no matter how many times i've seen this performance marks playing still gives me goosebumps.
Just raw talent. No computerized nonsense, no autotune, no studio wizardry...just a bunch of dudes rocking and jamming...
My favorite thing about this performance is that it feels like they're just jamming out and having fun... yet the music is so intricate and amazing at the same time.
If you go back and watch the "cues" Mark gives to tbe drummer for changes in the song... that's a testament to how great and well put together these guys were as a band.

@@djt8518 Yeah, I've watched this performance many times over the past 25-30 years. The song here is played much more quickly than usual and has slightly different parts to it. I love seeing the band members interacting with each other throughout.

it takes an incredible amount of stamina for a drummer to get through a song like this.

Mark knoppler is more than great. He sings & plays like no other. He is also still rockin. IN THE WEST one of my very favorite songs ❤❤. He was rated one of the 10 best guitar 🎸 players of my generation. ❤I’m sure if I look it up he still is ✌🏼❤️🔥💥💥

This was a legendary performance and I was privileged to be at the Birmingham leg of this tour. But as you lust over these musicians remember this was 40 years ago.

I'm so glad you're on the journey. When you asked are all guitarist hot? Now you see why we all fell in love with EVERY band member. I was raised by a musician & I learned real quick musicians are just hot which is why I went into playing music early on also! 😂 Grandma didn’t raise no fool. People you would never think are attractive on the street picks up a microphone, set of drum sticks, or any instrument & we dropping drawers. FYI musicians have fast hands 😉

It's pronounced Al kemy. It's the old name for science, when they still believed in magic. The old alchemists did some weird things, like trying to turn iron into gold, and guessing how many angels could balance on a pinhead! But eventually they started to discover really useful stuff. But I think Mark Knopfler, in the red jacket, really did produce golden sounds. I found your southern accent difficult to understand sometimes, but you would probably struggle with my Yorkshire, Northern English accent. Where Mark comes from, Newcastle upon Tyne, nearer the Scottish Borders, is a really difficult accent, when it's spoken properly.
