    My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
    I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.

    You could try some thermal curtains for your windows. They make a noticeable difference for me. The windows in my apartment are probably pretty cheap though so probably anything would make a difference.

      Hi +PeepBunnies
      The pictures really showed me a lot of places where i can improve on heating. I fund another one yesterday,, an outlet where there is coming out could air. It is an outlet on the door to the wintergarden,, and there is an outlet/power outlet on the other side as well. I insulated very well all around it but did not put anything between them inside the wall. I need to do that :-)
      Thank you for watching! :-)

    Very bad resolutions. Not even using the outdated 720p.
    Will not show thru basic wall around many homes.
    So it CAN NOT see hot water pipes or electrical lines in back of walls.

    Corners and edges are often cold because that's where structural elements from walls and ceiling meet, leaving little room for insulation. They are also more vulnerable to air leaks. You can add insulation along the edges by installing crown molding with high R-ratings made of expanded polystyrene, AKA Styrofoam.

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  8 лет назад +1

      Hi +vic06

    You could almost do a chimney-type hood for the hot aisle for the servers to the heat pipe, so that its not recirculating on itself. That might improve airflow and heat in the server room.
    Once done, would be a good followup video with the Flir One to see the difference ;)

    The IR camera is a good aid but you have to read it correctly. Your entire home is poorly insulated.

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Larry Maloney
      Thank You very much! It is not all that badly insulated, but there is room for improvement.

      Depends! What State are you in? Your house appears to be a story and a half cape cod style...which includes slope ceilings and kneewalls. What's in the slope ceilings? The kneewalls? Behind the kneewalls? The camera might be useful for quality control but you certainly don't need it to know if your home is insulated to the best possible standard. That starts with an honest, informed assessment. What's actually in the walls, the ceilings, and the basement?

I now touch all the keys when someone is behind me.

      It won't. The persons heat radiation will not go through a wall (radiation travels via electromagnetic waves and those can't pass through solid materials). When a person stands next to a wall, its heat convection won't be strong enough to have a tangible effect on the wall. Maybe if one were to stand with bare skin against a wall for more than, let's say, 2 hours? Maybe then the FLIR will pick it up.

      You can not see through walls with a thermal imager they only see surface radiation. When you see wall studs with you imager you are seeing the thermal contrast at the surface caused from the temperature differential. The imagers are very sensitive with a Delta T of 1/10th of a degree on better imagers. The greater the Delta T the better the contrast in the image. If the temperature is the same across the image plan you see nothing. Does not mater if it is hot or cold. You also see thermal anomalies caused from conduction, convection and radiation. You can sometimes see termites from the heat generated from their digestion of wood. Mice, Bees if it generates heat and transfers to the surface you can see it. The problem is you will not be able to make out what it is since the heat pattern will change as the target moves. They are great for finding missing insulation, water damage sometimes missing rebar. It takes a lot of training and classes to be able to interpret some of the more technical applications of thermal. Seeing people at night requires little training being able to hide from it does. No reference to the movie Predator.

      Hi Colin Sevier

      Thank you for watching! :-)
