- I got a Bafang BBSHD 1000 watt kit for my 2021 Trek Marlin 7. This is a good day. Had to get the brake sensor so I could keep my hydraulic brakes. The Bafang BBSHD is one of the best electric bike Conversion Kits on the market. So far it has had the power to push my up and hill, and can do wheelies in the lowest gear.
If your looking to get a Bafang motor make sure you check your local laws.

Editing the Install right now. Many Bafang video to come.
One problem I'm working on is getting it to have a better chain line. Right now I can't get into the 2 biggest gears. I own 2 chain ring and got 3rd and final (I hope) on the way ( amzn.to/3NWTxn6 ) . This has a offset of 20.5mm, and I think I can get it to work. Will know more once I get it. Shipping is real slow.
@@Eric_Tennant what chain ring are you using? i have a lekkie 42t from my old build that im gonna put on my marlin 7, hoping i dont have any issues with it.
edit: nvm i see you linked the chainring you just bought. lmk how the 42t works for you! i'll have everything to finish my build on sunday probably
Lekkie 42t will work. Think it is near (+0.1mm) the same as the one I order minus the brand name. I just didn't want to give them $170 + shipping. Greedy they are! Let me know how it fits. Right now I have 2x2mm spacer on the motor bottom bracket on the drive side. Was needed to keep motor off the chain stay. 3mm total may work better. Not sure!
I think I'm struggling more with realizing that my cognitive health isn't what it used to be, and that in itself is a little bit more scary than what I thought it was going to be I had no idea just how illiterate my mind was becoming, maybe that's why I'm getting such high anxiety about this whole thing of building out my bike

But Eric, do you think that kind of power would be enough for me? My legs are not in very good shape anymore its mostly my hips, but I refuse to let them get any worse. I've got what they call ankylosing spondylitis it's a type of severe arthritis. But I won't be stopped AT ALL" but I may not be able to paddle very good some days you know. I just want to make sure I get a motor that's really really strong
Yea paddling is optional with this motor. Even with mountain.
My body can't do crashes so we're not even gonna think like that

It's June 30 I believe, Eric I am having a problem, maybe you can help me? I really hope, so I'm having a meltdown because I don't know what brands/ makes of bicycles I can turn into my ebike, man I'm having major anxiety over this, Eric how do I know which bikes are candidates for this make over, do you think you could enlighten me a little bit on this subject Eric please, and I'm waiting for your response in anticipation because I need to get doing this like in the worst way
Just about any bike can be converted into an e-bike. I find that mountain bikes work real well because they are already built strong. Bafang comes is 3 different bottom bracket sizes. You just have to match it to the bike you get.

Nope I went the slower cheaper road with AliExpress.
@@Eric_Tennant got you, sorry to ask but on amazon the description says i could either get the brake levers with sensors or brake sensors, but there’s no way to choose which mean i would have to contact bafang or seller on amazon to choose? also do you think the bafang battery are safe? i know it’s not a good idea to cheap out on battery specially on amazon, thanks.
@@dennyf57 You would message the seller for brake sensor or levers. I have not use a Bafang battery before but I do know the one that mount on the triangle are best for weight distribution and it looks like that how the Bafang ones are designed.
With their newest motor M.625 it requires it to be a Bafang battery. That why I went one model back to the BBSHD.
The only unsafe ones I know of are on ebay. They have a lot of scams. A few cheap ones on Amazon are lying about capacity. You can tell because they are half the size and weight of others. Unit pack power amzn.to/3knyxeI is one that I do trust.
