  • Another episode of "Analysis in Wonderland!" This time, we leave the world of the screen entirely and take a peek at the world of the stage with the Broadway Production of Frank Wildhorn's ill-fated musical "Wonderland."
It's going to be a while till I get the next episode ready; I'm hoping to have it ready by Halloween, but I cannot promise that. I can tell you all that the next episode will once again involve video games...but don't worry, after that, we'll be back to Movies/TV for at least a little while. ;)

Hi JJ! I’m so honored to be in the top 6! When we started in Tampa, Morris wasn’t part of the show. The roll was written into the show specifically for me (who was playing a Wonderland guard in all the earlier versions of the show-trimming hedges with HUGE scissors) we had so much fun and I’m glad it shows. Thanks again for the love!

It is of greater honor to know you watched and approved of the video! :D I actually knew that fact; you mentioned it an interview, which I saw some years back. Unfortunately the videos for those interviews no longer seem to be available. It was a shame because there were some interesting comments you all made about your roles and the play, especially from the perspective of a young actor.
Your March Hare is one of my favorite interpretations of all time, as well as one of my favorite parts of this specific show. I'm glad that you were able to have the opportunity to help this show come to life through all its iterations up to Broadway, and it does, indeed, show that you all were having a blast bringing this play to life. I consider it a tragedy that the play didn't last longer, because the hard work all of you put into the piece honestly deserved and still deserves so much more appreciation.
Thank you for your comment! I have to be honest and say it was...incredibly hard not to gush like a stereotypical fanboy when I read it. I hope I have not embarrassed you in any way. ^^'

@@hzurdny I had a feeling you would like that reference. Perhaps it is now my turn to take a bow, thank you. All in all, I (like the fellow in the video above) also enjoyed your performance.
With that said, I have a question for you. Have you ever considered doing voice work? You see I make Stop Motion Animated films on my channel.

After seeing your performance, I would be more then happy to work with an actor of your talent. If you would like to consider it, just let me know.

I was so nervous to watch this because I adore this musical, but I absolutely agree with your conclusions - I've kept the soundtrack on high repeat for years, but never been able to finish the bootleg since it can't compete with the musical I have in my head. Shindle's Hatter especially is an absolute treasure!

I absolutely ADORE this show, I used to have both cast albums (the original touring production and Broadway production. The original touring production had basically been completely lost from all streaming and online music so I no longer have it….) but I have always said if the show had a better book it would’ve been a complete hit. I know for a fact Dacal, Shindle and Mason would’ve all gotten Tony nominations (and depending on what category they put Shindle and Mason in I could see Shindle winning for lead and Mason for featured) I still watch the Broadway bootleg all the time, even though second act is a CHORE to get through. There are clips of the original touring production with Nikki Snelson and I pray that somebody has a video of that version somewhere because it’s so different (and personally I think better) from the music, the costumes, the book, and even different characters. I NEED to see the full Tampa/Houston version.

um...would like to point out, in I will prevail, the staged version, the hatter does command morris to lock alice's daughter in the tallest tower, so she's imprisoned, though its in looking glass land so dungeon and tallest tower are basically synonymous

Here's to the recognition of the need of a good script and solid story. Still would love to see this Hatter in action!

i am so happy to find some one like you who loves wonderland and anylise it's other appearences in such detailed care. i can't wait for you to talk about more of these adabtations and even maybe more of the batman rouges them themselves.
for something more related to this video: have you heard of the australian ballet version of Alice in wonderland made by Christopher Wheeldon? i've heard about it's fun details and plan to watch it live one day but i don't know if the ballet is interesting. just a recomendation and hope you have a good time

The Australian Ballet production is actually based on a production by the Royal Ballet in England. Same score, same costume/set design, a lot of similar choreography, etc. About all that's different are the performers and location. I have not seen the Australian production, BUT there is a recording of the Royal Ballet's debut production that I HAVE seen, and I actually plan to review that version in the future. Not exactly sure when, but it's on the list.
