Dan,north florida..3/01/22👍
Sitting here almost crying listening to Don, George, Charlie, Hank Sr. Unbelievable singers. If only there were songs like this today. A true country song
This is my favorite Don Williams song. I used to hear Don's records sprinkled in with all the different types of music I heard on AM radio as a kid in the 1970s. What a wonderful musical education that was because we heard all styles of music and artists on one station! Don passed away in 2017, but I finally had the privilege of seeing him in concert when he came to a local venue in 2015. I sat near Don in the second row near the end of the stage where he was seated, and he looked directly at me with a nod and a smile in approval when he apparently liked the sound of my voice during the audience sing-along verse of "You're My Best Friend". I'll always cherish that moment fondly.
In 1977 my husband and best friend had this song played at our wedding. It goes both ways. I lost him 5 yrs ago to cancer. I know I will see him again, but I miss him so! 💔
Born in 68 and was raised on this good ole music. I just have not heard this song in a very long time. I remember it well, tho. Thank you for keeping it all alive!
Don Williams was a genuine treasure. God rest his soul. Don....this is the kind of relationship I have with my husband. I could relate to everything he was singing about right back to my husband, Scott. It goes both ways. :)
Amazing...that's exactly what Christine said after listening to the song! Seems like Scott and I are some lucky dogs! We wish y'all all the best in 2020. :-)
This song was on the Classic Country Collection CDs that my father gave me for my birthday when I was a child. Classic country started my love for american music and will always be my root genre. This song was one of those I loved even before I learned English.
I saw Don Williams in concert and he women love him. The entire audience automatically sings the chorus to this song. It's just beautiful and he was so talented.
I remember going to a party with my father and my two uncles when I was very young and they played this song all night over and over and over again at the time I did not appreciate it but I do now is a great song
Don Williams and what his music describes is the type of man our media has decided they don't want anymore. There's still plenty of those guys out there, but you're not likely to find them with an app. And the love he describes...the best friend/soulmate kinda love, is also still very attainable. But people have forgotten, its the inclusion of your Creator in the relationship that makes that possible. God blessed me with my beautiful wife Christine and I've learned that what I do to her, I also do to Him and to our children, society, pets, friends and on and on. As for the nonbelievers...don't worry...just keep listening to quality Country...you'll eventually catch on. :-)
Thanks Don, I saw him at the Cotton bowl in Dallas 1977 and was probably the best show I attended, such a great entertainer and has tooooo many great songs to pick a favorite, but thanks for sharing and as always"Howdy from Texas 😁"!!
I love this song this is a really good song I love Don Williams he was such a wonderful singer one of the first songs I remember I think it was a cover version that song It Must Be Love when I was a kid.
And this is why I am a huge country music fan. I don't care to listen to lyrics that mean nothing. And of course Don Williams' voice is smooth as silk. When he sings you sense that it is as easy for him as falling off a log.
Don Williams proving once again that he was one of the best! I'm what would be considered a man's man, strong & tough. But this song never fails to bring me to tears. I love the feelings expressed here.
Feel free to do Don Williams any time and I'm there! I'm sitting here in tears because I can SO clearly hear my mama singing along with this song. Man she loved Don Williams.
Don this is music that has to be listen to, you will never forget them , something go through you I like to see your reaction. Because I know most of all these old song. That is why we are hooked on this type. Of music There is always a meaning a story, a feeling that lingers on, I am glad that people can see some sense in that good way of singing
Don Williams is another of my favorites. Try Mistakes, Do I Look Like A Daddy To You, If Hollywood Don't Need You. My all time favorite was Turn Off The Light And Love Me Tonight.
I have always loved this song. I grew up on this kind of country music. My favorite song of Don Williams will forever be Amanda because I was named after that song.
Hey Don, you're right, it was released in 1975 as the title track of his album, one of his number one hits too. I've seen my mother's old notebook with the written lyrics of this song, also the first Don Williams song I've listened to. Fell in love with it instanly since I was 4, the earliest I can remember.
Don Williams is my mother's all time favorite artist, so I was raised on that velvet voice. My parents had that kind of relationship and I proud to say ours is following in their footsteps.
I think this is his best song. That describes me and my second wife. We were such good friends that when I got out of a disastrous marriage, we decided to get married although we had never dated. We were married 25 happy years before I lost her to brain cancer. She continued to be my best friend until the day she died.
Always loved the Don and even more the last couple years to me he's a prime example of less is more so smooth and brings me right back to the great times me and dad had back when he was trucking all over Europe and would really recommend listening to Maggie's dream or broken heartland
I recommend "Another Place, Another time" by Don Williams, Don Williams is one of my favorite singers, I have all his albums, digital tho, since it's hard to buy vinyl here in the mountains of the philippines. I'm 17 YO Filipino by the way. Grew up listening to county music cuz of my dad, it's popular amongst us in the cordillera and cagayan Region especially among older folks. Love ur channel, thanks for reacting to this song.
Also known as, "Mr. Easygoing"... Relation to the Williams boys, for those who want to research that. He wrote the song, "Good ole boys like me", which is true to his style, and character. Another good song Don, if you haven't already...and great reaction on this one...
Don Williams is one of my favorites as well. " Living on Tulsa Time" has to be my favorite. He is like George Strait in the fact I don't think he has a bad song.
He has some great love songs. "I've Been Loved By the Best" (check it out also) is just as good as "You're My Best Friend". He and his wife must have had one of those special marriages, married over 50 years.
Hey Don, Don Williams is one of my all time favorite artist! Such a natural, smooth delivery on everything he performed. In my opinion a style all singers should aspire to, within their personal capabilities. BTW, not sure which one came first but, this same melody and mostly the same lyrics were used by a southern gospel group on an album and in there performances. This tune has alot of wonderful miles on it!!... LOL Anyway, great job again. And thanks for remembering one of the best singers ever! Keep RN2C!!
Love that song. Actually sang that fir my wife long time ago and totally was god awful but she loved the attempt. I have so many favorites and this us right up there near top. Good rating 😁 Along same lines Dan Seals- If I Had Only One Friend Left. Love RockN2Country 🥰🥰🥰

Truly one of the most underrated country singers of all time. There's a simple charm to all his music that just makes you fall in love with it.
In 1977 my husband and best friend had this song played at our wedding. It goes both ways. I lost him 5 yrs ago to cancer. I know I will see him again, but I miss him so! 💔

And it's important for men to reciprocate and be the helper in your woman's life. And, as the reactor says, "tell her she's important to you."
Great review of the gentle giant. Loved Don Williams! He lived his life on Tulsa Time.
