  • Here is a video of a Wisconsin V465D1 engine I repaired back in about 2008, I have done a lot of complete overhauls to these engines since 1984, all of them were fitted to pavement / floor / concrete saws, this is one of a few vids I have, the others are not as good as this. these engines were commonly fitted to saws untill about 2000 but then the trend went to diesel. They were a great engine for a saw in my opinion because of the shape being comparatively short in length unlike the modern diesels, I would like to see a V4 diesel of about 70 hp fitted to a floor saw, maybe Wisconsin Motors should designe one. Hope you like my video.

Just curious how difficult is to work on those? There’s one in the junk pile where I work that isn’t running and I don’t know whether it is worth the effort to lug the thing into my truck, cause they are like 530 pounds.

Rebuilding Wisconsin's since 1984? Just the guy I need to talk to! LOL! I have a Ditch Witch R-65 trencher (V465D gas engine.) It ran fine until I started battling Prostate Cancer, and it ended up sitting for two years. Due to that sitting, the engine is now seized. I have tried everything in the way of lubricants to loosen up the pistons, but to no avail. Do you have some good advice for an ol' man of 75 yrs old? Do you think I could free up the pistons without pulling the engine? Heads on top and pan on the bottom? At the moment, I can't even figure out how to break the coupling that connects the front end to a backhoe! PLEASE! Le'me have it!! LOL! And thank you!

I wonder if they ever tried using these instead of the Atomic 4 for sailboats? I bet it would be a better all around motor for that application. Are these as dependable as the old Atomic 4s?

Chuck O Hi Chuck, sorry for the massive delay in answering you, because i couldnt access any comments since posting this video about 2 years ago i couldnt make any replies to anyone, sorry shipmate. So my only answer to you is, i dont know what an Atomic 4 engine is, or size of it, but i wouldnt think its a good idea for a sailboat using this type of engine, its quite a big engine, and look at the exhaust manifold, i dont mind a challenge but wouldnt fancy making a heat exchanger / cooler for that manifold, but thanks for your interest and comment.

Hi Nate, yeh they were a Great engine for fitting to Concrete saws and were the most prefered engine for that application, my only experience of Wisconsin engines was all to do with Concrete saws, thats my game, thanks for your interest dude.
