12:08 - The clothes you wear is a story you want to tell others about who you are, but your watch is a story you are telling yourself about who you are.
You crack me up. I've watched your journey and I seen you go from here and then there and then up and then down. You're just like all of us. And I know you know it too. Right now you feel comfortable with only two watches but that won't last and then when you have five or six watches you'll be talking about the time when you had two watches and how that just didn't fit. That's just the way this thing is. Enjoy it!
My way to handle this hobby cycle is by me switching hobbies here and there. when I see that my watch hobby starts to get out of hand I switch to fountain pens, then when that begins to get crazy, I switch to shoes and so on and so on. My cheapest hobbies are fitness, geeking out on astrophysics, and space rockets / missions.
First time viewer, enjoyed and agreed with your points. I bought too many more “affordable” (for me) watches and should have slowed down and bought fewer but better ones. I’ve learnt, am downsizing, researching for a long time as my taste evolves.
Sold my James Cameron last week... felt hella nice having that $ in the account. Also was nice that I didn't take much of a hit and felt like a nice little car lease to get the taste of something.
Feels same with seikos 😫 i cant stop digging through its history everytime i saw new things and on top of that you can build your own seiko and moding, hot rod, or restomod is another level of craziness
It's a crazy hobby but a harmless one (unless you get carried away beyond your means). I'd like to get down to 3 or 4 quality pieces. Good real-world content and discussion - thanks👍
Appreciate your videos. I have watched many of your videos as they relate to 5 v 6 series Subs. Think I have settled on 6 digit No Date, although the new Bruce Wayne is tempting. Have a great Turkey Day next week.
Interesting idea with the limit of money in watches, but not limiting the number of them. It changes a bit your own perspective. I personaly would rather take 1-2 (to me) special watches than 5-6 regular ones. Good talk! Looking forward to the Q&A video :)
Since I have bought my first ‘Grail’ watch I have only bought cheaper homages. My rule of thumb is only buy if I’m 100% in love and for a price I can sell on without much loss the next day. If either of those points aren’t for filled I won’t buy😬
Appreciate your conversation! You’d be a rad dude to grab beers and talk watches with. I have 4 and been kicking around selling a blue yachtmaster I got at retail. I’ve got a sultan dial (30th birthday gift to myself, have to keep). A polar explorer 6 digit, and a hulk (which I have to keep, my daily). Really want a jubilee. Thinking of selling the yachtmaster and Explorer to get a batgirl. Need to have less brain drain when I travel and work. Hard to decide. I hardly wear the sultan and use it as an “occasion” watch (feel it’ll be worth a lot someday). Need to get more simplicity
I chose all the budget on the blancpain fifty fathoms 42mm. It feels like I’m finally done with the journey after going 20 watches deep into and hoping from one watch to another
@@SteelmoonWatches I love your ups and downs man you are definitely have the experience to tell us about the cycles. I'm still on my first accumulation phase.
Well, i started selling some watches i never wear. And i got two Forstner bracelet for two pieces that lacked a great bracelet. So very soon i will have slimmed down, however better collection fitted to my needs and interests
So true, you have to wear a watch your mind likes. I like the daytona but when I put my friends daytona on the wrist I dont like it. I like my sub 41 so much more. I dreamed of that watch ever since watching 007 movies growing up. For me 2 watches are the way to go. Maybe soon seamaster 300 will leave for some other brand.
Problem is, whenever there are super gd deals, I buy.. bought 20+ watches since covid.. 😢 and sold none. And all are 3 handers..Rolex, Cartier, Tudor and Seiko..
I just have to ask you sir with all due respect are you famous anywhere other than RUclips? If not you should be your voice and your presence on camera should be known the world over
Mate, spot on. A lot of it also arises from boredom. In my opinion, the most a man needs are 3 watches in a collection. A Sub and a GMT are great 2 and then probably something like a Datejust or SkyDweller.

Well said. I’m in the middle of switching hobbies myself.
Pens are a lot of fun.
Tis the season of joy, posting three times in a short period this is great!! Keep up the good content and talks. Big fan!
You explain our illness and our watch feelings really good👌
I try to. Sometime the head gets away a bit hehe
Completely agree, I think the best advice is to set a $ allocation and stick to it, we could all exist with 1 or 0 watches if we had to

Our favorite watch therapist 😂👍
😂
Dr. Steel Moon 😂
That guy who owns the Rolex’s and Aqua Terra sounds cool. Amazing taste, that guy.
Good thoughts. Thanks for another great video, cheers.

I limit myself to buying 1 luxury watch per year. that way I think really hard what I want to buy and don't have to sell them again.

3 watch collection is ideal, but 6 is my max limit.
Make memories with two quality watches. Then you're covered when one is in for service. Keep it simples! Enjoy 😊

Mike, do you still have any beaters? I remember you used to own a Seiko Turtle and an SKX.
Skx mate 👍🏼 turtle I gifted to a friend.

I bought my dream watch and I made it my only watch. The new blancpain fifty fathoms 5010. I’m out for good this time
Im a HOMOSAPIEN and proud of it
Also, it’s surprising to still hear you talk about the hulk. I feel like I overpaid. Do you miss it?!
🙌🏿 🙌🏿 ffs Mike! 😂
Bracelet next to a sub? Arabs ! Tasteless😅
Guys. What in the world is wrong with us?! lol

@@bernardwadding6290 yes. a czapek antarticque is very nice. i have been studying those.
You talking the looser talk. Think of Andrew tatelty. One watch is for loosers and weeners only!!
That’s it mate
