Prey is my favorite Game of all time, the attention to detail in the world is second to none. I mean they even said they had engineers and architects help them design the station to make it futuristic but realistic at the same time. Honestly it would take an essay to state everything I live about Prey and Mooncrash. Glad to see others appreciate the game as well, great video!
I just finished it for my first time and I loved it The only thing that was annoying was I got lost a bunch of times. Yes that may be my stupidity but I do feel that there could’ve been a tiny bit more guidance.
I'm playing mooncrash for the 2nd time and my mind still gets blown! So glad others feel about this game the same as I do. Sometimes, I love just playing as long as I can and collecting sim points. I love how powerful the characters become after grinding for neuromods and sim points...I can stay alive with Vijay on Lvl5 corruption for a longggg time. I also love unlocking/hacking everything w/ Claire and then repairing everything with Joan. Repairng all of the broken turrets are good gifts to leave the other characters (except for alex lol)
@@ajm2487DEFINITELY more guidance. There were lots of times where my waypoint wasn’t telling where i was supposed to go, and also the climbing is kinda annoying. Have to be perfectly aligned with the gloo balls to mantel them
I bought Prey two years ago. I played it for few hours, and I enjoyed it. I knew it was something special but I didn't continue playing it. I saved it for later. I returned to it the last month. And MAN, it is a GREAT game.
Dude THANK YOU for this video !!! Most ppl just gloss over Mooncrash at the end of their prey videos I’m so glad you made a stand-alone video . Beat prey thrice so far but never completed Mooncrash. Not going to lie, a small tear was shed while watching the video. I'm really proud about what you put out and seeing where you came from. I'm here for all of it and wish you the best along the way. Remember, keep your feet on the ground and keep grinding! Love you bro

I’ve loved this game ever since I discovered it through Markiplier in 2018 and have been borderline obsessed with it ever since and I’ve finally been given the opportunity to talk about it in depth thanks to my newest college assignment and it’s now that I’m realising that there is so much I know and love about this game that it might actually prove to be difficult to put on paper
Very articulate, insightful review. I agree; Prey is one of the greatest, most underrated games ever made (perhaps the single most underrated game ever), and Mooncrash improves upon its strategic gameplay elements with the distinctive way it implements a roguelike system. Also, I'm not sure if you did this intentionally, but there's a great strategy for getting the "Three-Body Problem" achievement (trapping 3 enemies with a single Gloo Charge) at 9:33.
@@formbi I did not know that! Thanks for that fun bit of trivia. I wonder whether the achievement is a reference to the physics concept or the novel (or both). The fact that the novel was adapted into a TV show that stars the person who did voice acting in a game featuring an achievement with the same title plays into sci-fi concepts like the multiverse & metaphysics as well!
I absolutely hated Mooncrash but I pushed through. I left a nasty review. Then I started understanding and updated my review. Then I finally figured out how to play Mooncrash and freaking loved it... Updating my review again with a glowing review. Then replayed it many times trying to max out and solve everything. I wish more people would have taken the time to learn the mechanica of this game....learn how wonderful...fun...and challanging it is.
I lost one of my crewmates when I neglected to reset the simulation and panicked when overwhelmed by monsters. It was really frustrating knowing that I had to reset my entire run if I wanted to get all of my crewmates out alive, but watching your video really made me see it in a different way. I am glad I learned from that mistake and I hope I don't go in my third retry as cocky.
I've seen gameplay of Prey, and after a really long time, I picked up a copy and I've been grinding through it. It's surprisingly fun, considering the atmosphere the game gives off. But it really does a good job with having the player making uncomfortable decisions, whether it's walking around a room where you know you're gonna be jumped by a gang of mimics, or pumping yourself up with the courage to kill your first Nightmare, that alongside the massive area of exploration, story, and lore (especially on the Typhon side of things) really make this game shine.
Despite Prey being my favourite game and having played through the main game 5 times (at least!), I personally prefer Mooncrash because of it changing each playthrough and having to adapt accordingly. I remember doing a run with Riley and forgot to buy any weapons for her. I spawned in an area I had already looted and, stupidly, left nothing to help future runs. I somehow managed to complete all my objectives with her, dodging past telepaths and their mind controlled humans, sprinting past tentacle nests and locking doors behind me, waiting for enemies to loose interest. All with no weapons and a whole lot of luck, it's my most proud gaming achievement which probably won't be beat. This game really deserves more love, I'm happy to see someone love it as much as I do. Great vid!
Any tips? I'm struggling out here. Have 2 characters unlocked, the skinny dude and the engineer girl also 30,000. But coming back to it after years and I can't even get past this damn moonshark

I want to point out your section about the reviews, the game was generally very well received from critics sitting in around the mid 80's on metacritic with several 90-100 scores. IGN's review was a clear outlier and it was only so low due to a very specific game breaking bug they dealt with. I'd still say the game is underrated but there were definitely plenty of critics who loved it and heralded it as the best immersive sim of it's generation
I stopped playing this game for like a year, and when I came back it became one of the best immersive sims I've played. SS2 was my favorite ever until Prey, and I liked it more than Alien Isolation. Id like to say you inspired me to get back on prey after not playing for 5 years and only having 19 hours in on ps4 and giving up on mooncrash after one death i just restarted mooncrash and unlocked 3 characters in one run
I was sick the last few days and took the time to play Pray. My good its been a while since I felt this immersed in a world. Mooncrash is downloading right now.

Hey, FranklyGaming - I'd suggest to check on Pathologic 2. It's an obscure game made by some developers that is pretty much a mirror to Prey Moon Crash. I loved both, and the thing is - Mooncrash always rewards you, in the end, for your efforts. Pathologic 2 uses similar mechanics, such as time/corruption, and in the course of 11 days manages to throw at the player some of the most frustrating, yet intriguing (and sometimes outright brilliant) scenarios to solve. Highly recommended, it's a gem in the rough.
Really appreciate the kind words! Ya have no idea why my views and ctr are so low but the icebergs have doubled my subs in the last week so finally get some traction
I just finished the main story and I can say that I loved every second of it. The only problem I had was the enemies, in most situations they felt overpowered or maybe it was just me but I ended up using a trainer. Next up is Mooncrash.
I didn't buy this DLC because as soon as i read "time limit" and stuff, this DLC was dead to me. I never understood why and how people can enjoy time limits and being forced to haste. Time limits are just annoying. They don't add anything, they are just stressful. Prey is a game with a lot to discover, taking your time always gets rewarded. And it's fun to goof around with solutions. Time destroys all that.
Just started prey, I had a huge grin when I threw a turret, deployed it and then I manouvred back n forth behind it luring the mimics into the turret fire.
I just finally finished mooncrash after like 2 years of stopping and starting it.. at first I didn’t like it, it seemed impossible to finish, so I stopped playing.. then I came back and unlocked all characters, but again I felt like I’d never be able to finish it so I stopped again.. 3rd times a charm cuz when I came back again it all just clicked.. what really changed the entire vibe of it for me was when I finally realized u can use emp charges to disable the gates lol so yeah after all this time I finally finished mooncrash and I absolutely loved it
I heard the game director of Deathloop mention they hadn't played ANY of Mooncrash before the release of Deathloop... Everything made sense, not a bad game perse but such a step down from Prey/Mooncrash
Prey is indeed a very good game. It reminds me of another great game , that is also different than most AAA titles, and people find it as pray, difficult to accept its greatness. That is Death Stranding....
I loved Prey and found Moon crash to be a lot of fun. I had never heard of it until after it was out and borrowed it from a friend. The gameplay I loved as well as the story (even though the twist was telegraphed way in advance). Moon crash is great too but I only ever played through it once. Kept expecting a similar twist at the end though
Yep Prey is one of the best games ever. I’m the same as you. I put it down at first and then came back and fell in love. Just getting started on Mooncrash and this video has me excited
I love MoonCrash but have never been able to finish before the difficulty accelerates beyond my skill level. Maybe it’s a console thing or maybe I’m just not very good. That didn’t stop me from playing it for hours every day.
Bruh, I took ur advice n u weren’t lying, this game is fantastic.. I downloaded the moon crash dlc also but I’m gonna wait until I finish the base game to try it .. I see so many similarities to cyberpunk in this game, u can see cdpr took a lot of inspiration from rhis game, and I can’t wait to continue my play through and eventually try this dlc out
This is typical though. Most of my favorite games I consider underrated or underplayed: Prey incl. Mooncrash, Signalis, Super Metroid, Axiom Verge, and Critters for Sale, to name a few.
What do you mean by vending machine. I just beat prey Moon crash after I bought it when it first released for the first time and I did not see one vending machine unless you're talking about the fabricator that's the only thing I think you'll be talking about. If that's the case I did not know you could electrocute it to make it give you items which is nice to know. Unless you're talking about the little drink holder thingies.( Actually while typing this out i decided to replay it and I electrocuted the drink holder and nothing happened so I don't know what you're talking about that vending machine thing unless it's something else entirely.
Ya that’s what I mean publication, I actually mixed up the title and thumbnail form the original drop cause it had such low clicks lol, thanks for supporting the channel by the way means a lot!
While I do appreciate your view on the subject, still idea of forcing myself to play through a videogame is a bit too much. I've played a few of Rogue-like games, and never had an issue like this. Probably, because I've never viewed Prey on genre different from Immersive-sim so it's hard to move away from previous experience, which on it's own is hard already. I dropped it recently for reasons most people described previously, but because of you, will probably come back to it in sometime. Thanks, perhaps? We'll see later :)
Wait you played this too? Sadly none of my friends where willing to play this DLC.. I loved Prey and the DLC. Played a lot.. Got the achives on console ( all ) and almost all on console.. Admittedly I stopped on my Typhon run. I was refusing to due the duel/all ending in one run thing. I wanted to do a run for each.. I already did a human/tech thing. So I was doing a Typhon run with killing everyone. Since I saved everyone in the other. Not how I did things on console I admit lol.. ( Side note I tried getting my friends into Prey and Mooncrash.. I was abled to do so with Prey but not Mooncrash for some reason. ) The DLC was interesting and a bit tough. I liked what they did.. Admittedly I did not play it as much as I really wanted to. My system at the time sort of died on me.. I have a new system now that is really, really good compared to that one.. That could run this game a lot better than the previous one did. ( I mean.. It run the game well still but not as good as it could have been. ) I admittedly never finished Mooncrash. But I did get fairly far into it. Just not fully finished it sadly. *EDIT* I know I got to the point where I could rescue a portion of them.. I want to say it was 3 but It could have been just 2.. I was working on another when my computer decided to have its meltdown.. >< That is why I never finished it.. by the time I got a new system I sort of forgot about it and there was other games at said point.. And I guess in a way going back just to finish the achives on Prey, and then go after moon crash.. was not something I thought of.. At least not till this comment.. I might re-install and try to finish.. Though I remember trying to kill all of the humans is not easy due to how the AI in the cafeteria is and what is there lol.. If they die due to the typhons you do not get credit.. It ALL has to be by your hands basically.. You also have to meet them.. So even some of the hidden-ish characters and main characters need to die by your hands.. Its very much a evil ending in a way.. But in a way you can also say it was not.. Oddly it could be considered justice for what these people did with the Typhons..
Ya mooncrash and prey are so under loved it’s pretty sad I think, but it’s cool to see others like you and I really enjoyed them! Thanks for leaving the comment and supporting the channel!
Prey and Prey Mooncrash were the best games I ever played. And yes, it is the knowledge of mechanics which makes the player stronger not just the RPG elements. Also Deathloop is garbage.
I love Prey but couldn't get into Mooncrash, for that reason I've refunded it before it was too late to do so. Possibly it's just my own issue, I love your review on it though
Just found your channel a few hours ago when searching random stuff about Cyberpunk 2077. Great content man, keep up the great work. Regarding this video... It's very disappointing that Prey/Mooncrash never got the recognition it deserved. Meanwhile people say Breath Of Wild is the best thing mankind ever created *(it's a great game, but far from the ultimate masterpiece it's considered to be imho. Especially when you consider that several of it's mechanics were already mastered by games that came before and the so called feeling of freedom in such a beautiful world, being something that I and many others felt in several games for more than a decade at that point).* In the end I guess everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, sadly that means some games, movies, books and even songs go under the radar for the majority.
I definitely wouldn't say that Prey outdoes Deus Ex 1 in every way. I've just finished Prey and definitely loved it (the atmosphere is one of the best I've ever seen) but while it gives you a lot of freedom it doesn't push it to the point of letting the player play in a completely wacky way like in DE (or even Dishonored). The writing isn't as good too, imo.
This video gave me so much anxiety about being hard and not beatable, that I just don't want to even touch it. And Prey was one of my favourite games ever, I gave it 8.8/10 just last month. But the premise of this... sounds very, very tedious.
Especially that I'm not good in action gameplay and always use much more resources than I should. Not being able to grind items and/or abilities sounds dreadful.
You can grind resources and abilities. I usually gain more points than I spend in a run, and neuromods don’t reset each run. A lot of the game can be completed by avoiding combat. Bring a stun gun and ammo with you each run to ensure you can get past the typhon gates. I bought it at launch and just redownloaded it to play it again. If you like the base game, I highly recommend mooncrash.
You don't need to spend simpoints or use the 'mule' to complete a run in Mooncrash. I realized those were basically cheats and refused to use them. I actually emailed Bethesda a long time ago with an idea similar to this, comparing it to quantum-leap, and lo and behold there is an achievement called quantum leap for moon-crash.
I just finished Prey I really enjoyed the game but for one thing... the combat. Enemies are way too op, you are way too under powered, the balance is all wrong. Not a single time in this game when I was killed by enemies did I feel like it was fair because it wasn't, it was just cheese. And that includes the Nighatare shooting you through walls and getting stunlocked to death. That being said, I didn't get any typhon powers because I thought there would be some significant catch in the story as it alluded to. I was disappointed to discover this is not the case. That does however mean I have a whole combat tree unexplored. By the time I got to Mooncrash I just had enough and couldn't be bothered Watching your video has made me want to go back
Unfortunately, ost people these days just want to get together with their friends and fight some enemies, then watch a pre scripted cut scene. Nobody wants to think or make choices. Personally, I want to make my own story, based on my planning, not my reaction time.
Hello and excuse me, can I translate this video into Chinese(21% has done) and transport it to bilibili(a Chinese video website)? I will sign your name and the addresses in the introduction and I won't get any income from this transport. I love this game and want more Chinese people to know it. I played Prey for about 2 hours and drop it, but after hear you talking about it, it's time to try again!
"You are an unknown hacker named Peter"
Bro, you said his name, that means hes known...
I got all trophies of mooncrash all characters alive, all improvements installed, all collectibles founded, i,m with u 100%
"when you first step for on the moon base, you don't know about... you don't know about..." Well, unless you watched this video before playing.
I saw this DLC before, but never got it. I may need to rebuy Prey and check this Gem out!
bro said Riley Ru
I see you 👀 good catch before you fully slipped 😂
LOL someone noticed 😂
Prey is indeed a very good game. It reminds me of another great game , that is also different than most AAA titles, and people find it as pray, difficult to accept its greatness. That is Death Stranding....
I'm at the threshold...thanks for sharing :)
great video me
Thanks me
True... that guy makes wonderfull videos about games i unfortunetly never played xD
I have finished Prey, it is one of the best games ever. It is in my top 5, it surprised me a lot.
"better than the actual base game of prey"
Absolutely not.
I see so many similarities to cyberpunk in this game, u can see cdpr took a lot of inspiration from rhis game, and I can’t wait to continue my play through and eventually try this dlc out
I agree. This game is dope and mooncrash is just nuts.
Thanks for the vid
Thank you for watching!
This is typical though. Most of my favorite games I consider underrated or underplayed:
Prey incl.
Did Bethesda have any hand in the production of prey besides publication?
Ya that’s what I mean publication, I actually mixed up the title and thumbnail form the original drop cause it had such low clicks lol, thanks for supporting the channel by the way means a lot!
hey frankly, good effort on the video. would you ever consider doing a video on the dying light franchise?
For sure o would! Doing fallout next but have Tyler decide what will be after that too
@@FranklyGaming sounds good dude. keep up the good work!
Dude this game is amazing literally went back on the ps5 and playing it
Prey needs a tv show
I just noticed this is mostly SkillUps gameplay footage from his video on the same DLC 🤔
My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't have put it any better.
I was abled to do so with Prey but not Mooncrash for some reason. )
The DLC was interesting and a bit tough.
*EDIT*
I know I got to the point where I could rescue a portion of them..
Thanks for leaving the comment and supporting the channel!
just terminating main game tomorrow, next is dlc ; if they make a prey 2 it would be great
@@ndebele100 that would be the dream
@@FranklyGaming i think there is a prey 2 under dev but it's pure speculation
@@ndebele100 ideally that is what arkane austin works on after redfall
Prey and Prey Mooncrash were the best games I ever played. And yes, it is the knowledge of mechanics which makes the player stronger not just the RPG elements. Also Deathloop is garbage.
Redfall is even worse. I love Prey, but the DLC is a big no for me. I don't like rogueware at all.
Thanks for the kind words and supporting the channel! And ya some things just don’t get the love they deserve I guess 🥲
I bought the dlc do u have to beat the Main campaign to start the dlc
Prey was one of the best games I've ever played. I hate Mooncrash tho. Tired of dying, must be doing something wrong
I totally agree. Might be the best game ever created.
One of the best game what ever created
I just finished Prey
I really enjoyed the game but for one thing...
By the time I got to Mooncrash I just had enough and couldn't be bothered
Watching your video has made me want to go back
Its not my favorite game but i can say its brilliant
Do you like Dishonored?
Ya love the dishonored games, got into them after prey, I think prey is better but dishonored is a little more fast paced and fun too
lol, I just love borderlands and dota too, feel like we like the same games xd
Unfortunately, ost people these days just want to get together with their friends and fight some enemies, then watch a pre scripted cut scene. Nobody wants to think or make choices. Personally, I want to make my own story, based on my planning, not my reaction time.
Wish you tried selling people on it *_before_* spoiling a few things meant to be discovered on one's own
Agree. amazinggggg
Just not everyone gets what they deserve as you said
soooo great.
Thanks for watching!
Hello and excuse me, can I translate this video into Chinese(21% has done) and transport it to bilibili(a Chinese video website)? I will sign your name and the addresses in the introduction and I won't get any income from this transport. I love this game and want more Chinese people to know it. If you allow me to do this I will be thankful : )
Sure I would appreciate that! If it does well maybe we could talk about payment and transferring others! Feel free to try on this one
Thanks, I will try my best to translate it @FranklyGaming
Prey was the bomb 💣
superb video me
Thanks me
I tried this game so many times just don't like it
Ya I totally get that I didn’t like it at first either haha, thanks for supporting the channel by the way!
I liked the new prey but it doesn’t top the original. I’m still bitter about not getting a true sequel to human heads Prey.
Отличное видео, эта игра шедевр
Maybe throw out a spoiler warning when you list all the secrets in the dlc lol..........
Stopped the video after stating Cyberpunk and ME3 were favorites of all time.
Ya I get that everyone has different tastes! Thank you for watching!
100% agree
