Good video review ....WTB saddles have been pretty good for me over the years ..... Did The Tour of California Alps on them ....10 hours on the bike no problem ....
Great video ! I am still using my stock Bontrager on my Farley 5, but my husband changed his to a Brooks and loves it. The right saddle is so critical to enjoyment and performance of the sport. Thanks !!
Fabric Scoop Shallow race is was comfy, but it got harsh during the winter, especially in sub zero temps, horrible in -10C. But it feels harsher now, already retired one, now I need to retire nr2.
Great bikes and seats review! I'm trying to get back into cycling starting with cycling on a trainer but after 5/10 minutes get a sore ass for a few days. Currently have a new Selle but went to the local bike store today and bought a seat with more cushioning. Hopefully no more sore ass. The seat is so important bc it's one of the points where you and the bike fit together.
Yep very true. Higher priced named brand saddles definitely don’t ensure comfort. Everyone is different so different styles and width saddles will work for different people. Hope the new saddle works out! If not, good bike shops can help with measuring your sit bones to get you on the right saddle.
The speed 5 is now pretty much the WTB Comfort I've noticed maybe a tad longer but looks pretty identical side by side to my old one just not comfortable its solid and i mean absolutely solid for a comfort saddle! I wouldn't recommend the comfort
Hey Tom. Thank you for providing some useful comparisons with the saddles you featured. I have a question that I haven’t been able to find an answer for. I bought a 2023 Surly ICT and it came with a Selle Italia saddle. However, I cannot find which model it is. I am strongly considering purchasing the WTB Volt saddle that the ICT used to come equipped with. The Selle Italia saddle is very narrow and offers virtually no padding. So my question really is this; do you know why Surly made the switch from the WTB Volt saddle? I am just curious as to the logic Thank you
If this was a new purchase, it’s surprising to me that Surly would fit this saddle. Surly is owned by Quality Bicycle Products (as is Salsa). WTB is also a partner of QBP as well. This is why it’s common to see Salsa handlebars and WTB saddles on Surly bikes, so I can’t explain why the Selle Italia would be on there as to my knowledge they have no connection with QBP. I have some Selle Italia saddles I like, and hate. So yes if it’s not working for you, I think the Volt 142 is a decent all rounder.
Thank you for your in depth reply. I am still curious as to the rationale behind (what I feel is) a dramatic change in saddle type. I really enjoy the content you bring to your channel! 🙂
Hey Tom. I couldn’t “let it go” regarding the reason for the saddle-switch. Oh, and I did find the model for the Selle Italia, it is an “X-Base”. I contacted Surly and they did get back to me. The rep said the change was due to part availability, and that the ICT’s may come with the WTB Volt again in the future. I did purchase and install the Volt and have had a noticeably better ride experience. Just wanted to let you know in case it helps with your content. Thanks!
As a long time endurance cyclist I can tell you that padding is mostly irrelevant on a bicycle saddle. Shape and flex is everything. These are not stationary couches and how it handles your ever bouncing weight and how it flexes and matches the natural structure of your body is going to factor on the comfort far more than any cushion/padding. Some of the most comfortable saddles have nearly no or zero padding for instance Brooks and Selle SMP
I got the WTB comfort its pretty much the speed 5 re badged but its not comfortable gel inside mine its pretty solid im back on the lookout once again for a new saddle haha getting quite annoying now! I find the rails on these arent long enough same as SDG bel air V3 the rails seem shorter definitely need another inch back with them, my bike is fitted for my hight but with these 2 new saddles i feel i an trying to sit on the rear lip edge of both these! Nothing worse trying to find a good saddle eh
i cant find your favorite wtb saddle new anywhere. i can find one that looks like it but has GT on the seat but other wise looks the same. do you happen to know if there is a difference?
Interesting, I never seen them not on eBay, but maybe they got snatched up! If it is the same saddle it may have some different branding on it, so still might be worth a try.

Thanks for the feedback! Those Brooks saddles look great and I’m guessing the following they have is well earned!

Nice video 💪
Thanks for watching!
That’s allot of comparing and good information that will be helpful to anyone looking for the right saddle!!

I’ve been using SDG’s Bel Air’s(now V3) for well over 10 years and don’t ever see myself changing.
Nice! I will need to check that one out!!

@@lambdahmv thanks for the heads-up, and it makes sense why they would make the temporary change!

Enjoying my Brookes on my Trek Checkpoint
I still want to try one of those at some point.
Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for checking it out!
When did we start calling them saddles 😅..
Always I think!?
A saddle implies discomfort whereas a seat implies comfort. There’s some fundamental problems with static saddles/seats.
@@robinmacan3929 No the term comes from England..seat is American
If you look at the big domestics, they list them as saddles on their websites, FWIW. Personally I am fine with either term.
@@ElevationEveryWeekendPersonally I like to think that , they are the Throne 👑😁
They’ve called them saddles for a long time, but I don’t see any stirrups.
Wtb have a new speed with stelth decals they just showed it on there channel i got the new Wtb comfort just fitted it so got to go test this now
Nice, they make good saddles overall so hope the new ones are even better!

Do you not like the new WTB Speed saddle? Thx.
I can’t say I have tried it yet, at least the current version. I believe I have an older version and it wasn’t too bad

I've seen multiples on ebay WTB V
I don't have 15 bikes with seats that cost the same as my one bike lol
I think we only have 13!
