Most dominant pitcher of all time. His time at the top wasn't as long as other greats, but from 1997-2003 he was the greatest pitcher of all time. He faced the freaks of the Steroid Era and mowed them down effortlessly.
My first Red Sox game was in 2002, and Pedro was on the mound. I was 11 and had just started following the team, and I’ll never forget that experience. I was aware of his dominance, but I wish I had been able to pay more attention in the previous years to relish having one of the best aces in history on my team.
1999....he was fuckin electric. Greatest season by a pitcher I’ve ever seen. Like most Bostonians, I thought that team could win it all...until we ran into that team in pinstripes...
and to think he did this when a high percentage of players were "juiced" up. run support was abyssmal at times. Glad I had a chance to see him. I was only Bosox fan when he pitched.
The most dominant pitcher of all time PEDRO MARTINEZ. And PEDRO MARTINEZ DOMINATED in the steroid era when a lot of hitters were juiced hitting home runs left and right. BUT STILL PEDRO MARTINEZ DOMINATED THEM ALL. And ofcourse PEDRO MARTINEZ IS A HALL OF FAMER. 🇩🇴⚾️🇩🇴⚾️🇩🇴⚾️🇩🇴🐎
Pedro was the beginning of the tide turning in Boston Sports we finally got a great athlete in his prime and then Manny and and after that Boston was a destination for top athletes and all four teams were very competitive for a 20-year span
When Pedro was pitching u new if the red Sox score 2 or 3 runs it was pretty much game over he was the best pitcher I’ve seen with nasty stuff he was all fun and playful on the days he didn’t pitch but when it was his day he looked like he wanted to make every batter scared of him so dominating love watching him play
So violent. People go on about his changeup, and for good reason... it was breathtaking. But that is some fastball. He could have thrown that alone, and posted a sub 4 ERA. Throw an excellent curve into the mix and it was unfair. Maddux with violence.
Pedro was definitely one of the best in his generation, but Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens, Tom Glavine, Mariano Rivera, John Smoltz- were of the same generation... what an amazing group of superior pitchers..
The Biggest Contribution Pedro Martinez ever made to the Boston Red Sox was his persistence to the Brass on bringing in David Ortiz, known to all of us as “Big Papi”, after hearing that he was cut by the Minnesota Twins after the 2002 Season. The Catalyst of the Red Sox 3 World Series Championships In 2004, 2007, and of course 2013. It is reasons like this are why I will always refer to Pedro Martinez as “The Face of the Boston Red Sox”. He is All Red Sox, All The Time. A TRUE TEAM PLAYER!
Huge OOF by Minnesota in deciding to commit to Matt LeCroy over David Ortiz. Both were the same age, but Ortiz had gotten started in the majors at age 21 and LeCroy at age 24. LeCroy would be out of baseball after 2007, and Ortiz…well, he played 14 seasons for Boston, winning 3 World Series rings, and finally got the DH position respect.
collin355 FUCK ROGER CLEMENS! That Cheating Son of a Bitch who told Boston “FUCK YOU!” when he had a chance to go back to them in 2007, but he picked the Yankees. In My Eyes and Mind, Roger Clemens will forever be remembered in Pinstripes and you will never see him in Cooperstown! You know that Clemens had to be cheating if he has twice as many Lifetime Cy Young Awards as His Closest Competitors(Steve Carlton and Greg Maddux with 4 Each).

The red sox Ran into terrible umpiring.
They also lacked a good closer
and to think he did this when a high percentage of players were "juiced" up. run support was abyssmal at times. Glad I had a chance to see him. I was only Bosox fan when he pitched.
And I’m still convinced that his weight of 175 pounds was an oversell. (His official height and weight was listed at 5’11” and 175).

117-37, 2.52 ERA, 53.8 WAR as a Red Sox and capped it with a World Series title in 2004. Easily one of the most dominant recent stretches ever.

The most dominant pitcher in the history of baseball.
Not as much as Randy Johnson
Yes as much as Randy Johnson
@@AngryFart actually much more so. Pedro’s peak was unmatched.
@@lgrlgm8969 You didn't think Randy was good?
Pedro is the best ever
They say in baseball a great pitcher has two great pitch
But with Pedro you got three, that's what makes him a leyend.
Filthiest change up
greatest pitcher ever.
Yes sir because Pedro have the control in the steroid time
No me canso de ver este video, y lo disfruto mas cuando pedro poncha a pozada!
You mean Dumbo. You mean a nobody in even NY Baseball History.

I wonder if the Umpires practiced their finishing STEEEERIIIIIKE 3 before a game that Pedro was pitching in.
That change up was super philthy best pitcher of his generation hands down

Mesmerizing. Watch his hand snap to his left thigh every pitch.
steve steve Good eye! That’s a good note to take.
My pitching coach once told me he had the most complete perfect form he's ever seen and he was right. Balanced powerful and straight towards the plate
This dude would mow your whole lineup down, expressionless.
This is the best pitcher I’ve ever view in mlb.
Legend. Did anyone else notice that ump's crazy strike 3 call at 3:38? ha
In my book he has 5 cy young awards. 2002 he was robbed when Zito won and 1998 when he was runner up because Clemons was cheating with the juice.
