    When there is bad Leaving group, Hofmann product dominates. Then can we say that E1cB is a case of Hofmann alkene formation?

      @@loverboy9187 sir just explained exactly that via the mechanism. you can see how hoffmann alkene formation comes to dominate over the saytzeff's product due to the mechanism E1cb reaction goes through

    Poor leaving grp favours the reaction but reaction can also occur with all types of leaving grps. ...the only basic requirement is presence of an electron withdrawing grp. at beta carbon

    How come aldol condensation undergoes E1cb while Dehydration of alcohols happens by E2 when -OH is the leaving group in both the reactions?

      F give sn1 and sn2 when there is nucleophile like oh-,l-,... but c2h5o- act as a base (bcz of bulky in nature) so it attack on H not on C.
      2.when base attack on alpha position -ve charge is unstable bcz at bita there is resonance
