I just found out she passed. I spent a many of a night falling asleep listening to this beautiful lady beautiful voice singing this song on a CD I had. . I love many female voices singing. To many to say anyone is my favorite. But I will include her in amongst my favorites. Nancy I hope to see you in Heaven one day.
i did not know this. in weird way i kinda' love that i found out here watching someone fall in love with her music the same way i did the first time i heard her. i've travelled and surfed all over the world with Flyer and One Fair Summer Evening. immortal in song ma'am👏✌🍻😎👏👏👏💕
Nancy performed Ford Econoline with the Chieftains on their Dublin Opera Hall live performance recorded as “An Irish Evening” album. Her singing Red is the Rose from that night was also awesome.
I'm 60 years old and am from Southern California. Sometime in the 1980's, I was NOT at Tower records but was at a shopping mall in Orange County. I remember not wanting to listen to the kid behind the counter at this corporate record store (Warehouse or maybe Licorice Pizza?) raving on and on about this new live album. It was called "One Fair Summer Evening". But just the way he was so PASSIONATE about it. He talked about this album as if it were London Calling or Exile on Main Street or something. It actually is just as much a masterpiece as those albums. One Fair Summer Evening is stunning and beautiful, rich and moving. If you have soul and have never heard any of the music on it, it will make you dance, make you smile, make you cry, and make you want to jump in your car with your favorite road dog partner and go on a Road Trip across America!!!! you NAILED THIS REVIEW SIR!!! GREAT JOB. RIP NANCY. -your music will live on forever out Across The Universe...👏👏🍻🍻😎😎✨✨🎶🎶
My husband and I just love Nanci..my three favorites are If These Walls Could Speak, Love at the Five and Dime, and her duet with John Prine..The Sound of the Speed of Loneliness.
The other day I was listening to her five and dime. I love covers, usually find a couple of nice ones and put out a three in one theme on my facebook. For the first time I found no cover, no version, nothing that could come even close to be worthy to be mentioned alongside the original. Griffith have a quite voice, but it is so so powerful.
“It’s like downtown Seguin, nothin to it”. Somebody told me that onetime. Haha. You should do Nancy Griffiths cover of tecumseh valley from the Townes tribute concert. So good. She’s got quite the voice.
I love "The Trumpet Vine"...Kate Wolf was so wonderful... So many Artist loved Her and Her Music. I recorded "The Trumpet Vine" on my "One More For The Road" CD... Nanci Griffith is one of my very favorite Singer Songwriters...Top Shelf.
@@lindanicholson950 ...Thank you Linda...I do. It is on youtube. Gayle de la Kruse "One More For The Road"...Druid Priestess Channel... My website is www.gayledelakrusemusic.com/
Check out the transatlantic session version with Maura O’Connell and Nanci Griffith. Jerry Baxter on Dobro. Superior arrangement. Also transatlantic session of Nanci doing Dylan’s Boots of Spanish leather. Awesome arrangement
Love that you’ve done a couple of Nanci’s songs. It would be great if you would do a song by Dottie West, inducted into the hall of fame a cohort of years ago. Country Sunshine, Paper Mansions, and Here Comes My Baby are some of her biggest songs and my favorites.
I love Nanci - this, I think was her best song. Thanks for reviewing it.
Good job buddy... thanks for Nanci Griffith
Had to come back and listen to this gem again today. Gutted. So long Nanci.

Nanci Griffith and Iris DeMent are national treasures. "Ford Econoline" is another fine Nanci Griffith song.

@@tfodthogtmfof7644 Thanks. I will have to check that out.

Nanci Griffith is an awesome writer etc etc
The song is a metaphor for a troubled relationship that still has a lot of love.
Love Nanci Griffith. Here's a related request: John Prine and Nanci's duet of John's song, "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness." Hope all is well!
Nanci Griffith and Iris DeMint back to back soul sisters,
Love the analysis Nanci is one of my favorites. that line our children live in the city and they rest upon our shoulders kills me everytime
The version of The Wing And The Wheel she did with the London Symphony Orchestra is flat indescribable perfect. It moves me.

You have to do her 2 historical songs.. Do Re MI and Mighty Storm!!
You should give a listen to John Gorka's "Houses in the Fields".
I’d like to request “the Randall knife” by Guy Clark, again!
@Richard Gruver Guess what’s up tomorrow?
