Finally got around to putting a Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust and a Borla X-Pipe on my 1999 C5 Corvette!! Honestly disappointed on fitment, however it sounds good! Thoughts!?

I did the Magnaflow cat back knockoff on my 04. It sounds nice not a bad deal for $349.00 hard to beat.

@@williammckeldin921 I still had drone at roughly 2500-2700 RPM however the car was never in that rpm range for long. Otherwise it was pretty quiet. Highway cruising in 6th gear was real quick at it ride at around 1500 at 70mph.

I just put that exact kit as well the K&N cold air intake on along with the 93 octane tune from my diablo sport tuner and im fairly happy with the results, just wish it was a little louder kinda going back and forth right now on high flow cats to make it a little louder....

I went with the magnaflow. I have the x pipe but I never put it on. I like the deep old school sound just the way it is. I think the x pipes make the sound Ferrarish. I dont know how else to describe the sound.
These sound great as a step above stock. But where it really shines is when you do cat-delete and cam. then it has a beautiful tone without being obnoxious like a lot of exhausts nowadays.

The car is looking great! Thanks for your honest opinion on the exhaust. I going to up-grade my c5 but I can not decide between Corsa, Borla or Billy Boat. I do not mind spending the $, I just want it to sound great and look good. I do not want an exhaust that the end tips will not be even, that would bother the heck out of me.
Yesss! Not sure if it’s just my set I got or whatnot… tons of guys on the Facebook groups are saying theirs fit great without any issues 🤷🏻♀️ I haven’t yet, but plan to reach out to Borla to see if they can help me at all.

A much deeper and throatier sound which is why I put Borla exhaust on my Silverado (as a "grampa" I put on the Touring but it still sounds great - and no drone!).
Might be my tune as to why the sound isn't actually "grampa" mode on the touring set up I have.

The S type aka Stingers have drone. The S Type II has no drone. The Atak also doesn’t have drone.

Stingers drone big-time and they are annoyingly loud. I yanked them off and are currently running Magnaflow cat-back. I don't think these companies focus enough on tuning their exhaust to make it sound good. They just focus on being loud, Especially Borla, Billy Boat and Corsa. It's not hard to find what frequency the C5 engine starts to drone - it's between 2k and 3k RPMs. Even with the Magnaflow there is a drone. Above and below that range it sounds fine. Still looking for an exhaust the actually makes it sound better but stays relatively mild until you put your foot in it.
If it did not fit should have exchanged it.
Bought it like 3 months in advanced to trying to mount it.. no turning back here. Got it fixed here later on after I filmed this (fabricator friend) and got a refund check back from Borla after submitting the information to them in regards to what we had to do to make it fit correctly. All good now 👍🏼

Bryan, I ended up having my fabricator buddy help out and get it to align properly. Had to rebend the axle pipe and reweld the muffler! I’m in talks with Borla now to see if any compensation can be sent for how poor the fitment was.

Sold her back in October or so.. we have an Audi TDI Q7 now that replaced it.
