I was having crazy brain fog and derealization symptoms that wouldn't go away, it's day 3-5 of me eating 3 eggs, having a scoop of collagen protein and eating some chicken liver everyday and i've been feeling greater than I've ever felt after watching this video. Might come back with more updates but just an fyi for anyone interested.

I appreciate your food vs supps approach but I think in terms of cost&effort involved, using supps gives far better utility, especially re folate/B12.
I agree. I appreciate the thoroughness, but I work as a flight attendant where I'm gone from home at least half the month. I bring my own food, and there's no way I can follow this with my lifestyle. I've taken Ancestral Supplements (who he advertises for) since 2019, though. They've been pretty life-changing and it's quite easy to pack capsules as opposed to worrying about meat going bad in my lunch box!

I eat a lot of meat everyday (.75 -1.25 lbs), particularly red meat and eggs as well. I don't waste my time on any plant based foods.
True, they didn’t do sodium benzoate in their foods and drinks either but I am sure they drank alcohol a lot and deserted to the terrace for more sweet gelatinous stuff. 😂

1 day vitamin B12...
4-8 G beef liver OR 8 G oysters or clams OR 12 oz meat, poultry and fish OR 24 oz milk OR 12 oz cheese.
Fresh flat leaf parsley is a amazing source of folate and can sprinkled over most meals.

No
Phytoestrogens, such as from soy, as well as actual human estrogen (estradiol), eat up methyl groups apparently.
What he said about a need for frequent if not daily intake of B12 contradicts what I have seen in other sources. Is B12 storable or not? The expert opinions I'm familiar with say it is. I just checked the wiki and B12 is listed as water soluble so that should make it hard to store. I'm not a vegetarian, I'm just confused by the contradictory information I have seen.
If you are deficient, which something like 70 percent of the population is, it's not easy to maintain b12 stores. Also you can't really have too much if you're frequently taking the recommended dose so it wont hurt but if you want to be sure testing is a good idea. Just be aware you can have high serum B12 and technically still be deficient in B12 because for those who've developed methyl traps through high consumption of folic acid at any point in life your body can't always get it in to the cell.
Agree. Hard to absorb b12, you need very good acidic environment in the stomach.
What do you think of Quinoa for Betaine? It has the highest content (630mg/100g, uncooked) and is also a decent source of Choline (70mg/100g). Assuming you rinse, soak, rinse (& pressure cook) it to reduce the anti-nutrients.

ive just had blood test and i have slightly elavated liver enzymes>? i havent drank for over 6 months but ive had lots of junk food and drinks and vapes i quit vaping about 3 months, so yeah i think i might have some fatty liver

What about all the oxalates that are in the veggies you are recommending we eat, that cause mineral deficiencies, kidney stones, joint pain, headaches/migraines just to name a few things.
Some people are sensitive to oxalates and should avoid them or see if getting enough calcium with them resolves the issue, since calcium binds oxalate in the gut and prevents its absorption.

Hi Chris, does the methylation protocol tmg amount of 1g mean it is over and above the choline required (given that choline can supply tmg)? And is 1g choline considered to supply 1g tmg? I know with tmg, 153mg is 137mg(1egg) choline.

Doing a low processes food ketogenic diet rich in animal proteins with skin on bone in meats, mostly red meats.. This ensured you can absorb the food entering your body well. Carb rich diets need more b vit as so much is wasted..not to mention meds waste as well. What's not eaten is a huge benefit. Fatty meat, liver. No veggies are necessary but if you do, eat ones that dont have gluten or other reactive properties inflicting symptoms on you. Tight junctions in gi tract are necessary to be healed for beat absorption. Folate in natural meat based sources. Keto on🖖
While looking at my iron labs and seeing on stopping the thyroid madness webpage on MTHFR, as it seems most related to my labs. High iron and TIBC, sat% (hi In, Ferritin 33, also B12 1250. Does that seems like a possible reason for strange iron and B12 labs results (am tired often, and feel better with B12, but used to love chicken liver and dont in last year).
Do eat lots of eggs and cheese so can that keep body from storing iron(ferritin?)
Are you asking if MTHFR causes this? Then no, I doubt it.

savewldlife 3 Raw Eggs may bind Biotin in your body, you should research a bit, i'm not shure how much biotin it binds.

@@cristianzaharia6573 At most, the albumin in raw eggs can bind about 27% of the biotin present in the egg itself, meaning you are "only" getting about 3/4 of the biotin you would otherwise be getting from a cooked egg (which is a lot). In other words, eat raw eggs without fear of "binding biotin"!

B12 can be stored for a while though? I had high 900 reading on a blood test, after not taking b12 supplements for a few days.
pretty sure it takes many months or even years for b12 levels to deplete to dangerous levels..
I also had high B12 Levels without taking any B12 supp's or injections, so Drs redid the Blood Tests which had come done some-what but were still high Apparently Drs weren't bothered as they weren't low, so I did some research I discovered MTHFR Gene

Why up to only half of choline requirement as TMG? What happens beyond that? Some supplements have way over 500mg TMG.
It isn’t as easily converted to the other things you need. Somewhat arbitrary rule to not put all your eggs in one basket.
It's common knowledge that flash frozen veggies retain more nutrients than fresh. Missing small things like that makes me apprehensive to follow advice from "experts". Can you refute my thinking?

Please simplify many of your rates to fewer accurate consistent suggestions, including adjustments & ranges; that are accurate with minimal assumptions. Many of your rate suggestions result in great variations in amounts/dosages, possibly leading to insufficient or excessive amounts; such as your multiple per meal suggestions, very confusing & inconsistent; just give overall rates (like per time period) (with any adjustment ranges) that people can apply/adapt to their practices, including how to figure, combine, or divide up.
I definitely favor that you use rates, which are much better & more adaptable, than fixed amounts (which so many people use & that is disappointing to me since requires many assumptions that may not be correct that it can be unhealthy for some people while healthy for others. Basically rates allow better adaptation to more people & cases/conditions.) So keep up with rates recommendations, just keep accurate & consistent with minimum assumptions (rates & recommendations that account for more cases/conditions/practices/periods).
Great source of folate...citrus peels. They are also a great source of limonene, which is a terpene, which prevents Rona. AND since Rona is radiation poisoning, and folate deficiency mimics radiation poisoning...EAT CITRUS PEELS!!

Egg yolks makes me feel bad, depressed and lazy. Most cholenergics do like alpha gpc and uridine monophosphate. But betaine is amazing, aftar a couple days anxiety is gone but my memory is much weaker. Any idea about the methylation pathways differencies?

Same here. That's because of a sulfur buildup from the egg yolks. I get major brain fog if I stack up too many sulfur rich foods back to back. Just back off of sulfur foods for a day or so to drop your levels back down or you can take a small dose of molybdenum.
@@KH-rg5mx now that you mention it, I felt bad on MSM as well. Regarding molybdenum, I find it always comes with NAC which also made me emotionally dull.
That's because you are mercury toxic. Eggs have alot off thiols which mobilize heavy metals.
Acetylcholine raises learned helplessness in animal studies (tipping too high, if already low restores cognition, but so many things raise acetylcholine I think it's more common to be already on the higher side)
I'm convinced that this is why I have melasma all over my face.

@@chrismasterjohn I ended up on SAM-e only because I couldn't get the system to tolerate methylfolate despite vit and min optimised for protocol. Was not on glycine, TMG, choline, creatine though. Protein intake was good however. I saw video on low ATP status making SAM-e necessary. Will this get better? I do have problem with oxalates. Very poor vit C tolerance - 0 in supplement form and just rdi in diet doesn't set off joint pain, FMS, uti like symptoms, vertigo, gastric irritation, chest pain etc..... Even worse with collagen, bone broth, gelatin. Never been able to find solution to this. B6 you mention 3mg per 100mg protein in Staying Immune Through Winter download. Do you mean 3mg per 100g protein?
Can choline replace folate? I'm homozygous C677t and having a hard time getting higher quantities of folate from food (can't eat legumes). Eating liver too often is said to be unhealthy and I don't want to supplement.
Choline can substitute for folate and B12 in the methylation process, but it cannot substitute for the need to have enough folate to prevent glycine wasting or to use for DNA synthesis.
In the video after this you seem to imply fixing B2 deficiency would go a long way in fixing methylation problems and for example lowering homocysteine levels with persons that have them elevated, or maybe I just misunderstood that other video and what is needed is all the things mentioned in this video? The food advice is nice, but I would bet unrealistic for 90% of the population. I live in Europe and don't eat junk food, but still never in my life gone to a farmers market and I don't think there even is any here. Also I haven't eaten liver in 40 years and am not about to start if I can avoid it. If the food suggestions are unrealistic to me, I bet they will be even more so to the average American so supplementation is probably the only way the average person without a lot of money and a personcal cook can manage these issues. It's also not worth eating 5 eggs a day to increase your cholesterol and elevate all cause mortality risk, just to fix another issue.

I consume 150g protein a day, 65g of it from whey protein isolate. Do I still need glycine 3g a meal as whey has higher glycine to methionine ratio? How do I calculate the glycine need on the protocol ?

Would it be possible for you to use ounces and teaspoons/tablespoons instead of grams? I have to keep stopping and looking up the conversion and trying to put all this together in a practical manner is overwhelming. I don't measure my meals this way or my collagen or gelatin; just preparing the food and thinking about what I should be eating is work enough. I wish I could do better, but I think most people are like this.
Through habit, it will start coming together for you. You remember how many grams to tablespoons, etc. You will also start to be able to "eye" it because you are doing this so often. Only once in awhile will you measure to check yourself. It takes time but, it does happen. I was frustrated in the beginning too. Make conversion charts of common things you need to know & put it on the fridge for easy access. Making the chart will help imprint the conversions to your memory as well.
Wouldn’t it be easier for you to talk in ounces than for all of us to create charts to figure out what you are saying and trying to look at the chart and figure it out while trying to listen? Why talk in grams when most of your audience, I presume, is in the U.S.?
Is methylation only for people who have a gene mutation or is it important for everyone?
It's important for everyone but with the MTHFR it's a bit harder and we need more of those certain vitamins.

Evan Rosenlieb no reason not to fill up on cruciferous vegetables. Goitre is such a non- issue. Lack of vegetables is the issue.

@@AtEboli you get phytonutrients from animal meat as well as vitamins and minerals. The need for fiber is a myth. I have personally learned this due my issues with fiber that made me present as if I had IBS. Well, I went fiber free and my IBS disappeared and has yet to come back. I am not the only one that has experienced this. I do however present my N=1 as something for consideration especially, for anyone with IBS issues.
If you talk about a 150 grams of protein. Then, how much is that. Because a 150 grams of beef, chicken or fish is not a 150 grams of protein, now is it..? Thanks for answering my question in advance.
Homemade kefir is an extremely good source of B12.

Marmite is good but you have to mind the yeast. Too much ain't a good thing. You can get it from alfalfa as well
Well technically marmite is yeast extract so it is not really yeast anymore : it’s just dried yeast juice with no more yeast cell membranes. But I don’t know if that makes a difference.
@@T.J marmite contains cyanocobalamin that means its fortified.. You really need methylcobalamin for the methylation process.. As cyanocobalamin will steal methyl groups

No more marmite then :( I’ll be switching back to quality non fortified brewer’s yeast. There’s a delicious one I get here in France. The brand is markal if any yeast lovers are reading this.
@@T.J marmite is an excellent source of other bvits and nutrients so you can still enjoy it dont worry but look for another methylcobalamin source too.. Cyanocobalamin is ok but it needs a Methyl group but it does split into methylcobalamin and adenocobalamin
BUT...If you have problem to convert folat into L-Metilfolat, eating too much problem folat is big problem...Like eating much Methionine.

Well, my choline levels are optimal and I eat my eggs scrambled. So, I am not sure about that. I do eat lots of meat everyday though (.75-1.25 lbs). I do not eat plants except on rare occassion and in tiny amount when I do.

In general, it is a good supplement.

Serum is a fraction of your blood and MMA is a chemical that floats around in your serum. I don't understand what contrast you are asking me to make.

Haven't tried Liver in awhile but I've been learning that high amounts of Liver can cause Vitamin A toxicity..
@@toneman8478 You'd have to be consuming large amounts daily or have an issue processing vitamin A for that to happen. A couple times a week or a tiny daily serving and you're fine. There's not even a recorded case of vitamin A hypervitaminosis from natural foods that aren't pufferfish or polar bear liver as far as I know. Most of those cases are from synthetic vitamin A supplements.

I took a complex B vitamin and I have the MTHFR gene (tested in a lab). I got a horrible reaction. Those with this gene don't do well with un-methylated B vitamins, and even the methylated versions can have you overdose on them as it is too variable depending on how much you need per day. You typically won't have too many issues with a standard diet higher in B vitamins.

@@enisturkkan5627 it seems to depend on weather you're overmethylated or undermethylated and to find that out I think you have to have your biochemistry checked and a whole blood histamine blood test done. If histamine is high you're undermethylated, if it's low you're overmethylated. People with ocd who are overmethylated should be fine on folic acid but people with ocd who are undermethylated should stay away from folic acid , it'll make them worse. That's my understanding of it anyway. I hope that helps.

Having moderately high amounts of methylated vitamins should take the pressure off your body and save its methylation capacity for other processes. I'm no physician, but from what I've been reading, you should avoid synthetic vitamins in cheap multivitamins and fortified foods that require methyl donation to be processed. So plenty of nutrient dense animal products and fortified foods as well as a methylated vitamin B complex, probably one with moderate B9 and B12 and not the extremely high doses you see a lot of the time. At least that's what I'm doing.

Regarding how frozen vegetables is not ideal.. I've always heard that they're harvested at the peak of ripeness and frozen immediately, so not many nutrients are lost compared to anything under florescent lights found in supermarkets. Why no frozen-food love?
Regarding how one should only soak beans/legumes only if sensitive.. and the water should not be discarded.. aren't lectins/phytates often cited as "anti-nutrients"? Also, if you consume phytates , does this mean you won't absorb as much of it's nutrients, or can it actually lower the nutrient absorption above and beyond what's in the beans/legumes?

If eating one meal a day you should have a day's worth of B12 at it. All nutrients are better absorbed when spread out, but B12 is particularly important and zinc is another one.

Choline for me is negative depression, nightmares, and laziness. But betaine makes me feel amazing daily doses 500mg thrice.

I took a tetenus shot in 2001. Destroyed my body. Still working on repairing. I also took 7 flu shots over the years to keep my job. 6/7 made me sick for 3-4 months each time, with residual effects lasting longer. I quit my job last September. Never again for any shot.
