Laura Harward, LICSW, director of the Intensive Clinical Program at Wounded Warrior Project’s Home Base program, talks about how two full days out of the two-week program are dedicated to not only supporting family and support members in their own care but also instructing them on the same skills they are teaching the veterans and service members. That way, when the veteran returns home, the family has a common language and the same toolbox of strategies to help mitigate and deal with the symptoms from PTSD.
