Sad to know that soon there will be no survivors left to remind us. God FORBID that our generation, or any future generations forget! We are already seeing attitudes from 1934. We are not above allowing this behavior to repeat. Human nature does not and has not changed since 1934. 😢

Incredible story of survival... my grandparents both survived the concentration camps as well. They were both rounded up into trains from their villages in Ukraine. My grandfather escaped a camp near Dresden when allied forces bombed the city to rubble. He and a few others managed to run during the sudden confusion as the aircraft showed up above them when the sirens went off.
My grandmother was in Dachau and other camps. Black American soldiers liberated them. Because she was taken when she was only 16, living only in a rural village, she thought african americans were only a myth. But now they were liberating her. She thought they were Actual Angels from an army from god as they came down in parachutes out of the skies and spoke an unfamiliar language (English).

This actually portrays perfectly how bad it was. What I mean is I tell people that however horrible you thought it was, it was worse. Like you couldn't possibly really imagine it. Everyone expects that it was supposed to be like those dramatic moments in movies, but in reality, it wasnt some dramatic moment. A nazi could look at you, and just point. That was what could really determine your death. It wasnt like this whole, oh he almost escaped and got beated, this crazy moment of resisting. Nope, nazi just pointed at him and that determined his death.
