- Oh, this video isn't about VCARB or Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber... why did you think that? I just thought I'd take a look through Formula 1's graphic design history and really appreciate just how bad Team Logos used to be.

Osella is by far the worst of the two. Forti Corse I can understand what they were trying to do, but they just failed the execution. Osella's looks like one of the stickers you find on fruit at the shops.
My first thought when I saw it was it was elongated for use on the car and as it sped by people would see it shrunk down.
Osella logo looks like someone is giving you a finger if you squint.

Osella is worse, its just ugly, the Forti logo could atleast be made based on a drawing from the 4 year old of the team principal

McLaren swoosh is classic because it's as simple as Nike swoosh, but more importantly it ties with their road car head lamp design. The balls you have to posses to have your company logo and key vehicle design feature to be the same
The Osella logo reminds me of a hand giving you the middle finger.

When I see the current McLaren logo, I see a kiwi (the bird, not the fruit!). The kiwi was on their logo from the beginning, and was restyled into the Marlboro version. So the swoosh, I would argue, is a logical evolution of the original logo, and the Marlboro version was a sidestep from that process, rather than the origin.
That Arrows logo is the worst; I at least like how stupidly bad the top two are (Osella definitely worse though). But two fonts, unintelligible graphics art and no sense of symmetry makes Arrows bottom of the pile for me.
Also, the Benetton logo you showed has a special place in my F1 heart. So liveriable. Hated the plain light blue they ended up with in the early 00s
Osella's logo looks like it belongs on a bunch of bananas and I don't like bananas so I'd say that's the worst
I do agree it looks like a fruit company logo but I WILL NOT stand for any banana slander! I love bananas, it's all I eat. 9 bananas a day. My doctor says I have weeks to live

The Forti Corse logo wasn't that bad, I think. Not exciting, but simple and clean.

9:57 HRT's is worse than Hispania?! Not trying to insult the Wipeout game franchise, but at least in a Wipeout-futuristic-racer-clone, that HRT logo would look great honestly. And I think it's quite interesting in real life as well. Am I the only one who likes it?

I love the Fondmetal logo.... I think they only changed it a few years ago.
counter argument... the swoosh of mclarens is originated from the Kiwi head they have had since the beginning in f1. Also if you look closely mclaren still has the kiwi head on their DRS activator, or also on other motorsport series. They always have it hidden somewhere on their cars.
It’s funny the Mclaren logo can be traced back to the Marlboro logo because it looks just like the Newport logo now
I would like to add Racing Point in the conversation. I don't know if there was anything else to the teamlogo, but always having that strange point on the side on the TV Graphics looked awful.

God, I miss the days when RUclips didn't measure the success of a channel by watchtime. Like alchemy, the runtime-over-brevity algorithm transforms clicking on an otherwise interesting topic into the feeling of being trapped in a conversation with a pub bore.
Thought I'd drop a comment to say I'm going against the crowd on this one. Osella has good design surrounded by bad choices. Forti Corse is just bad, the f is positioned poorly, the colours look like a spread sheet, they can't even make a flag look interesting. People say that at least Forti Corse had a design they were going for, but if you manage to fuck up an f and a flag, you shouldn't get pity points, it's that basic.
call me a psycopath but the Forti logo looks quite good in my opinon. I perfectly captured the 90s. osella though.. goodness me where does one even begin with
One pass through a ln actual designer and that logo would be infinitely better. The strike in the letter F is too high and the said Italian logo strike is too wide. Italics don't help too much. It is very close to being a bit good logo
I think the ethos behind good logos is the same as the rules behind good flags. It needs to be clean and simple, visible and recognisable from across a battle ground (or race track) and also easily distinguishable in tiny form.

They were much less common which is why I stopped at 1990. It was more common that the team just wrote their name in a normal "business" font

the Eurobrun racing looks like something from the 70s, when everybody was using warm, yet kinda muted colors. Stuff like Brown, Red, Yellow, Orange, Tan, etc. Shame it came from the 1990s.

it's fine tbh, just very boring. I think it's actually a decent logo for the streaming site, but looks a bit "childs toy" ish for F1
@@MrVsGarage the K itself is fine. It's just the Osella problem: too many unnecessary circles. It's on a black background with a thin neon green outline. If it was just the K with the Sauber text underneath, but scaled up slightly, it's be a perfectly fine logo

I actually always thought the Lotus guitar pick was kinda cool. I always thought of that shape as a guitar pick and somehow never put 2 and 2 together that it was borrowed from THE Lotus logo.
The Andrea Moda one wasn't so much a logo as it was a script, but I like it too.
EuroBrun looks like if Burger King decided to throw back all the way to their original logo from 1953 that most people today wouldn't even recognize, but still incorporate their current color palette.
Osella is like if Edsel had a Formula 1 team. Mr. V's squashed version is basically the Oregon Ducks O, but blockier.

i think you overlooked that the VR virgin racing logo was meant to look like a race track. i do agree with the "why is there 3 LOGOS on this 1 logo" but yeah idk, i think it deserves at least some points for creativity of blending VR with racetrack map shape font lol

Osella's logo makes it look like a low budget supermarket chain, so they get my vote.

TIL that the 98-98 Arrows logo was supposed to be 2 arrows in a quiver and not a sticky plaster that taken the scab with it.
The Osella logo looks better when on the nose of the car and you're looking towards it. Like the "advertising boards" painted on rugby pitches, it's all about perspective.
EuroBrun was a merger of Euro Racing and Brun, so just bunged the 2 logos together.
Forti's logo is actually decent, although it does look like an 8 year old made it.
I mean... you could say Ferrari still use that logo (the rectangle one), it's the badge on the front of the car since... well forever.

I kinda don't mind number 7 while it isn't anything special. It's not particularly offensive either. And there is good reason to why they couldn't use the original lotus logo.

Forti Corse... is not that bad, my biggest gripe with it is the font and the gray background. The logo itself looks... dated, but understandable. Osella is pure trash though 😂
