      @@IvanaChapman Mine is alcohol! I'm one of those types where the moment I even have a single beer or glass or wine when out with friends, I want another, and another, and soon I've found myself having drank multiple shots, switching to hard liquor, insisting at midnight when everyone is starting to get tired that we go dancing or karaoke, and end up hungover and regretting it the next day. It's a very childish thing but I always seem to lack discipline once I have even one drink. It unlocks like an inner child that wants to play and never go home until I'm about to lose consciousness.
      Being disciplined with food has been relatively easy to me in comparison. I'm not a very picky eater and I never fully understood the joy people have in eating the most calorie-dense snacks and foods. But I take far, far too much joy in being intoxicated. The whole difference to me still between washboard abs and flabby rolls comes down to how long I can refrain from having a single alcoholic drink.

    For me it's super helpfull to add some veggies to a treat meal or snack. Like when I eat a pizza, sometimes I'm already filled after half cuz I'm having a salad on the side.

    An iterative mindset always benefitted me more without a CiCo approach. There's always room for improvement every single day in what I do and eat that I find freeing when I'm not measuring calories or macros.
    I found when I tried CiCo very strictly down to measuring every little thing I ate and meal prepping for a whole week in advance that there was a binary "I did it or I didn't" mindset. It didn't encourage me to seek improvements like seeking to train harder or seeking to replace foods with ones more rich in micros even if they amounted to the same calories/macros. I even did weird things sometimes when I was strictest like eating a teaspoon of mayo before I went to bed to meet my macro goals (my tendency was to undereat when I'm measuring than overeat and constantly finding myself a little short at the end of each day) while staring at spreadsheets all the time.
    I've found it very liberating to let go of that mindset to measure/count everything, but also in terms of finding room for improvement every day. I think the one great benefit of calorie/macro tracking in my youth was that it forced me to look up nutrition values on every single thing I put in my mouth. I was pretty oblivious before I started. But I no longer feel blind when I'm not counting; I actually feel like my eyes are more open to seeking further and further improvements without it.

    I hear a lot about reverse diet. Is it real? Is it possible to increase calories without gaining weight?

    • @IvanaChapman
      @IvanaChapman  Год назад +3

      Sort of in line with your other comment: your body is constantly making adaptations and maintenance calories tend to be a bit of a moving target. Reverse dieting for a short period of time can be effective if someone has been dieting on very low calories for quite a while. Generally it’s really only relevant in physique competitors who have been able to achieve a very low body fat percentage (that isn’t sustainable for the long term). But gradually increasing calories can be a good strategy for anyone who has been keeping calories low for several months.

    does coffee helps in reducing fat eg sylvester stallone used to drink 25 cups of coffee and got down to around 5% body fat

    • @IvanaChapman
      @IvanaChapman  Год назад +4

      Caffeine has extremely mild fat burning properties. It's main benefit is that it gives you energy, which means you can work out harder and burn off more calories. However, 25 cups a day is insane! Up to 5 cups a day is considered safe. As for Stallone, he was never 5% body fat...maybe 8-10% at his very best. I actually saw that he claimed he was 2.8% at one point. No way! 😂 And let's not forget that he also had chemical help: he's known to use HGH and probably other PEDs.

      @IvanaChapman  Год назад +4

      No, I don’t think more caffeine will help for fat loss. Reducing your calories is the most effective way of losing fat.

      @@IvanaChapman but I wanna know if slight calorie deficit like 400kcal will maintain muscle as well as I don't have big muscles yet

    • @IvanaChapman
      @IvanaChapman  Год назад

      Maintaining muscle comes down to strength training and getting enough protein. You’re more likely to lose muscle in a calorie deficit if you don’t pay attention to those things.

      It Seems like so, tracking calories is a great recipe for going low fat, most of the time...
      Lean meat, egg whites... Low fat milk... For some people, that avoidance might end up creating some nutritional deficiencies...

    • @nyanmaruunlocked399
      @nyanmaruunlocked399 5 дней назад

      She never said no fat, just low fat. Because you have saturated fats and unsaturated fats. Dairy products have mostly saturated fats which you want to avoid, same as lean meats. Doesnt mean you have to avoid the products because they are healthy, but when it comes to dairy, lower fat is better. The fat you want to get on your daily day comes from cooking with olive oil, avocados, fatty fish, nuts and whatever other thing that has unsaturated fats.
      Cholesterol is enough with eating 2 eggs a day (this might depend from your weight and height) but about 1-2 eggs a day is enough, more than that can be dangerous for the average person.
      I started to track my meals for some months ago and with just half avokado, cooking with olive oil and eating a fatty fish or peanut butter i get about 60g of fat from the 80-100g i need daily. The rest comes from dairy low fat products, eggs and chicken, have not had any problem with having my fat between 70 to up to 110g a day.
