A conversation I was not expecting. But a conversation I needed to hear. As a white Woman, it didn’t click right away, but when you mentioned reading the Bible from a woman’s perspective, The light came on. Cuz it’s amazing looking at the Bible from a woman’s perspective. I’ve also started looking at it from a Jewish standpoint to help me understand scripture better, Even though I’m not Jewish. But if I’m honest, there are a lot more black people surrounding me today than Jews. And I need to read from their perspective too, cuz 1. It’s going to enlighten God even more 2. This is meeting them where we are at and diversity won’t actually happen until we come together and see how God has touched their lives in a way that I will probably never completely understand, but I can see the beauty and rejoice along with them because God is so Good to us ALL!
I feel similarly, but I’m black lol. Conversation I didn’t know I needed to hear!
I am studying Hebrews through Ariel college. I wanted to get a messianic Jewish perspective. I too am a white woman who has no idea what it is like to be discriminated against.
Just started listening to this so don’t have input yet on the discussion…but am SO looking forward to it. 👆🏼

Scripture is an ancient Near East Hebraic text, it must be understood and interpreted in light of that fact and seen firstly through that lens for a person to even begin to understand the narrative and it’s implications and grasp all the typology and threads correctly. Then the application to particular groups or cultures will stand on a firm foundation.
Example:
Social Justice movement. If you are a follower of Yeshua then you don’t need an adjective in front of the word justice. You are simply called to be just in all your relationships and dealings. Why? because the chosen people (The Jews) are commanded by God in the Torah to be just and shown how. So forming a new ideology around justice (SJW) is irrelevant and redundant.

THAT part. Epigenetics is a thing. Just as black folks deal with the aftershock of enslavement, white folks deal with the aftershock of enslaving. That shows up in MANY,many different ways including masked colonizing in religious and educational spaces🤷🏾♀️

It's hard to push the emotion and tears down. Many of these very topics are the reason I separated from a congregation that I cared deeply about but came in conflict with during the height of 2020's racial conflicts and protests. I've been unable to connect to a church since due to my own personal trauma and trust issues. This podcast was so validating and I'm grateful to the Holy Spirit. My heart is full to know God does care just like I thought He did. Please pray that God will heal my entire family and lead us to a place of worship and community. 🙏🏽

When Rev. Dr. McCaulley called out how we American White Christians respect distinct cultural white theologies but not American Black theology I realized I need to start reading more American Black Christian work and listening to more American Black Christian speakers because they have much to teach about the liberation found in Christ. Thank you for this interview!
Do you realize what he said is extremely ridiculous? You can't lump all of white christians into one group. He doesn't know what they read? He's based in that off of assumption.

Such an important conversation! And such truth. The nations (ethnicities) are represented throughout the Bible. White culture Christians seem to think "all nations" is just a cute phrase in the Bible.
I’m 5 mins in and I already know I gotta watch this twice. This is to good
AMEN! Christianity is intersectional, I’m a white hispanic/white passing? And growing up in a church in Coney Island, you could feel Gods love through the sharing of culture, American black people, Puerto Ricans black people, brown skinned Hondurans, white hispanics, etc etc. And it was never because we DIDNT share our cultural differences. Of course, sharing ethnicity helped to relate, but we also shared class, and most importantly, our passion for Christ. I related with a lot on this podcast, it was so easy to empathize, especially after moving from Brooklyn to a rural town in the south of VA. Now I *understand* why I, despite being white passing, felt so alienated from that church. They didn’t *know* any other ethnicities, or cultures, or how to contextualize the Bible, much less in a biblical way. This isn’t a Christian verse, but I’m beginning to understand, “never attribute malice to what could be explained as incompetence.” This podcast is gift from GOD. It is relevant to problems in the church right now, it speaks to many people. It is the crux of what biblical evangelism should be. Thank you, God bless your ministry.

I had been sitting in the pews as a born from above Jewish believer for 20 years.
A precious black pastor came into our life, my husband's and mine, and through our friendship, he and his wife contributed so much that only the black culture could. He was elderly when we met him and we had a close connection with him for 20 years. We came to understand and empathize and have compassion for and admiration for what they'd been through because of color.
He also helped me to realize that this thing we call Christianity is really Biblical Judaism as opposed to Rabbinical Judaism
I identified with this discussion with Dr Esau McCauley because, as a Jew, I'd been led to believe I was now a Gentile and had nothing to contribute.
When Brother Ben and sister Sylvia Mitchell came into my life, they honored my identity, as we also did theirs.
So if Dr. McCauley speaks again with you, I'd love for him to expound on the contributions he sees that are needful to the body of Messiah from the black culture.

These past couple of years i felt led to implement more culture into our library for our family to read. We had books by Ben Carson,on Fredrick Douglas, and Martin Luther King Jr. but i wanted us to expand even more. i've been grateful for biblical teachings of Thabiti Anyabwile and John Onwuchekwa as well as podcast such as this, Let's Talk, and Knowing Faith. Have read both of Jackie's books, gone through Jude (and now the teen study with our daughter) and Dahati Lewis' Among Wolves and Advocate. Jasmine Holmes' book Carved in Ebony for young readers arrived last week and i'm reading it before passing it along = ) It's exciting to hear Preston is working on one as well! Your discussions have been insightful. i hope it encourages you to know there are brothers and sisters in Christ who want to learn from you and see more clearly.

I know what I am going to say is going to be unpopular. I love being black. I have a black wife, with black kids, black parents, a black owned business and so on. But as i mature in my faith, I realized that my faith can't be in my suffering, gender, ethnicity etc... Not that those things are not important to me, but none of those things can save me. The only way for all regardless of color is through Jesus Christ, so ultimately I am going to follow Paul the Apostles lead who also suffered and place my Identity in Christ because that's where my salvation rests now and eternally. The only worry i have with this video is, Christianity or salvation can't be defined or relegated to a small segment of people. Christianity and salvation is for all people. We all fall short, we blacks are sinners too. We kill, we murder, we enslave, we lie, we cheat, we steal, we conquer, we kidnap, we belittle, we destroy, we burn, we mutilate, we have homosexuality, infidelity, all manner of sexual sin, witchcraft, we have suffered, we have caused suffering, we rape, we set ourselves above other people, we exhibit pride, we worship idles, we have fallen short of Gods standard. Just like every other man and woman who ever lived regardless of race or ethnicity with the exception of Jesus christ. We are not special, we can't save ourselves, we can't earn salvation, we deserve hell just like everyone else, we are not better than others, we are not worse than others, for we all fall short. None of us make to heaven expect through Jesus Christ. *Side note, I have been studying history a lot lately, and found that the horrible things that happened to slaves fro Africa in the Americas is not unique. The vikings enslaved and killed murdered other Europeans, the Khans other Chinese, African nations against African nations, there are millions of people who have been kidnapped and are forced to work as sex slaves even today . Millions of Africans have been killed by Africans, Millions of Europeans have been killed by Europeans, same with Chinese, middle Easterners, etcetera... The suffering our ancestors went through was unspeakable but not unique. Some of the Europeans and African countries warring against each other did not even bother to enslave, they just murdered millions of people not on the other side. Ultimately it is not a skin issue it is a sin issue.... hence why I believe each and everyone of us needs Jesus Christ.
Ditto everything you said. I have been redeeming my education in history as well and what I think is a lot of what they said can be summed up as framing the Bible from a position of trauma/victimization. My gender (woman) is not the same as blackness. Handling finances is not the same as my blackness. God created me as a woman, blackness was created by man and also distinctly in modern America.
Also, I reject the idea that I need to see someone that "looks like me" do whatever I aim to pursue. I don't remember that being a major thing in the 90s. I could watch the Cosby's, fresh prince of Bel air, and Clarissa explains it all, Sabrina the teenage witch, etc (pretty sure I'm showing my age) and it wasn't a big deal to me. Back then, we could relate to any of the characters that had similar circumstances as me regardless of their race.
THISSSSSSSSSSS THO ! 🙌🏽 They should have had YOU on as the guest because you spitting FACTS ! As a black woman I 100% AGREE! Our race won’t save us & God is NOT a respecter of MAN ! We gotta be very careful within this subject & constantly take heed to our spirit as to not sin against God while simultaneously pointing out the same sins of others.
I'm going to say it like this... its fine that's its a sin issue and that we "ALL SIN" and "WE ALL NEED JESUS" but for me (my opinion) it's like you leave compassion out of it and you just reduce it to "we all do it" "We not unique" i'm pretty sure that you won't approach a woman who got rape and say "your situation is not unique other people got rape"

The problem with non black Christian’s is that they do not want to admit the black body has been devalued … because we can’t agree on that we can’t move forward with true healing! 🤷🏾♀️
Do you have a bible verse to back that one? It sounds like you have a problem with forgiveness. The only way you could get true healing.Is through the gospel.

It makes sense that we have different redemptive stories… As the body of Christ we need to see this, black,yellow, white ect….listen to each others stories, read Dr Esau’s book! Thanks for doing this one its super important! I grew up in a multicultural setting I don’t understand where everyone is coming from,but I care! I believe i care about this because God has work for me to do .. to educate myself and others, pray and ask the Holy Spirit to empower me to speak up for all his people. Lets seek knowledge and understanding and have conversations about what we learn saints and Aints!

This topic is interesting in that blacks and Christianity is being discussed
I view my self as a Christian who is black my culture and traditions are not null and void because I Identify as a Christian first this notion is part of my liberty and freedom while in the earth it helps me to move fwd in life
I believe our character and imitating Christ is what gives many from all walks of life unity without losing heritage
I think God tells us to lay down traditions and keep his commands and imitate Christ That’s our new Identity
Instead people will say you’re different or you must be a believer instead of your black
Any way keep writing keep speaking keep sharing b/c God created you and he’s glorified in your gifts and he’s using the info to illuminate who he is and what he says a believer is since he created all nations

Loving this! We have to talk about the hurt before we heal. Alot of people don't want to do this b/c they are afraid. We have to put off fear in this nation so we can deal the hurt of racism so we can heal. No repentence, no justice, no peace, no healing. This is where we are. I hope we will choose repentence so we can heal.

I’ve just taken it for granted that THE Lord of ALL Justice will right every wrong and WILL handle with righteousness and honor EACH AND EVERY monstrosiy of wickedness “Black” people have had to endure here on earth. Not one “tiny” little misdeed has escaped His eye; not one “small” dishonoring, disparaging word has eluded His ear. He KNOWS what has gone on and it WILL be recompensed. We’re talking about THE Lord of Righteousness. There IS nothing unjust in Him. I know He will DO IT because this is His nature and He cannot be otherwise. Therefore, I don’t get caught up in fleeting conversation about man’s “opinions.” My focus is on THE Faithful One... THE One who will do it.
