Glad you found a fix that works for you, however now you don't have a positive feed back status of weather or not the locker is actually engaged or disengaged.

I heard oil is getting into the sensor and shorting it out. Also Z Automotive makes a bypass harness that allows the dash and OE switch to function properly.

Just had my rear sensor replaced at a local dealer. Only 2 days in the shop. Had a friend go right after me to fix the same issue and they were out of stock for the sensor. Didn't know how long to get the sensor back in stock. Didn't want an axle replacement so the sensor fix was good for me for now. Guess we will see how long it lasts or if my front axle sensor will fail.

Thanks for this fix, I'm not even going to mess with the dealership warranty on this one.
Just ordered the parts and am going with the switch fix.
Put heavy diff covers and skid plates on mine and don't feel like taking them off only to wait on parts that will eventually fail again anyways.
Just need to get the Taser now...was putting it off due to price.
Any recommendations for best price on a mini?
    Thanks.

Was going to ask...has anyone tried cleaning the metal fuzz off the sensor to see if it fixed the light problem allbeit temporally?

  • @rustypwnismo7384
    @rustypwnismo7384 2 года назад

Power Wagons have the same problem. The sensor design it different. The magnet and sensor are not shrouded. We use a Q-tip to clean the magnet and sensor to clean the metal fuzz. Plus there is a gap setting between the magnet and sensor. If it's too small. It won't show that it's engaged. Too big, it shows it as engaged all the time.

So you just ran the harness to an external switch, bypassing the factory one? Do you think it should be done for the front and the rear? Thx

After 2 sensor replacements (by dealer) now they say replacing front differential will fix issue, it’s under warranty (drivetrain). Repair time as of today….unknown!

Today my 2018 Jeep Rubicon rear axel began flashing (red panel) and the yellow Icon came on the dash showing rear axel locked. My big question is>>>> IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE? This is my only vehicle and I have a family that rides in it all the time. Contacting dealer tomorrow. Thank you

If the rear axle locker is engaged you will feel tire scrub and possibly even tire squeal from the rear tires when you turn, especially in tight turns. The rear locker (front also) should never be engaged on paved roads and highways. It is very likely that the rear locker is not engaged. Iit is easy to check by having someone jack up the rear axle with the transmission in neutral, then rotate a rear tire by hand. If only one tire rotates, then the axle locker is not engaged. If both rear tires rotate, the locker is engaged.) Most likely, it's an issue with the switch/electronics but definitely have the dealer check it out.

I took mine to the dealership and they said it’s the sensor and they are going to replace it, we are waiting on the sensor to arrive, My question is it’s safe to drive? I don’t do off-road or anything besides used it to commute to work or travel.

Since you only need lockers for more difficult low traction situations, you should be fine for daily driving.

@@alljproductsbigbearsjeepsh5146 Sorry this sounds so dumb, because it kind of is. Looking for some wiring help. Did an axle swap for curries. Used Tazer mini and the Z automotive Locker Cables. Front end is perfect. Rear end, getting all kinds of lights and codes and nothing works. Essentially, the codes and errors are like the locker and abs sensors aren't even plugged in. I'm thinking the harness got "pulled" hard enough to damage / disconnect it OR it got pinched bad enough to damage.
Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this? How to test continuity for those systems from up front to at least test the theory?
