I've seen a lot of great sports in my lifetime. But, wstching MJ's career in in real time as it happened was by far the most special. Even a great highlight reel doesn't do his skills justice.
I know, there is just something about watching someone who is just simply the best at what they do, and I'm not a basketball fan, but watching him play was magical!
Getting to watch both Jordan and Kobe’s full careers start to finish, almost exclusively with the same team, , and having Lakers season tickets during a few championships, was quite a privilege. There is nothing quite like 80s and 90s and early 00s NBA.
For sure this highlight reel was great but watching his gams in the day where magic
It was like watching Leonardo Da Vinci paint the Mona Lisa or Michelangelo sculpt David
Facts
The #1 play was so special because that shot was the very last shot he ever took in a Bulls uniform and to go back to back to back to cap off his 6 rings. Forever GOAT of the sport that we call Basketball 🐐
It was the last game and Pippen is having back spasms having MJ shouldered extra effort’s on defense and offense and most team mates are having bad days, thats why the game is tight scores.
The defensive play before that made the shot even more special
It's all about context. Especially if your watched that game and the whole series live. Only other play that could tie it would be "the shot".
@@mannyneva1760 MJ made 1st team all defense what 8,9,10 times? Just guessing on that.
@@tomh5006 9 and retired twice in his prime…MJ could be sitting at 14-5 easy. People don’t get what those retirements did to his career statistically even though he didn’t give a 💩 about stats…MJ would be the all time leader in total points and total steals. Think about. It
I watched MJ's career from home in Chicago. No other player in NBA history, (IMO), had the amalgamation of pure skill, work ethic, drive, motivation, creativity, charisma, focus, and killer instinct, that MJeff possessed.
He didn't play 20 years. But his peak surpasses all others with ease.
MJ is, and always will be, The G.O.A.T.
Periodt.
Just sent me to the dictionary to look up a new (to me) word. Thx!
I went to see Michael twice in two home games in Chicago. His athleticism, his quickness, his court vision and killer instinct was unbelievable. He is truly the G.O.A.T.
I love older NBA. If they played in today's NBA, the 90s Knicks would have fouled out in pre-game warmups. The 80s Pistons would in prison for attempted murder.
💯🤣
IDK I think Mugsy would have gotten 3-5x as many steals nowadays (as tall as the rest of the league is now.)
Hahaha! Facts.
🏀As big and strong as LBJ is, I honestly don't think he would have ran up the score in yesterday's NBA. All of that hand-checking, flying elbows in the paint, all of that focus on defense. Can you imagine LeBron surviving something even resembling the Pistons' "Jordan Rules"!
🏀MJ's solution to someone like LBJ would've been to smother him in defense. Interrupted his game/style of play. Made him so mindful of where MJ was at any given moment on the floor, he wouldn't be able to concentrate on his game.
🏀When LBJ's game is off his ego suffers (you've seen him deflate b4, especially in the Play-Offs) and the shit talking that MJ did; he would have been all up in LBJ's head. MJ's mental acuity was equally as badass as his game.
MJ+🏀=🐐
@@MrTommygunz420 Every player today would be scared to put the ball on the floor.
Jordan was a once-in-a-lifetime combination of freakishly naturally gifted and psychotically dedicated and hard-working. Either one of those traits alone would have made him a star in the NBA, but together they made him the GOAT. I don't begrudge anyone who says they like other players more, but Michael Jordan is the best ever, and it's not close.
The concept of GOAT in team sports is so silly, you can even been the best player ever but you play with other 4 people, if they are bad you don't win and you're not the GOAT
@HiveRobot lmaoo
Exactly.
This is the real answer.
1v1 wilt vs mj who you taking? Just saying. Admittedly biased but Wilt should def be mentioned as one of the goats. Hes the goat imo. In todays soft ass nba he would average 70
I'm 52 years old, and I remember watching him play in college and then in the NBA. I can honestly say, there was not a single week that went by when he was playing (season and playoffs) that he was not on ESPN Sports Center highlights. And there was more than 1 or 2 weeks where he was on it every single night. I saw the other 4 starters on his team get down and feel like they were losing the game and he literally said 'I'm not losing this game.' and he single-handedly willed the team to win. He took over the entire game. More than once. THAT's why he's rated higher than Lebron and Kobe on the all-time list....he did it game after game and season after season, with or without help... AND, if you want to hear about how he shutdown opponents, WHILE torching them, look up the RUclips video where Kevin Garnett talks about the time he was a rookie and decided to trash-talk MJ.... didn't turn out well...
Sorry for the late reply. MJ was a freak of nature and dominated his sport. The only comparison would maybe be Tiger Woods' dominance in the PGA during his prime. I still remember them calling Tiger the Jordan of Golf.
As a Jazz fan MJ broke my heart twice but there is no doubt that he is the 🐐. Back then there was no flopping like LeBron, they were physical and tough. They didn't let injuries stop them or use as an excuse. I miss this old NBA.
As someone who is old enough to have watched a lot of Jordan, Kobe, and Lebron. Jordan was the best of three by far.
Larry Bird is better than all those except Jordan.
by FAR
By far .and it's not even close..
Lebron ain't no dunk contest. I rest my case.
agree peak Jordan is by far better then Lebron and Kobe, but when talking Goat i dont think you can just look at peak. When Lebron is done then its time to look at it if we can put him ahead of Jordan.
Highlights dont even do him justice, as a knicks fan watching him drop 40+ on us legit every single game for 15 years lol
@HiveRobot i mean you guys got to feel the pain too. guy dropped 63 on you in the playoffs lol And once bird was gone not like you beat him either
@HiveRobot does hurt though w/o jordan knicks prob win a few of those championships :( lol
i remember where i was when he came back to score 55 at MSG. "could not be stopped only contained"
That is what a lot of these young people don't realize. He did this every night. His whole career was a highlight film.
Some of his best games came in the Gardens. He always said there was something about the place... and Ewing. Another great he denied a ring.
I'm so glad I grew up with 80s and 90s NBA!! The level of talent was ridiculous! 🥰🥰
Just think, it was everything in the 90's sports, music, movies were a better
@@acarter9036 the energy everything was fantastic.
I remember the Dream Team: Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman. What a time to be alive!
Lebron has personally assembled multiple big threes on multiple teams even, all better than MJ, Pippen, Rodman….yet he still loses more than he wins and can’t come close to Jordan. Lol MJ is the ultimate goat it will never change.
Jordan is definitely the goat....he actually played defense too
Truth! Many don’t realize his defensive game was just as incredible as his offensive game. 9 All-Defensive 1st Team Selections, Defensive POY, 3x’s steals leader, I could go on….
That always seems to be something people forget. He wasn't just a flashy offensive player, he was great on defense as well! And that helps solidify his GOAT status for me but I never needed any convincing anyway ;p
and thats why they would wipe the floor with the Warriors dynasty and any dynasty from here on.
The first guard ever to win DPOY...
Yeah, 10 time scoring champ while being 9 time all-defense first team. Jordan practically locked up the entire league for a decade. On both ends. Best offensive AND defensive player. Who does that?
I grew up in that era, Mike made Basketball Great. This new generation has caused me never to watch another game.
💯 Haven’t watched in a few years!! 🇺🇸
I feel it, I grew up during MJs era too used to beat my Knicks like they owed him money. I haven't watched the NBA for 2 years now. 😕
Agree. I stopped watching basketball when MJ retired from the Bulls (the second… and final… time).
I stopped watching a lot of games when Lebron started being a player GM & controlling a narrative by teaming up with other superstars so he could win a ring. Think about it. Lebron couldn't win his first stint in Cleveland or his 1st year in LA. He needed 2 other superstars in Miami & his return to Cleveland, won with AD, but when AD is injured he can't win so they went & grabbed someone who only cares about stats in Westbrook.
I think bird and Johnson made it great Jordan kept it great after those guys retired
THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGENDARY, THE ONE AND ONLY MICHAEL JORDAN!!
"I ain't seen a three pointer yet..."
☝🏽That's right, young brotha...because Jordan was all about torching cats with that midrange or going to the hole and yamming on em. You saw it lol. His layup game was lethal as well. He'd shoot a three if he had to. But why do that when they can't stop what he's already doing?
And this was all with teams beating him up practically every night. He was that dude. Period.
Kobe was great, but Michael Jordan is THE Goat. Never be another MJ. I'm so happy to have lived during a time, when there was Michael Jordan. I get chills just thinking about it.
Michael will always be the GOAT
Taught him everything about ball ljs
"I haven't seen a three pointer yet!" (my inner nine year, remembering Game One of the 1992 Finals = just wait.)
I was thinking the same thing! My mom recorded that game on VHS and we watched it many times. I screamed so much I lost my voice for two days. Awesome highlight!
I remember that game vividly lol
I was in Eastern Idaho visiting family who were Utah Jazz fans and Portland Trail Blazers fan, I was a Lakers fan first but was a Bulls fan during the 90's.
Needless to say, members of my family weren't fans of Jordan after that game lol.
Jordan was beyond good at every aspect of the game. He was a full team in and of himself, and ironically was one hell of a team player
MJ will ALWAYS be the Greatest. I miss that guy. When you watched him live it was like watching Superman. He was a unbelievable athlete.
300 years from now, he will still be talked about and studied
I don't even like basket ball but I never missed a Bulls game when MJ was on the court. So many times it was super human acts of athleticism that make you like GTFO!
@@neworld2114 Love Burr's sarcasm.
@@fishinglunkies3629 The only other athlete that could do whatever he wants in his prime was Muhammad Ali. He was Super human in the ring incredible reflects and tremendous speed. You couldn't hit the guy clean!
@@msw8966 Tiger was in the same category...
Everyone who ever says "LeBron is the GOAT!" ... They're not quite sure what "defense" is.
MJ was one of the all-time great defensive players, as well.
You are so correct!! I was in the stands many times. Each game was a classic because Michael would always do something spectacular. He was a basketball angel floating in the air for our delight.
Jordan was no slouch in the 3 point shot department having entered the contest during all star weekend. But the bulls of the Jordan era were so well assembled with excellent role players that Jordan didn't need to take 3's regularly. He always drew a double or triple team which opened up other players. Hodges, Paxson, and Kerr were all excellent 3 point shooters.
Aside from that, these plays/highlights are mostly about athleticism, which is truly showcased when he would take it inside.
That all started when the Bulls traded Brad Sellers to the Seattle SuperSonics for the rights to an unknown rookie named Scottie Pippen. Then the Charles Oakley trade to New York for Bill Cartwright which resulted in players like BJ Armstrong, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant to become key members to the first 3peat.
Thing about Jordan is that his hang time was "longer" because he could adjust after other players were headed back down and make a shot that others wouldn't event try.
Physical? Yeah, the 80's and 90's were rough. The pistons of the early 90's were hardcore. I'm still trying to picture Scottie Pippen's dunk on Patrick Ewing nowadays happening without anyone getting ejected.
90s Pistons = 70s Flyers :) Savages for sure but hella fun to watch too, no matter the sport.
How about the Kevin McHale clothesline on Kurt Ramis?
Agree 1000%!!!!!
Scottie still feels the shots he took from Rodman but it was sweeter when the Bulls swept them.
@@devonstokes7150 Or when Robert Parish slapped the taste out of Bill Laimbeer and just got a loose ball foul?
Thank you Leo for showing this because I have a big ole smile on my face. As a little girl, Larry Bird is the reason I got interested in basketball & learned the game. Then Michael came along when I was a teen & OMG I was freaking glued to the TV! He's definitely, definitely, definitely the GOAT! ❤🏀❤🏀❤🏀
There is a reason Kobe was so great he modeled himself after his hero the Goat.
Also LBJ doesn't Dont do he dunk contest cause he knows its just another area were he loses to Jordan. LBJ is a Brick by comparison
You have people in the league who have mastered the art of fancy dunks. I don’t think Jordan would win today either. Maybe, he certainly is more creative than Lebron, but dunk contests are far more competitive today even though the league itself is probably less competitive.
@@futurereflections4097 more competitive 😅😅😅😅
And it's basic dunks and idk Jordan seemed to do things in the moment on players as if he practiced how he was gonna dunk on you..
They kind of change the rules for Kobe to grow though! He couldn’t really handle hand checking and was throwing up air balls.
MJ was an absolute pleasure & privilege to witness. I am sad my son could not see in real time, but I will share my films from my library. Every game you had to watch of his because we just knew something special would happen & nobody wanted to miss. From Texas & was so happy to have WGN cover them. What a joy he was & basketball in general in those days.
I am so glad I grew up watching basketball in the 90s..especially growing up in Chicago. The game has definitely changed... But nothing will ever compare to this era. #MJ is the real #GOAT
I feel like the world was rooting for the bulls back then
@@neworld2114 just watching highlights bring up certain feelings towards the game.. I've never really felt the same thrill until D. Rose & the Bench Mob..I'm Chicago thru & thru lol. But now, I'm just not impressed with the game today.
@@adrie22 same here- same as music and art
My favorite was Game 5 of the NBA finals against Utah Jazz. He was so sick he could barely stand. Against advisement he played with a temperature of 103 yet scored 38 points. Sadly, I believe his Dad had just been murdered as well & you could see how hard it weighed on him. There was several times he would croutch down and rest his body with his hand in the floor then pop up ready to go when the play started. I've never, ever seen such dedication & determination. Incredible game!
they won that ring on Fathers Day and MJ cried like the first ring which was the ring the punks stole when they killed his dad.
He played sick in 1997.
His dad was murdered in 1993.
He won 4th ring on fathers day in 1996.
M.J. Simply the goat. Keep Kobe in your heart, he tried to be like Mike, and he was a great player.
After the first 3peat when he won in 1993 his dad was murdered, and in respect to how much his dad loved baseball, Jordan retired and played baseball. Jordan did not come back until real late in the season in 1995 and then lost to the Magic. But, then he won his 4th ring against the Sonics in 1996 on Father's Day! And of course the flu game in 97' and beat the Jazz, and beat the Jazz again for his 6th ring in 1998.
The thing you also gotta remember is that it was A LOT more physical back then. He was a battle warrior , an iron horse ! Aside from style , and being ahead of his time , this is what also makes him the greatest NBA player of all time , the adversity he had to overcome with that kind of competition. His competition was heavy and his generation was the greatest generation in NBA History ! It was great watching him play. Bless !
I love the way he looks at the crowd against Cleveland in 93 after the winning shot. Bow down to the King!!!!
Yes Michael has always been the GOAT
This was when watching basketball was fun and watching him was ELECTRIFYING!!! HE IS THE G.O.A.T PERIOD. This highlight reel isn't even 1% of the incredible unexplainable magic he created on the court. You should really watch his series on Netflix. You'll see on there that the "Flu" game he played, it is speculated that the fans of the other team gave him food poisoning so that their team could win the game/championship...did it work....NOPE!!
“I ain’t seen no 3s.” Just you wait for 1992 Finals, Game 1. I almost have tears in my eyes watching this… you need to go and look at the stories and context behind some of these plays. For instance, #1 was the game winner for his 6th and final title with the Bulls. At the time, we all thought that would be his final basket as a basketball player. It was a perfect end to a legendary career.
Man watching Michael as a kid was something else, he was doing things people had never imagined were possible every single game.
Being from Chicago MJ was my first hero!! I met him twice, once at the airport and once at the casino, lol. Bulls games were like church, everybody in the city all worshiping together!!!
THE GOAT 🐐 ✌️💗😊
The number 1 play is that high because it was his last shot as a Chicago bull. That shot was his show ender, the perfect conclusion for his career, until he unretired and played for the wizards, but the shot was legendary nonetheless.
That shot
Put the Bulls up by 1 and won the 6th trophy game winner
I still have the local paper of that shot on the front cover.
watching this man play basketball was like watching a painter create a masterpiece, or a composer writing his magnum opus. it was art in the form of basketball.
Hero’s get remembered, but legends never die! MJ will always be our GOAT
You should do the Michael Jordan documentary series "The Last Dance."
The reason that was #1 was because it was a shot for the 6th title in a row, game 7. Just the clutch factor.
Game 6. Jordan never went to a game 7 in the finals
@@mrdozo23 And wasn't 6 in a row. 6 over 8yrs with a "retirement"🤨break in between. The man lost one of the most important human beings in his life ...his dad.👨👦 And he was murdered no less. As great as he was, he was still one of us ...human. And that's more than enough for me.

I got to watch his games when he played with the Tarheels!! My father got seats due to him being a alumni! Dean Smith knew he would go far! Great games! He got better and better! My opinion, the greatest basketball player hands down!!
They told him he couldn't hit 3s, so he set an NBA Finals record for 3-pointers in a half!!
Larry Bird about Michael Jordan after a game in the 80s:
"It’s just God disguised as Michael Jordan".

Michael was such an icon back than that he made basketball so cool all by himself.
I remember that when I was a boy(I'm 33 now) - I Joined basketball practices and I bought his Bulls shirt and a ball with his "Air Jordan" symbol on it and I'm pretty much sure that I'm not the only one who did it.
Having grown up in the 80's/90's watching MJ was incredible. EVERYONE wanted to be like Mike! And contrary to belief, not Everyone was Kung-Fu fighting.
As someone who grew up in the Jordan era, if someone was as good now as Jordan was then... Then everyone and their grandma would be watching him play. They'd be wearing his shoes, drinking his drink, and wearing his clothes. The guy wasn't just the GOAT. He was a phenomenon. So if someone comes along who is better than he was, we're all going to know it. MJ will always be the Greatest of All Time tho. You can have new Greats, but he was the first. Legend.

The greatest of all time Michael Jeffery Jordan
I see why he (Michael) played with the Wizards at the end of his career, he was just a wizard with that basketball!
The number 1 play won the NBA finals and was his last shot ever playing for the Bulls. He retired afterwards and went to be the VP of b-ball operations for the Wizards only to come out of retirement to help sell seats for the organization. Check out his mixtape 🔥
Im a Spurs fan and I miss the old days so much, i looked forward to watching them play and dominate every night or compete against great teams with Tim Duncan, Manu, and Tony Parker. Now, i still get excited to watch but it just isnt nearly the same anymore :/

I wanna see you react to MJ, especially as a Kobe fan, but I moreso just want to watch this video of MJ doing absolute magic on the basketball court. He was one of a kind. The GOAT. Hands down.
' I don't see many three pointers ' , well exactly !, and that right there is how the #NBA has changed, now it's too many threes. Jordan considered it more of a challenge to attack the rim or use his amazing footwork with the mid range shot at which he was a master of.
This is what you get when the athletes take pride in themselves and their sport. They were focused on the game and not on anything else.
No politics, just game
MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE GOAT!!! 🔥🏀
The flu game. He was in the hospital, taking fluids, couldn't hold down water, and came to the arena for the game.
He scored 38 points.
Prime Jordan right now would rule the NBA, more so than his reign then.
Bro Kobe was a beast too! Definitely makes sense to be anyone's favorite player. He worked hard to become a basketball legend. To me, Mike is the GOAT and my favorite player. I'm from Chicago so it's always nice to refer to the GOAT as the one who made Chicago a team of nightmares for other cities😂
Jordan is the goat. Kobe was a copy. Kobe was great but a copy is never as clean as the original.
That is very well said! Kobe's FG % 45 to Jordan's 50 and if we are all being honest MJ was just a more animal defender than Kobe, and more consistent on defense overall!
glad to see you react to the greatest basketball player of all time
Watching MJ was amazing, you were glued to the game, waiting for him to do something crazy. You're right with that comment "MJ is a cheat code!"
There’s a reason people argue passionately about Jordan being the goat. And it’s cuz he is
It was the #1 play because it was his final shot in the league for many years. his final shot for the bulls. in the finals. for the win.
You couldn’t go anywhere in the 80s without seeing Tar Heels merch everywhere.

the greatest player statistically was Wilt Chamberlain, nobody has even come close to the numbers he put up & I'm glad I am old enough to have seen him play! As much as I like Jordan, one on one he wouldnt stand a chance against Wilt the Stilt! Chamberlain is the GOAT!
Debatable. Jordan did one thing Wilt, Kareem, Magic & Bird couldn't do & that's boost the popularity of basketball around the entire world. Stats aren't everything; if they were, Bill Russel is the greatest because he has 11 rings in a 13-year career.

That number 2 is one of my favorite Jordan highlights in the finals ever. Wasn't Bulls fan but jumped out if my chair after that move. Watched all those finals back in the day!
Glad you got to watch the best of MJ Leo! I was fortunate enough to see him in Dallas against the Mavericks in 1998 which was highlight to remember, as he was retiring that year and it was sold out, so had to pay the scalpers, but was worth it!
Part of what makes Jordan different is his hand size. He has something like the 8th largest hands in NBA history. Larger than most centers. He's 6'6" and his hand size is equal to that of a man that would stand 7'9".
Thank you Leo I appreciate you doing this I know you didn’t do this just for me but I appreciate it and I just want to say , I told you so LOL he’s the 🐐 buddy!!! ✌🏼my man..
BTW I was lucky enough to see a every championships season and every game!! #Mj
I hear He was born with the talent. He may have been, but He worked His ass off to become a LEGEND.
Great Reaction.
I hardly ever missed a Michael game🥰 He was fine and such an amazing athlete!!!
I clicked on this so fast!! Dying to see if it shows you that slam dunk contest back when he was at NC. Dominick Wilkins, up in the stands, was trippin on Michael. His shock put his chin on his chest😲😆 Spud was there too. God I miss those days
No one has ever been as exciting to watch play as MJ. For all of his offense he was a hell of a defensive player, he just hustled the whole game.
I watched this because I watched your Larry Byrd video. I have never been a big sports fan, but I remember, back in the day, hearing my dad talk about how good Byrd was. What is funny and interesting is that one of the things I remember him saying about him is that he would shoot more 3 pointers, while a lot of other players were dunking all the time. So, that's really funny that you made the comment about how much players today just shoot threes all the time.
I lived in Illinois back in 1987. It was fun watching MJ from the early days. Once Pippen got there everything changed. Boy MJ sure could play. That fade away shot was deadly. He sealed the fate of many a good team with that shot. His dunking was great, but that fade away put fear into you.
