What worked for me was asking my friend on the other side of the world to be a co-owner. When I go to sleep, over in America it’ll be like noon, so there is always someone who can be in charge of the server and staff team when it’s needed. Just make sure they have interest in the server just like you do, otherwise they’ll just become inactive or will do a terrible job.
I agree with the above comment. I have a moderator for my 15 player server and he is able to check on others while I sleep. My player base is spread across America so our timezones are not the same. It really helps to have a trusted mod that takes it as serious as you.
If you know how to administer Servers in a professional manner and you are a Cyber Security expert. Go ahead, elswise you will fail in agony. Hosting your own reliable Server is a massive Task, that requires deep knowledge of technology that requires years of expirence and a Lot of Money for Server costs, infrastructure and legal knowledge. I highly would Not reccomend doing that. Just Pay 5 Dollars a month and your good to Go for the next 1-2 years building your Server! Learn Linux is reccomended
how many minigames should a server have when the server starts? I am planning to make 5 or so including survival (I custom coded plugin myself), are there any advice?
Usually my biggest advice is start off with 2. Focus on growing a community and a playerbase with those 2, and once you know you're ready to introduce something new, you can keep adding gamemodes. Unless you're investing a lot of money on advertisements off the bat, it's hard to grow a bunch of gamemodes all at once with a community that's not developed yet.
