She was fortunate her family was wealthy and had connections or her story would have been so different I think. Her father’s foresight to get their family out early was such a smart thing to do. So many stayed until it was too late to get out of Germany and also to find a country that would allow Jewish people in. Helga, you’re beautiful inside and out and you have a lovely daughter and grandson!
Thank you for your testimony Helga- putting up with many of the exact same questions must have been a joyride! I know this may not be the place, but your Dad is beautiful in that photo! Loved having the ending segment with the family- not so many of these recent testimonies seem to have it.
I do not understand why she agreed to give an interview when she refuses to answer question after question. I have seen hundreds of survivor's testimonies, survivors who went to hell, deported, starved, tortured. They were more generous and respectful to the interviewer than this woman who thank God escaped with her family and seems to still be angry for a doll. A doll which her mother gave to a jewish child in France, and we do not know the fate of that child. I have to turn it off. It almost upsetting. Glad her parents could afford and had the opportunity to escape and survive. But this woman attitude is obnoxious and pretentious. Sorry but this is how I feel. The first witness of your program we could have done without.
I agree I watched hundreds of interviews but this woman says so little almost like she doesn't want to talked. This interview is boring because she doesn't engage, it is question and short answers.
Who is this interviewer? He is terrible, repeating questions, keeping the interview at too slow a pace. When the survivor doesn't know the answer, he needs to move on. He lacks the training to do this. She was young and she is not going to know what her parents' political opinions were. Parents didn't discuss those things with children back then. He goes back and forth after she has given the best answer she can. She really tried, but the interviewer made it a poor interview! I thank the survivor anyhow. We did learn at least something !
Thankyou Helga. You have a lot to offer us with your testimony as you tell it through the eyes of a child. Yes, you are a survived of the Holocaust. ❤

Who writes these questions? There are a million things I could think to ask a survivor
At least he's not asking her to spell her name and others
❤
Thank you for sharing.
The interview was in 2023 , and she was born in 1931 ,

Do not judge her!
Either listen with respect or don't bother!

What do you want her to do, make it up?
