Does the SD4K wear a lot bigger than the 16600?

I discovered your channel last week as I was just thinking of getting a Rolex. Not a collector but just always had one until a few years ago when I just don’t wear it often enough as I became very active with training and running and sport watches become my daily drivers. And so I sold it. After watching your thoughts on the SD4k last week i decided to just look around and see if i can get one. Picked one up yesterday in really good condition and will see how I enjoy it.

Point of contention with the term faux patina. All lume does not have to be white. If you simply look at darker lume as being a different color, that helps. If a watch is legit trying to look like an old watch, like there are other elements of forced ware, or maybe even if it’s a direct copy of an old watch, yes you could say faux patina, but the 1033 is not trying to do this. Now, if someone just doesn’t like how the darker tone looks with the other colors, that’s fine too. Certainly the 1033, to stay with that example, would look a lot more crisp with white lume, but tan lume compliments the blue very well too.

Rocking my 124060. Damn it is so satisfying to wear it and read time. Symmetrical, simple, classy, stoic. Owned a DJ and it taught me to tolerate the cyclops but when gunk started building up and when the hand was distorted every time it reached the 3 hour marker it got my OCD going hard. Such an honest and pure watch that remains faithful to its origins, thanks to it now I almost always look for a no date option when it comes to a watch unless it's Glashütte PanoMaticLunar since I am not looking for other Rolex watches right now.

Couldn’t disagree more , I have both the Sub Date and Seadweller 43, love both ! Sub is Fantastic no doubt but the Seadweller 43 is the icing on the the cake guys! Especially if you lift , and want a sub with more presence . My sub seems to small at times , best to get both guys !

I have both sub date and and Seadweller 43, best to have both . The sub is the perfect watch for everyday and a one and done watch. but the SD43 presence trumps the sub , it’s like a sub on steroids and the sub seems small to me at times. I don’t buy a watch as an investment

Wearing mine now and it’s my absolute favorite. I was considering the 126710BLRO and even compared the 2 side by side two weeks ago and you can’t imagine how disappointed I was about the new reference. How chunky and inelegant it looked to me. The 16710 has so much charm

If one wanted just one Panerai, the 233 is definitely up near the top of the list of contenders! I don't have a 233 yet, though it is likely my next purchase. I went the other way in Panerai ownership and acquired nearly a dozen of them. Somewhere in the collection are all the elements of the 233, just not so nicely embodied in the one watch. As similar as they all are to each other, I find each one in my collection has their own unique aspect. Wouldn't have guessed a few years back that more than half my collection would be Panerai, but here we are! IMO, things to love about the 233... The right balance of wearable size while remaining true to Panerai's original larger aesthetic... the crown guard is iconic... sandwich dial is a must... the domed crystal adds a whole other dimension to enjoy... manual wind just feels so much closer to the origins of mechanical watches... (traveler) GMT has to be my favorite complication for practical usage... not just hacking but zero-reset seconds is a really nice, and under-rated feature... power reserve is useful and much more symmetrical than some implementations... great color combo (not such a fan of the fauxtina present on other models)... overall symmetry missing on many of the Luminors (having a "9" but not a "3" bothers me, if I stop to think of it)... display back for greater appreciation... great, now I've just talked myself into buying one sooner than planned! I'm wearing my PAM 200 today, white gold Radiomir with the same movement, as well as sharing many other aspects. Almost as perfect as a single Panerai as the PAM 233 would be!

I wanted a Batman considered it my grail for years, finally got one and absolutely hated the polished centre links. I kept contemplating the batgirl but I’m an oyster guy so I decided to get the explorer2 polar and I absolutely love it!

SMP trumps the seamaster in so many ways. I only love the GMT II more, but always find myself wearing the SMP 300.

Loved the video. Great commentary. Couldn’t agree more w/the observations on age/dress/profession commiserate choices. One very well may have the money to buy a $45k DD at 28, but trust this - no one is confusing you with Richard Dawkins, Daniel Boulud, or JFK. Real stripes are earned, not bought. Re - when best to wear, I tend to wear these sort of pieces when I know I’m going to need some beauty during the day. Not dissimilar to a gorgeous pocket square or particularly special cuff links. Re - the model, this is where reasonable minds can differ. I personally prefer the white script and find the overall new dimensions better than the former model. Thanks for the video, Mike! Very good observations. I concur with everything you said. I was originally going to buy the preceramic sub date, but when I tried it on it was too thick. So I did research and learned that the no date was thinner. Pulled the trigger without ever trying it on and it ended up being perfect. Years later, still havent sold it.

Personally, if I had this budget to spend on a watch I would get the following 3 watches: 1. Panerai Luminor Marina 42mm Black Dial > for casual occasions. 2. IWC Mark XX Blue Dial > for business smart occasions. 3. Junghans Max Bill 38mm Gold Case > for formal occasions.

IDK…Leaving factory stickers on one’s Rolex eventually leaves the watch looking like a beautiful woman with a peeling sunburn on her shoulders and forehead… Adding aftermarket stickers…..well….. something in me thinks that’s a new soul vs old soul argument. These things ( cars, watches, leather goods and clothing ect ) are meant to be used and given a life by using them during your own.
