame as good as Infinity War? Nope. Was Endgame drastically better than any of the shows/movies since? Absolutely. DC is very hit & miss for me. First time at your channel. Visited out of curiosity. Pleasantly surprised at your objectiveness and excellent communication skills. Snarky Jay is NO dummy. She's smart and articulate.
My wife left the theatre after the first half (went back to my car to better spend her time on her iPhone) and I stuck through for the 2nd half but... don't care anymore and I share your sentiment. Khan was defeated by... something that felt insane (especially if he can't recall how many Avengers he has killed before) and the bonus scenes were... meh... Don't care and if Marvels 2 is the next thing, Marvel/Disney can go their own way. I don't "feel" it anymore, especially as it shows that Marvel is just pushing out these movies without any 'love' or passion anymore...
It is fine if you are done with it. I went through the same thing with Star Wars. Aside from the Mandalorian and Bad batch, there is not a lot keeping me invested in.
@@Thedreamlandfire It isn't that. This is a matter of not being able to produce actually good stories. Most of their recent content is lacking in terms of good writing. Which is a problem with most of the DCEU movies

It’s not super hero fatigue, the movies just don’t hold up as well as they did earlier script wise. I think I see some improvements, but something weird is definitely going on behind the scenes. I think they are kind of just phoning it in a bit. Thinking “hey, let’s just see if we can milk it for a while now without as much effort to make some money”. Which I mean, is their right, it’s just a weird way to run your business because it will throw it in a grave. My (not much thought put into) hope is that they have been polishing and refining maybe their “Go big or go home” movies while they throw this stuff out in the meantime. If you drop the ball with the avengers, i think that is kind of the “unofficially” end of the franchise right there (because of their current movie climate). The rest of the movies from that point forward will be considered “Disney Channel Original Movies”
Guardians 3 will probably be the last one I see in a theater. After that, I will be happy to wait for them on DIsney+. I did that with Wakanda Forever and I didn't feel like I missed anything by seeing it 3 months after release.
Bruh I fell asleep during my first viewing of that film...I had to watch it in two halves...but this movie is legitimately better...it has a real sci-fi tupe of feel...like youre reading a classic sci-fi book from the late 60's...of you grew up with thay kind of thing this movie is a bit charming as ling as you van get by all the plot holes galore... its pretty mid but I think reviewers are getting disheartened because a lot of them have been carrying Marvels water thinking theyd right the ship and now that phase five starts out with a middling offering theyre upset.... Snarky on the other hand was already looking for a reason to jump ship which is understandable TBH
@@ChrisSmith-tu9bu It took me 3 viewing sessions to get through Wakanda Forever. Likewise, I almost fell asleep during Quantumania twice. It was like a bad, boring two-hour episode of Rick & Morty.
I've literally been over it since Infinity War. I have yet to see anything after that. I've been saying for years Thanos won. All of this other stuff is just a long nightmare he's having while he vibes on his farm. 🤣
Ant-Man Quantumania movie was your basic popcorn flick of stuff we've seen before from Star Wars, the bar seen straight out of Mos eisley Cantina, with elements / scenes familiar to Thor Ragnorok, Tron Legacy, & the Return of the King / Endgame final battle scene. It was a Mesh Mosh Pit of those scenes that we've seen before but nothing original. I went in with low expectations hoping to see something fresh. Jonathan Majors acting was Great! He was convincing & charismatic. He kind of reminds me of Tony Todd, (The Original, O.G. "Mr. Candyman!").
I've been done since Endgame. The only thing I'm interested now in Marvel is any of their supernatural characters. Werewolf by Night was fantastic and I'm looking forward to Blade and hopefully Ghost Rider eventually
I walked out of Quantumania feeling nothing. It was the most nothing burger of a movie I had seen, and I used to be an Ant-Man apologist. I even really liked Ant-Man & the Wasp. After reviewing Mauler's video, it was laid out clear as day why I didn't like Quantumania. That was the last MCU movie I saw, and will likely remain the last MCU movie I see.

I don’t like this movie either. I thought it was a OK film for me at first. But after a few days, I started to feel toxic after reviewing those stupid humour of the film. Paul Rudd and Michelle Pfeiffer are the MVPs of this film. They are the best part of this film. I used to like Evangeline Lily’s Wasp, but she was absolutely wasted just like Jonathan Majors’ Kang. Cassie looks like a silly teenager who screwed everything intense and emotional in this film. I also hate M.O.D.O.K’s MCU from a menacing villain into a stupid and comic-relief “avenger”. 😓😓
Yah, I agree with you. I think Marvel has run its course with this roster of superheroes. And I have stopped watching Marvel movies and shows and watching other things not Marvel. However, I am waiting for Deadpool 3 with positive optimism.
Jajaja good review hermanita, as always. I haven't been able to finish any Marvel movie or tv show since Black Widow (which I didn't like). So yeah, i am for sure done with Marvel. I'm too old, there are so many older movies and shows to revisit and too many great books to read to spend money and time with this garbage.
As I loved Antman comics, to me the movie was very good. Sure, some people hate CGI, and I do when it's too obvious, but this had moments of genius, working with different aspects of 'antness', even where I expected none. Add Kang, and the prospect of another possible two-movie event I can relish, and I was pleasantly surprised with how good it was, considering how so-so I was expecting it to be. Yes, I'm still excited for the future, having not seen many of those so-called disappointments yet. The best may yet be to come. If only the humor was more sophisticated...
New sub. Obsessed with pre-Endgame Marvel and now, I think they’re just pandering… Really bums me out. Love your analysis and honesty. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your honesty. I heard rumors about this movie and decided I would wait out the first weekend. I'm glad I did... and its reviews/reactions like yours that confirm everything I've heard before the premiere. I'm guessing they skimp on the VFX, because they know they have a crap story that isn't worthy of A+ FX.
I think its worth checking out..its not that bad, its generally a fun ride....just dont expect it to be some oscar worthy life changing movie..its flawed but good for one watch IMO
@@iamworthy1302 Why give Disney Money for crap??? I've already given them chances with Eternals, Wakanda, Thor and Dr. Strange. I think I've given them enough chances. I'm going to be watching it with my Daughter and her friends. Thankfully I will be there with her friends parents so I won't suffer alone. My daughter (13-year-old) loves the Antman movies and part of me hopes it is partially because of the awesome Father Daughter dynamic of the films. I'm not looking forward to watching her be disapointed by another Marvel Film. I'm hoping there is enough action that at least she will enjoy it. Superheros have been a think for her since I introduced her to Ironman. We've watched all the Marvel Movies minus Captain Marvel and Phase 4. She already was turned off from Star Wars so hopefully Marvel corrects itself before Phase 5 turns my kid off from another franchise. =(
If your daughter is 13, chances are high that she'll love it. It's not actually such a bad movie as Jay makes it sound like, it's pretty mid for any big MCU fan, but still looking great for casual fans. But if you didn't watch phase 4 (especially Loki, great series that setup the whole multiverse saga), it might be a bit confusing. Within phase 4, throughout all the rubble, my main recommendations are Wandavision, Loki, Shang Chi, No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness, and Miss Marvel (as a teen, your daughter will love that one, since it's about the story of a teen girl fan or Marvel getting superpowers). But definitely at least Loki before you go watch Quantumania
@@jjstarrprod So my daughter and her friends are teens but they aren't the typical teens. At 10 (maybe it was 9 I cant' remember when the movie came out) it was my daughter that asked WTH regarding bombs being dropped in High Orbit onto a starship.TLJ combined with the deletion of Cara Dune (my kid is into Martial Arts and knows of Gina Carano's work in MMA for women) destroyed her love of Star Wars as I have not been able to get her to watch anything other Star Wars films and she lost interest in the Series after Mando Season 2. She hates how Marvel has either killed off or turned her favorite characters into villains'. Being Latina it was not lost on her how the only Latin / Hispanic Heroes in Marvel have been made into stereotypes. Seriously in MOM the kid jumps dimensions illegally?? Namor gets his powers from having a "Wet Back"!?! I'm sure her culture and family influenced some of this but seriously how Racist can Marvel be?!? Even my kid noticed it w/o my wife or I pointing it out. I'm concerned regarding what I've heard about Antman 3 because while things like the BS comment regarding socialism may be just "SJW" comments to you for my daughter is was a "Socialist" group under the command of Che Guevara that murdered her grandfather. Things like this aren't going to be missed by her. While she (like most teen girls) loves to see Tom Hollands abs (I think that was in No Way Home or maybe Uncharted) she was not raised to be vacant of mind. Trust me it is something my wife and I sometimes regret but she will notice if they packed this film with agenda vs just a great fun time. I just want her to be able to enjoy the film as much as she loved Maverick, No Way Home, M3GAN, and Avatar 2.
@@jjstarrprod Oh and regarding your recommendations my daughter wasn't interested in LOKI once she learned how he got cucked. MOM was explained and she hates that Puerto Rican knockoff character of Latino Culture. Wandavision we both enjoyed until the ending. First thing she was confused about was how Wanda became so obssessed that she would torture an entire town for her own fantasy. The Lead Actor's comments turned her off to ever wanting to watch Shang Chi; as stated she has been involved in Martial Arts since age 6. She knows of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan is one of her favorites so (I can't remember the Lead's name) Shang Chi's Lead Actor's ignorant comments kind of pissed her off. Miss Marvel came off to her as some "kiddy" show and since she prefers teen shows like "Never have I ever", "Buffy", or "Lockwood & Co" nothing she has seen on RUclips has interested her in any of the shows listed; especially the Miss Marvel. WE won't be watching Loki before Quantum so it really does seem that Disney Marvel is going to lose her like the Comics and Lucasfilm have.
@@dagazrune6453 your daughter sounds like an awesome girl (to the point it can sometimes be a bit hard to manage as a parent). Sad that she's turned off of all the 2 big franchises, now. Though that doesn't mean all of Marvel has gone toxic now (Shang Chi is an excellent movie, done by people with a mission, and same goes for Ms. Marvel, which is doing a pretty fantastic job at portraying a muslim family and its tradition and intergenerational and cultural struggles. As for the "illegal" jumping across borders from America Chavez, that has never been the point of her character, in the comics, she's actually pretty badass, and her character in the MCU is building towards that, it's just that MoM didn't give her much to do yet). Don't worry about Quantumania, it is a fun ride. Sure there are some head scratching moments (if you're really into physics, especially quantum, none of it really applies to the movie, and yes, the infamous comments about communism, that last for about 0.1 seconds in the movie), it's not perfect, but if anything, there are quite a few lovely father-daughter moments in the movie that will cheer her (and you) up. And there is actually quite a Star Wars-y vibe in the movie, so that might bring her back in (so you can show her Andor later, when she's a bit more grownup, it's arguably the best Star Wars ever done since Disney took over, yes, I put it even above Mandalorian, it might be a bit more adult and dark for her, but if she's such a bright little mind, I'm pretty sure she'll love it) which might bring back some hope in her mind. And if really nothing works, you can bring her to watch Dreamworks Puss in Boots 2, the Last Wish. This one is genuinely a perfect movie that will blow all of your minds (it's in the top 5 best Dreamworks of all times, and I put it right up there with Prince of Egypt, Kung Fu Panda 1&2, and How to train your Dragon 1. And I put it almost in the same tier than Spiderman into the Spiderverse, which to me, is in my top 5 best animated movies of all times).
I honestly tried to watch Wandavision and only got through 2 episodes. I watched Falcon and Winter Soldier and kept asking myself why I'm continuing as I wasn't enjoying it. I watched 15 min of Loki and gave up. I enjoyed Spiderman No Way Home but that was about it for Phase 4. I have zero expectations moving forward for Phase 5 and I tried to watch a pirated copy of Quantumania and could not believe how bad it was. I'm done with the MCU. I collected the original Secret Wars series in the 80's and know that Feige and his people will butcher this. I have zero faith anymore and just won't put myself through this. The magic is gone. The writing is sub-par and it's just not fun anymore. I miss what the MCU was.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was a very entertaining action comedy. I think the vfx, especially for one of the characters was part of the joke. The introduction of Kang was very good, and well acted. From what I see audiences are also enjoying the film. But I can also say I think you are spot on with Wakanda Forever and Love and Thunder.
bad VFX should never be intentionally used as a joke in a movie like this. I can only accept it in a movie like Free Guy, otherwise that’s just lazy and stupid

Great Video, I saw the movie in theaters yesterday, I enjoyed it, I am looking forward to seeing guardians of the Galaxy volume 3 in May. Anyway great costume and your hair looks pretty and beautiful
The movie needed Wanda, Namor, Doctor Doom or a Fantastic 4 tease to make it interesting. But honestly I still think this movie wasn't even that bad, definitely better than stuff like Thor The Dark World, Shang Chi or Iron Man 3 which I consider to be the worst of the worst.
I'm glad to see young people calling Marvel out for sucking now too. After Thor 4 and BP2 I thought maybe I just wasn't the target demographic anymore. Marvel has been garbage for a while now and I think it's nostalgia that's still pumping those box office numbers to where they are but seriously...this shit is stupid.
I can appreciate your perspective, being introduced to MCU as a kid and now as an adult. For us old folks or at least this one, I still enjoy marvel movies and thought antman3 was solid
If there is ever a Moon Knight movie, I pray it will be good, but I doubt it. Although I did enjoy the series and look forward to Season 2 if that ever comes out.
Here is the thing with comic books. If you really like them, there is no outgrowing them. You're never too old to read comic books. And no matter how much other people look weirdly at you or criticize you, you keep loving it and letting people GFT.
Ok so Idk why ppl are saying this I'm done with Marvel thing cause first off. No ur not lmao. Just like everyone else ur gonna keep watching. But the whole idea why ppl say it it stupid and doesnt add up. Like did we really just have debates over previous Marvel projects or did we say it sucked? Thor 2 sucked. Iron Man 2 and 3 sucked. Hell even the first Captain America and Thor were just meh... Marvel has always been hit or miss and its nothing new but to act like they have done nothing but lay eggs is total BS. Just a couple of years ago they gave us WandaVision Loki Falcon and the Winter Soldier and What If and they were all great shows. Hawkeye meh but thats 4 to 1 and you telling me cause they had 2 bads ones its welp screw them... A few bad movies but one great one welp screw them... Were ya saying that when Thor the Dark World came out? What about when they made Iron Man 3 a freakin Christmas movie in May lmao. My point is everyone just needs to chill and stop holding Marvel to this standard of perfection that they have actually never been. She even said herself its not the quality we're used to... Yes it is if you were being realistic. The quality has never been a gold star on every single outing and never will be. Some things are gonna be amazing. Some things are gonna make us scratch our heads but it has always been that way. LITERALLY lol
I pretty much had the same thoughts after "Eternals" but decided to see "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" and that film was the final nail in the coffin for me and I have not seen any Marvel films ever since, and I am happy of my decision.
Venom 2 was the hottest of all that is garbage. Coming from someone who grew up with Spiderman/venom/carnage comics. I absolutely LOVED the carnage saga back in the day amd was over myself when they announced venom 2. The fact that they made it a pg-13 was such a let down. They butchered that character. They could've done so much with it, but chopping the balls off of it was it for me. There was so much source material for it, and hollywood just gutted it. 😢
@@rodriga1985 true. PG13 wasnt the issue, the issue was poor storytelling and a lackluster story to drive any motives or depth. Venom was turned into a joke and carnage was just lame.
Your right! All the MCU had to do is took a break after Endgame then after all their studio rights with Xmen was over then start the Xmen stories like the cartoons in the 90s
Umm they actually did take a break ( a whole year with no marvel projects after endgame) That break they took actually ruined multiverse of madness since the original storyline was way better.
"Superhero fatigue" implies that the audience's expectations have evolved. I think it's more the case that Marvel/Disney evolved. If they were still making films of the quality of, say, Winter Soldier or GotG, we all would still be on board. We all know that is no longer the case. There is no more heart or passion to these movies or the characters anymore. We didn't abandon the MCU. MCU abandoned us.
@@Omegeddon Check what I wrote though. I said after Endgame, which means even before Endgame I felt they were doing well (though I did think Captain Marvel was kind of flat). I agree that it would be foolish to expect many films to ever be anything like the final film in a massive arc like the Infinity Saga, and that isn't what I expect. I just want good characters and good stories, and I think they've lost their footing on that front.
@@Omegeddon NWH is excellent, but I'd give that W to Sony. Loki turned the God of Mischief into a punchline, WandaVision had her enslave an entire town and then be told "they'll never know what you sacrificed for them" while the guy trying to free the town becomes the real Bad Guy. Shang Chi was okay. Moon Knight had the title character on screen in the entire series for a total of about eight minutes, and so much of the fighting happened entirely off screen. They weren't all total failures, but they hardly stack up to what Marvel was releasing just a few years prior.
Gosh I love your contents. And I agree with you. Marvel died when endgame ended and I've been saying it. It's as if they're out of idea but still trying to drag something out of something they should have just left... I don't know how to put it but you said it all
Glad to find another channel that actually criticizes these films and calls it out as it is! I as well have been a Marvel fan since day one. Went to all the midnight releases, having loved Spider-man since 2000's. Marvel is just copy past garbage at this point. And it's sad people don't want to admit Marvel is going in this direction. For sure subbing, and stoked to catch more videos !! Great cosplays as well !

Wandavision, Loki, what if, Dr strange, werewolf by night, eternals,Ms marvel, and hell even she hulk all did completey different superhero movies and tried to do something completely different.
@@sotorc1448 Copy and paste in terms of the story beats What does most Phase 4 have in common?? The main male character being moved to the side to have a strong female character take the lead Now I am not saying you can't have strong female characters. Ripley from Aliens, Sara Connor, Selene from Underworld, etc. are all excellent characters! But forcing it when it shouldn't is what I think is turning people off But to each there own :) that's what makes media so enjoyable !!!
By the way, wanted to say if the MCU crashes and burns after this point, it's just straight up karma for Feige who literally went out of his way to do everything in his power to make sure every Marvel property that wasn't part of his universe failed and died. First it was preventing Dark Phoenix and New Mutants from being released, forcing constant delays and forcing reshoots onto Dark Phoenix. Then using New Mutants as a sacrificial lamb the first month movie theatres were allowed to reopen again in limited capacity just to test out the audience volume. Then outright Thanos snapping literally every Marvel TV series out of existence the moment Bob Iger gave him control over the Marvel TV department too.
The Fact that people are still fans of this stuff amazes me….i grew up in the 90’s born in 86…so my reference was Batman 89, ghostbusters, superman, robocop, etc…..to see what those things were back then had a small devoted fan base now to become something thats not been recognized for half a decade now….yea in truly amazed that Marvel or DC still has fans cause what the mainstream has turned it into….it had momentum with iron man….Id say even when “Blade” came out in 98 and helped Marvel out of bankruptcy is were it really kicked a little fire…but the momentum is gone and turned into something no longer being lead by people who care about the actual characters….which is why i tapped out a few years ago…the only saving grace i had is when i discovered Anime/Manga back in jr high which co existed with the marvel and Dc’s of the world….now Anime and Manga is all i have for my Super Power entertainment for the most part
THANK YOU!! I've been talking about how low the bar got reset, after "Endgame" with my son, who is a total MCU-aholic and buys and drinks the Kool-Aid without question. Same deal as you. He grew up on comics and loves the mythology behind the characters and stories. However, he just refuses to accept and admit that Marvel peaked with the Avengers battling Thanos and that its been a slow, but picking up speed type of descent ever since. For me, honestly, "Wakanda Forever" was what sealed the deal and left me just shaking my head with contempt for the future of the MCU. I now profess my disdain for Kevin Feige and Victoria Alonzo every chance I get. Either bring in new blood in the production and writing leadership, or just put the rest of the movies and series on Disney+ and be done with it.

Came upon your channel by chance was pleasantly satisfied. Thank you so very much for being objective. I agree with your thoughts on Antman and the Wasp: Quantaumania. The title of the movie alone should have been a sign that something was not right. It was overwhelmingly disappointing for alll the reasons you cite. I'm not totally giving up on Marvel Studios but Ihave one foot in that direction. Hopefully GoTG Vol. 3 will get things back on track.
Tbh, I find it funny how Kevin Feige and Marvel promised that phase 5 was going to be epic and amazing, and Ant Man was going to kick things off with a bang. Yeah things kicked off with a bang alright, a bangload of bullshit. Wasp apparently had nothing to do the entire film, Cassie was a little bastard, Hank was just there, and Kang "oh I'm about to go off". Kang has got to be one of the most overhyped villains to ever exist, apparently Jonathan Majors gave alot of marvel fans superboners because everyone was freaking out over him. Kang is apparently supposed to be this powerful being who wants to conquer multiverses, yet he gets defeated by a bunch of ants? If that isn't lazy scriptwriting, IDK what is. In my opinion, Marvel isn't gonna get any better, may as well watch them water themselves down even more. It was good to let off a bit of steam, nice video by the way. Earned a sub from me
I grew up on marvel and DC. What they have done to both worlds is ridiculous they're literally destroying stories for the sake of their politics. They could have went on for decades making trillions by just following the timeline laid out in the comics. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I hear ya, it’s hard to top Endgame and a villain like Thanos. I don’t think the future phases of Marvel can achieve that level of greatness again. However I’ll still be along for the ride. I did like Quantum-mania, although i can see how it was too weird and disjointed for many. Thanks for your video.
The MCU actually ended with Infinity War, the last actually good (Marvel Studios-only) MCU movie…with Captain Marvel acting as the Canary in the Coal Mine and Endgame being a huge slap in the face of the past 20+ movies. The way they treat each of the main Avengers throughout while trying to prop up everyone else + horrendously mischaracterize them at the same time made what could’ve been an excellent finale into a sign of what was to come. The only way Marvel Studios could feasibly make things right after all the wrong they’ve committed to fans is to basically retcon everything from and after Endgame…and take us back to “This was the Only way….” at the end of Infinity War. I say all of that as a fan of all the characters that’s deeply disappointed with how they chose to take the easy way out of giving them all proper endings and all in service of shoehorning in excuses for why so-and-so happens later on. - Banner Hulk was a travesty of character development & characterization. The way they turned him into a joke and how they tried to make it seem organic since it was a trend (starting w/ “Thor Ragnarok”) was just…awful! Plus, they threw away SOOOOOOO MANY OPPORTUNITIES to both redeem and send off Bruce & Hulk in this one movie…just so he could be a plot device. Marvel Studios has a hate-on for Bruce Banner and they’ve truly stopped hiding it starting with Endgame + stepping it up with She-Hulk. - You could clearly tell that Captain Marvel was an afterthought in this movie. They had to peel back on her beating Thanos once fans got suspicious with her solo movie coming out before Endgame. Also, I find it hilarious that people went from defending it because it was “a feminist movie” to forgetting about it even though Ms. Marvel and The Marvels are both being paraded by the media as “stunning and brave” - Thor becoming The Dude (fat, with shades and a Peruvian Poncho thing) and a gamer bro “in his depression” is soooooo terrible in concept, it’s enough to make you wonder how that even got off the drawing board. Just like with Thor: Ragnarok, the way we was characterized feels soooooo radical of a departure to the point it feels like a totally different character. Whether it worked for you or not is irrelevant. The way I see it, they just didn’t know what to do with him (like with Bruce Banner). - Cap going back in time to marry and live with Peggy Carter feels like a total waste of a character arc AND CONTRADICTS THE TIME TRAVEL MECHANICS that they set up! It shouldn’t even be possible due to them nor should it be possible for Cap to go back and “return the stones at the point they were supposed to” going by how they explained the process/branches of timelines. I could go on, but fudge…calling Endgame a good movie just feels like a total misnomer and an insult to the MCU as a whole. 😢
@@yeez13 totally understand your point of view, you have really great points (Thor as “the dude “ lol!). But you’re in the minority u know that right? Most loved Endgame, look at the revenue. My point wasn’t arguing if Endgame was better than Infinity War. My point was future Marvel movies probably won’t be up to the level of prior Marvel movies, Infinity War and Endgame included.
@@achaudhari101 I wouldn’t call it denial as much as I would call it people giving into the hype of it all. It’s the same thing with video games and TV Shows… People get subjected to a nonstop assault of advertisements (native or otherwise), read articles about said thing they’re being primed to love, and when they’re in an echo chamber of it they think it’s great by default. I’m reminded of how BioShock Infinite, Game of Thrones (in particular Daenerys as a character and everything Pre-Seasons 7-8), The Office (Reddit-Tier “comedy” that ran on far too long and dissolved into nothing after Jim and Pam left), Watchmen (the 1986 Maxiseries by Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons; overrated nihilism porn that was structurally incredible and well-written…but is a Literary Neurotoxin), and yes, Endgame (the most disrespectful thing Kevin Feige has ever made and something that completely runs counter to much of what he’d established) have all basically been dissected left and right as some sort of Lost Book of the Holy Bible but nobody really has any REAL observations about them other than the stuff they’ve been told to think about it. As someone who LOVED The MCU and saw all of Phase 1 & 2 in Theaters due to how much of a fan of the comics I’ve been since I was little, seeing the way they did the Finale to the “First Mega-Arc” of the MCU was…disheartening. Even more so when you realize that much of it (characterizations) was lifted from the worst iterations of each character… - Bruce/Hulk in Endgame = Thor Ragnarok Bruce Banner & Hulk, who not only lost his sense of self/self-assuredness in the interim between AoU and Ragnarok, but also is treated as everyone else’s punching bag when he’s Bruce Banner…which doesn’t track when you consider how low Thor is in that moment and yet is constantly knocking on him in ways that don’t seem…friendly 😒 Also, they made him do a f_cking DAB! The absolute disrespect… - Thor: see my previous comment above - Tony Stark: is exempt from this since he got the proper treatment in this movie Versus everyone else. This was literally just a movie to set him up as THE Man who saved the Universe and get the ONLY PROPER SEND-OFF 🤷🏽♂️ - Cap: Him going back in time to be with Peggy doesn’t really track with how he’d reconciled with missing out on it (See in Captain America: The Winter Soldier); considering how Sharon Carter was essentially meant to act as Peggy’s successor (in a more meaningful way), it feels cheap and nonsensical to throw away the “tImE tRaVeL mEcHaNiCz” they’d established in order to justify it. Sure, it’s a sweet moment and SEEMS like it works…but then when you consider how often the damn movie contradicts itself on how the “Time Travel” works (the screenwriters even said they “consulted” Quantum Physicists to “get it right”…before they change the rules for it 4x in the entire movie…). Oh yeah…and given what The Ancient One told Bruce Banner, “just returning the Stones to the moment they’d been taken from” couldn’t possibly work when it not only dooms that timeline to being subject to some sort of cataclysm…but it essentially creates another timeline to accommodate for how they’ve essentially stolen a key cosmic artifact from that point in time. Not only does it not make sense from him to “simply put them back”…but there shouldn’t be anywhere to put them back to anymore due to the fact those timelines are effectively no longer the same one that he’s returning them from. I could go on, but it’s not that big a deal apparently. It’s better to just pretend that something is perfect because not many others, who actually care about the quality of what they’re watching, will speak up…riiiiiight? Yeah…eff that. I won’t have any of that Big Chungus Neckbeard Redditor-Tier nonsense and neither should any of you 🤷🏽♂️
My theory on why Marvel movies keep getting less and less interesting to watch is that it kind of mirrors the source material. I think that the main problem with the MCU is that great comic book writers and artists such as Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Frank Miller, John Romita Sr and Jr, Gil Kane, John Buscema and Jim Starlin haven't been part of the comic book production line for a long while now. And with few exceptions there hasn't been anything really great about the writers and artists who took their place. Marvel comic books nowadays sometimes look great yet, when it comes to story lines, they tend to be really bland. So, the main challenge is to go forward with no great comic book source material to lean on. And the fact that the MCU has turned into this giant money making machine actually makes me very pessimistic about the quality of their future projects. Peace.
I was well over 23 when Iron Man came out... That's not the reason. I LOVED the chase scene in Emo Batman. Fatigue isn't the issue. The quality? Yeah, that's the one. Also 'stayed too long' = bingo. When our kids were young we never left a relatives house when the kids were fighting. We either left early enough that they were begging to stay longer, or, if a fight or feelings got out of control, we stayed until they were back in check and they were begging to stay longer. I've seen families fall apart because ever time they got together it seemed like they waited until the drama was in full swing before everyone went home. That was the last memory of every interaction.
I DIVORCED from Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios immediately after "Avengers: Endgame" back in March 2019. 4 years later and have zero regrets. Phases 1 - 3 is where you want to be as a Marvel Fan.

I'm also divorcing Marvel, but with visitation rights; if the Scarlet Witch shows up, I'll see it. But really, Tony and Steve are gone, they've turned Hulk into mush, Loki's testicles have been removed, Thor is now a doofus, and Doctor Strange, once the adult in the room, has lost his gravitas. John Campea has said that centering the next phase on the Multiverse concept was a big mistake, and he's right. There's nothing at stake anymore - anyone can be brought back, nothing can be counted on as real or lasting. There's no solid ground and nowhere to stand. A real loss and a genuine shame.

Well said my friend. I wholeheartedly agree. Marvel lost me after Endgame.
Very well said!

I personally think the Disney plus shows are worthless, none of them were good or grabbed my interest, they just seem experimental, they only water down the mcu. and i completely agree on the point that they should have ended it while they were ahead instead of running it into the ground, its like your reading my mind, i thought i was crazy for feeling this way and thinking im the only one, i wanted it to end because i kinda saw this coming before phase 4. if they did that the mcu would have went down as one of the most legendary feats in all of film, and entertainment in general, but at this point people will remember it as "that thing that was kinda good once" actually if they keep going, at some point the mcu will be mostly garbage. if they went out on their high note they would have been goated. i guess its true that you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villan lol. its a sad to see. great vid, good takes, great cosplay. and batman is also my favorite super hero. subscribed.

Yeah, it’s… a bummer and a half, tbh.
@@snarkyjay Indeed. I used to ALWAYS greatly anticipate Marvel movies since Blade & X-Men waaaay back in the day. Then Fox decided to murder the X-Men franchise with Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix.
Fair enough.
I never saw ANY movie in the MCU apart from Endgame. And that movie was watched in a nearly empty movie theatre.
He kind of reminds me of Tony Todd,
(The Original, O.G.

Haha, thanks for watching hermano!
I'm watching The Expanse again, which is damn good, adult sci-fi, the best TV that's been on in years.

Aww, man- at least you guys have the older movies to rewatch and bond over though!
Ever since Stan Lee passed, Marvel has never been the same again. I’m gonna miss those days.
That's the issue for a lot of people, though, that there always has to be a joke.
bad VFX should never be intentionally used as a joke in a movie like this. I can only accept it in a movie like Free Guy, otherwise that’s just lazy and stupid

I pretty much had the same thoughts after "Eternals" but decided to see "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" and that film was the final nail in the coffin for me and I have not seen any Marvel films ever since, and I am happy of my decision.
I ended at end game. Too much needless comedy and family tones ruined it for me.
I don't blame you. I love Venom and that movie was... NOT IT.
True that!
It's weird. It seems like they just hit a wall after Endgame. Like someone flipped the "good storytelling" switch to the off position.
Right???
Its almost as if it took over a decade of buildup to get to the payoff of Endgame or something. Stop expecting everything to be endgame
@@Omegeddon Check what I wrote though. I said after Endgame, which means even before Endgame I felt they were doing well (though I did think Captain Marvel was kind of flat). Shang Chi was okay. Moon Knight had the title character on screen in the entire series for a total of about eight minutes, and so much of the fighting happened entirely off screen. They weren't all total failures, but they hardly stack up to what Marvel was releasing just a few years prior.

Loved the movie. Thought it was great. Can't wait to see where they go next with Kang
Prepare to be disappointed, have you seen the news about the actor who played him over the past couple months?
I finished even though I was 50/50 about walking out during the Cassie freeing the rebel prisoner girl your outfit is the bestest ever part.
LMFAO
Black Adam was way better than the last 4 MCU movies
Can't believe I went to the cinema to watch Kang killed MANY AVENGERS by his speech but was dominated by ANT ARMY 😂
That was one kang out of a billion
Dont worry he will be back
I divorced Marvel after Loki
I don’t blame you!

Hey, thanks so much! Hope you enjoyed the video. 😂
I thoroughly enjoyed Quanumania. I thought it was a good start to phase 5 in my opinion
can i ask why u think this
@@myangel1112 Jonathan Majors portrayal of Kang. His menacing presence as the definite villain for the next few phases. The dude was a beast.
@@myangel1112 it's not a bad movie, people keep comparing it to Avengers Endgame and Spiderman no way home which is no fair since Ant-Man 3 isn't as groundbreaking as those films that people compare it too, but what I'm trying to say is that people make the movie so much worse with them comparing it to endgame and no way home

Marvel and The Marvels are both being paraded by the media as “stunning and brave”
- Thor becoming The Dude (fat, with shades and a Peruvian Poncho thing) and a gamer bro “in his depression” is soooooo terrible in concept, it’s enough to make you wonder how that even got off the drawing board.
It’s the same thing with video games and TV Shows…
People get subjected to a nonstop assault of advertisements (native or otherwise), read articles about said thing they’re being primed to love, and when they’re in an echo chamber of it they think it’s great by default.
Even more so when you realize that much of it (characterizations) was lifted from the worst iterations of each character…
- Bruce/Hulk in Endgame = Thor Ragnarok Bruce Banner & Hulk, who not only lost his sense of self/self-assuredness in the interim between AoU and Ragnarok, but also is treated as everyone else’s punching bag when he’s Bruce Banner…which doesn’t track when you consider how low Thor is in that moment and yet is constantly knocking on him in ways that don’t seem…friendly 😒
Also, they made him do a f_cking DAB! The absolute disrespect…
- Thor: see my previous comment above
- Tony Stark: is exempt from this since he got the proper treatment in this movie Versus everyone else. This was literally just a movie to set him up as THE Man who saved the Universe and get the ONLY PROPER SEND-OFF 🤷🏽♂️
- Cap: Him going back in time to be with Peggy doesn’t really track with how he’d reconciled with missing out on it (See in Captain America: The Winter Soldier); considering how Sharon Carter was essentially meant to act as Peggy’s successor (in a more meaningful way), it feels cheap and nonsensical to throw away the “tImE tRaVeL mEcHaNiCz” they’d established in order to justify it.
I won’t have any of that Big Chungus Neckbeard Redditor-Tier nonsense and neither should any of you 🤷🏽♂️
Snarky stay fine🔥💯
Haha, thank you!
She's gorgeous.
I liked it. I don’t understand the hatred for it and I’ve been watching since the the First Blade movie.
Peace.
Thank you for sharing your insights!
This movie was a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Can't wait to see what's in store for Ant-Man, Cassie, Kang and the Wasp next!

Yeah thought it was a lot of fun and cast was great. Not sure what some people are expecting. It’s a comic book movie.

I liked it. It was fun. However, like the Avatar sequel, it had enormous plot and character silliness.
"Even Ironman 3"
Thank you!!! I was beginning to think I was the only one who thinks that one was a huge disappointment!
This is why I like your channel. You're an honest fan that gives real reviews.
Thank you so much!

I DIVORCED from Marvel Comics and Marvel Studios immediately after "Avengers: Endgame" back in March 2019. 4 years later and have zero regrets. Phases 1 - 3 is where you want to be as a Marvel Fan.
I did after Infinity war.
Thanos won. Perfect end.
So my sister wanted to watch this movie with me. I ended up sitting next to an actual Marvel movie fan cliche. Every single joke, despite most of them being pretty bad, that girl just force laughed so hard. Made the experience that much worse.

I think Jay you have 2 options: Give up on Marvel or accept that not every MARVEL project is exempt from being bad or disappointing. MARVEL is not perfect and even though they have been doing things in the wrong ways that doesn’t mean it will keep going like that. I’ll always keep in mind what MARVEL has given to us and accept their failures and mistakes although there could be a reason behind all of this.
The force of optimism is strong with you my son
Thanks for the review. I, myself thankfully could still enjoy this film. Might be done after secret wars (looks like Kevin Feige is done too after that), but right now I just feel indifferent towards Marvel films, no hype whatsoever
Well thank you for making me feel old. I doubt age has anything to do with it tho. The first Iron Man is still dope, watched it recently
You’re only as old as you feel!
That's called nastalgia. Most of phase 4 movies blow ironman 2,3, Thor 2, guardians 2, antman 2. You guys are fucking idiots to think anything can compare to infinity war. A movie that took over 10 years to set up🤣🤣🤣🤣
To each their own. Personally I loved the movie but I’m also a total dork and love quantum stuff lol
Hey, I’m glad you liked it!
Then you don't have high expectations because it was just crap.
I liked it to but that might be cause the last MCU movie I saw was Far From Home, so my mind has had a break from all the Marvel stuff so it didn’t feel as grating. It wasn’t the best movie this is more of a guilty pleasure but I completely understand why others are much harder on it and wanting something new from Marvel
@@Necromonger69 I guess you could say that. I was definitely excited for the movie but I don’t have insane standards for superhero movies
@@QuickShot523 Neither do I but the MCU had their shit together during Phase I and II and I collected comics back in the 80s so I just gave my age away. This movie was bad, rudds daughter was insufferable, the storyline had no substance, it was like written by 10 yr old I can go on.
I’m new here but damn u fine😵💫
I’ve been having the same thoughts lately. Been let down way too many times. The only things I’ve actually enjoyed and watched more than once are wandavision, falcon and the winter soldier and no way home. I was even pumped for moon knight and even that was boring. Im giving ant man a watch tonight even though I know what happens now, just to see for myself. The weird thing is , is that what used to happen with all the big marvel movies (theory videos, trailer breakdowns etc) I’m now getting for scream 6. A freaking HORROR MOVIE!! I’ve stopped watching anymore videos on that coz I don’t want to spoil it yet I don’t care if anything from marvel gets spoiled for me.
