This information from this guy saved me about $450 compared if a dealer did the work. I purchased the wireless OBDII for about $25, got the free Ford Scanner download, ordered the part for $31 from Amazon, and finished installing by myself in under 30 minutes. Not bad for $56. Hats off to you my friend!

This is fantastic! My PAM started acting out; basically it indicated that I was approaching something when I wasn’t. Damn thing would “beep” for no reason. I cleaned them up but still doing it. Thanks. I’m going to get the BT module and download the software. 😎
My 2005 F350 parking aid system just started to malfunction about 2 weeks ago. It started with the beeper sounding continuously as a steady tone whenever I shifted inti reverse, like you were about to hit something, Now it's gone silent. I'm going to order the adapter and download the Forscan software. Thanks to your excellent video, I feel confident I can get this fixed.
Old school > chock wheels - turn key to on position- put in reverse- go to rear and put ear close to sensor and cover sensor with finger and if you don’t hear a clicking sound it’s a bad sensor. Works every time
Great video as always Brian! I had the PAN fail on my Ford Five Hundred. I was able to diagnose it by very carefully listening to each parking sensor when in reverse. They emit a very slight buzzy sound (they use ultrasound) when functioning. In my case the sensor was fine - it was the wiring harness behind the right rear tire to that sensor that was broken. If you live in the salt belt be sure to check your wiring FIRST before purchasing the sensor. Don't fire the parts cannon at your vehicle like I did without proper diagnosis. BTW - I have an ELM 327 that I bought off ebay - I'm definitely going to use the Forscan software from now on when diagnostics are required! Cheers!
very good! I use that program to reset the computer, since when the battery of my 2015 Ford Ranger is disconnected, the low lights do not work. Huge greeting from Argentina
You can also do this simply by ear without any tools. Do not start the vehicle, put in in reverse and listen to each sensor by basically putting your ear to the sensor. Functioning sensors will have a very fast tapping noise that you can here up close and the faulty one will not. I did this with my 06 Explorer and it was an easy fix. Replaced it with the same sensor in the video description.
One thing to keep in mind with the cheap ELM adapters is for newer Ford vehicles with multiple CAN buses they will only see the one bus. You can buy them that are pre-modded to switch between the most common HS and MS can buses manually or mod them yourself with some basic soldering skills. There's also more expensive ones such as OBDLink which will be able to auto-switch. So for most things the barebones ELM adapters are fine, but it will depend on the age of your vehicle and the modules you are trying to work with. Brian covered this in his pinned post mentioning the MScan capable adapter, just figured I'd go into further detail.
I have the bluetooth adapter and was able to add a toogle switch to it, wire to the pins on the adapter and I am now able to read the modules on the HS and MS bus on my 2011 Ford F150 by moving the toogle switch between the two buses.
Love your Tech page, very helpful and easy to understand. I did a PAM self-test to check if speaker worked and it beeped several times and message "Low Brake Fluid" warning came on. The DTC code points to outer left sensor, and I swapped it out but didn't fix..Now assuming the problem is somewhere in the wiring to that sensor, so I'll have to check it out. My question is , what does brake fluid level warning have to do with this PAM module? Thanks
Another great video, Brian. I've heard about Forscan software and have yet to try it. I have two newer Fords, so I'm going to download it to my computer. I already have the wi-fi dongle, so I'm good there. Keep up the good work.
Great video as usual Brian. Which adapter is recommended, the basic or advanced? I am confused as to which one would be best for my F-150. Don’t see how to compare them. Thx
I have a 2010 F150 super crew and I’m having problems with the radio screen fading out after it turns on and doesn’t ever turn back on. I’ve checked and replaced fuses, taken then connector out and put it back in the review mirror, disconnected the battery and literally everything I would’ve done when I was a technician. I think it’s the APIM but I don’t wanna jump on a $100 part before asking you if you have any advice. Thanks for the help in advance and I love the videos!
Worked like a champ on my super duty to fix the park aid. Not so much luck on my 2003 Lincoln town car. Forscan doesn't find the PAM module even after I replaced it and put two new sensors in. I know module powers up because when I put in reverse the Display overhead says park assist disabled. Strangely if I am near a building when I put in reverse it will work briefly and then go to disabled.
You have to replace the module it's located behind the rear seat under the package tray trim I the same problem on my 2005 Lincoln it's about $180 brand new replacement part work like a charm after I replace the module. Be sure you get the updated part number don't replace it with the exact same part of my memory is correct the original part on my 05 Lincoln had an 03 date code for the replacement I believe had an 06 date code
This is great to be able to pull data! My question is what can it do for the GEM module on the trucks that have the intermittent wipers working erratically and hazards getting stuck on?
Great work with Forscan Brian. I'm familiar with it and have a wired adapter with the hi/low switch modification. Is it possible to switch a 2017 Focus to use the DDS system instead of TPS sensors with Forscan?

Curious if you have any insight on failed Intelligent Access door sensors? The drivers door handle just recently failed completely on my 2013 C-Max. I have a 06 350 powerstroke every once in a while my climate control will go completely dead and won’t turn on if I unhook both batteries it comes back I’ve also checked before unhooking batteries for hvac codes with an autel scanner and find nothing I’m kinda lost on it do you have any ideas thanks for your time
