Another Shameless EverDrive Clone? The ED64PRO

  • In today’s episode of “Does it suck?” I’m checking out the ED64 Pro. And no, not the ED64 Plus which is all I could find reference to while researching. This one has a flashing LED! This is an N64 flash cartridge that appears to play everything at full speed and supports saving, although only to the micro-SD card if the game uses SRAM. This may all sound great but unfortunately, it’s an EverDrive clone.

    It doesn't sucks, what sucks is krikkz charging an arm and a leg for something that can be sold for less.
    Ill stick to the chinese clones.

    I've had this flashcart for well over 2 years and it has never given me any issues with saves or such

      Same, I've had no issues at all with mine. The only time I noticed a problem was with the sd card it came with. Once I copied everything to a quality sd card it has been flawless.

    if the original wasnt so damn expensive id buy it. heck the new switch flash cart is somewhere between 60 or $70. compared to $150 for the everdrive x7 which youll need to buy an sd card then format and install firmware. 60 buck comes with all games its not perfect but works great good enough for some rom hacks and cheap . edit everdrive is $159.00

    to change the wallpaper: if you go to the wallpaper folder and hold down the bottom c button for 4 seconds it lets you change that picture to the backround.

    All I get are the Chinese flash cards. Was always hard to get everdrives etc in Australia. If you just want to play games they are fine, it’s more advanced features on some of the everdrives that make them worth the money. Also for years they would hardly produce these in large numbers and you had to sign up for wait lists or join their patreon and contribute to get one earlier. For 90% of people this wasn’t an option.

    Emulate? Why wouldn’t it run on original hardware?
    What’s the difference between pro and plus? That should be the main question as this is the first time seeing the pro
    Thanks for the video

    So it works fine and offers basically the same features for a fraction of the price?
    Sounds good to me, I will probably pick one up.
    You're pirating hundreds of Nintendo games through it and going to talk about the morality of someones designs being re-used.
    Don't pretend you just use these to only play your backups.

    "n64 is notoriously difficult to emulate"
    its kinda amazing how soon that will be a thing of the past.
    the n64 MiSTer core is already in a shockingly advanced stage of development, already playing some games indistinguishablly from original hardware (or even better tbh, as it does hdmi and rgb/ypbpr already)

    • @retrogameon

  • @somehow_not_helpfulATcrap
    @somehow_not_helpfulATcrap 9 месяцев назад

    Kritzz team implemented a security feature in their Everdrive software. If you try to use their software on these clones it can brick the clone permanently unless you are capable of rewriting the flash memory on the cart itself.
    Thats why these clones will never really change.

    I have the ED64+ and never had any troubles with it. Even pokemon stadium 2 runs with it, it's not the case of the "real" everdrive..... so why talking of clones? and saying it sucks ? They may have reverse engineered the real one but it's better....for less $ (for N64, not talking about some emulators GB, etc... that may be included in the real one.)

    • @Straatbrak
      @Straatbrak 4 месяца назад

      Can you take the memory card out, attach to pc and modify the save for stadium 2. Looking to your answer i will then buy the same.

      Because something being stolen to be cheaper is lame when the creator is still producing the product. Krikkz supports the community. These other companies just steal his stuff and run off peddling it to people who don’t appreciate his work. Do you know the power consumption of these carts? Can they fry certain modded or OEM systems?

  • @RAPTOR948

      @@TheNintendochannel64 Yeah but I'm looking for a N64 flash cart that is going to last me. A cart where I can put my entire N64 library onto the cart and not have to worry about pulling it out again.
      So many games I have I wish I could have gotten the revision copies of, but can't because of the fact some of the companies like THQ are out of business and likely no longer have the ROM files for the revisions anymore.
