I can confirm it is happening to the 2019 JLU Rubicons....my buddy had the issue about a month ago and it just happened to mine yesterday. The issue is that even if you get the axle replaced under warranty it does not mean that it will not happen again. I got the Z Automotive bypass just in case anyway.
I was scheduling a re-gear and am now waiting because of the known issues with this. After all the headaches with my steering, I’ll just keep my 4.10 gears for now. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Trail Traveler!! I have a 2018 JKU that the front locker light is now blinking. After getting the run around from my local dealer, I have searched and searched as to why on the interweb. I will be looking into the bypass cable. Thanks again!
Thank you this just started on my JTR also. The only issue I have with the replacement axle under warranty is it's my understanding the dealer is installing an axle that can have the same issue in the future being they haven't corrected the issue? Not sure of this is accurate but it's a rumor. I'm probably going to try the harness.
Hello, we have designed a cable conversion for the Jeep elocker, it is being field tested now, hope to be in production in the new year, thanks. Works great so far!!!
@@TrailTraveler Hi, no not at all, it goes where the magnet is now, run a twist throttle cable to the cab wherever it fits without to much bend, just wind the throttle control out and your all locked up, wind it in and your unlocked, work very smoothly, only 2 moving parts.
Thanks for the info, I have a 2018 JLU, I recently changed the front/rear axle shafts, truss welded ,5.13 re -gear and also I'm using Tazer mini , no issues so far, replace whole axle is not an option for me but is good to know about this sensor fix in case is needed
thanks for the video man. this just started on my 2020 JT Rubicon. mine is reheated so i don't think jeep will honor the warranty, they already have me a hard time because i have mods on it.
I have a 2020 JT Rubicon. Rear axle replaced at about 9,600 miles under warranty. Fast forward to 15, xxx miles and light coming on again. I ordered the Z Locker OEM yesterday.
Saw something like this working for the dealer. The reason customers seem to get the run around is because for warranty work there is a protocol that must be followed
Thanks for the video. I have a 2018 and my light just flashed for few seconds last week in 4H and then went away. But I’ll keep an eye out as I’m at 35k miles
😡 My luck! Not even 1 week of owning my 18 JLUR with 41k miles, I get the service axle locker system light. Man, I hope I don’t regret selling my Tacoma OR for this Jeep!!!
My axel was replaced (18 JLUR) at 13K. At 49k. And again I now have a flashing light and service locker message. The warranty is up in a couple of thousand miles. Then I’ll buy the plug and play option. But for now I’m making them replace the axel again. I use my lockers quite a bit.
I have a 2020 JLUR.. 3200 miles on it and the light is on.. I've also re-geared it. Lockers wont work in 4WD but the rear lockers will work in 2WD. Huh??? I'm gonna order the Z locker. I guess I should order two.. Right now the fault is on the rear, I'm sure it won't be long till it moves to the front also.
Same problem on my 2019 JL unlimited Rubicon, 24k miles, Dealer is replacing front axle under warranty, but it's back ordered, must be a larger problem than everyone knows.
Just started on my 2019 Rubicon. Blinking Locker light, now the service light. The wait time is very concerning as I am sitting in Saudi Arabia, got a feeling I will wait a very long time.
My 2018 JLUR has had its rear axle replaced 3 times. Each time fixes the locker light for a few months until I use the lockers again. Very irritating. Warranty or not I’m tired of taking my Rubicon to the dealer multiple times a year to get a new axle…
Have been to dealership, 3 times for same issue, each time they changed sensor. Days later “Service Axel Locker” light on. Now, dealer says they have solution. Will be “Changing out” front differential, part not in stock and will respond “soon” with estimated time(warranty repair)
Today my 2018 Jeep Rubicon (43,440 miles) REAR axel light began flashing and the yellow icon came on the dashboard. I was running errands and driving in town 2H gear. My biggest question is it SAFE to drive in a locked position. This is my only mode of transportation with my family. I do not want to put us at any risk.
Do you have any information on this issue that you can share with me so I can take it to the dealership. That would help a lot when explaining the problem to the dealership.
3/27/21. 2021 Rubicon 2097 miles. SERVICE AXLE LOCKER SYSTEM. Dealer had it a week. Replaces rear axle and rear actuator. Merging on to the freeway 3 miles from dealer ding ding ding SERVICE AXLE LOCKER SYSTEM. U Turn and it’s back at the dealer. I had it in my possession 15 mins. This is not good. Dana is not playing with FCA and providing the sensor units but forcing FCA to replace the whole axle. Guess the new one is bad too or the front axle.
2020 JTR light came on while wheeling seems functional.. going in for lift on Tueaday! Does a lift void warranty? Should I wait? 3" lift going on and 37s
A lift does not void the warranty unless they can prove that a component of the lift caused a failure of something (not bloody likely). I had my issue solved under warranty with a lift and 37s installed.
I have 20plus thousands miles no issues with lockers, but my mpg os dropped to 14.5 mpg. Dealership flashed the pcm. Still having the same problem ⚠️ huh 😕
@@TrailTraveler when I bought it it started off getting 20mpg. Put the tires and lift it went to 17. Then a year later it just suddenly dropped to the 14mpg and I haven't made any changes to my set up. Its going back to the dealership for than and for the stealing box fix
4 days ago I installed the z locker oem, (both) and the problem continues. my lockers work perfect but the light keeps on every 30sec. Is there anything else I can do ?
With this fix, does the locker light on the instrument cluster still work, since you are bypassing the sensor I assume it doesnt and so the only indication you have that your locker is locked is "seat of the pants". Is this correct?
I have this issue as well on my 2019 rubicon JL that I recently got. I drive it for 5 hours on highway and didn’t seem to be any issues at 70 mph but I cannot take it into the shop for another 2 weeks. Since this is my only vehicle i need it to get around but any advise if I can still drive it safely if not going OFFROAD?
Stay away from mountain freeways as if lockers lock at 65mph and your on a curve, well it could cause loss of control. Mine comes on articulating and shifting D to R and in 4WD and 2WD
@@TrailTraveler no sir, more of a bandaid that masks the issue. Jeep has not redesigned the sensor. I’ll probably do this after the warranty expires. On my 3rd sensor within 22,000 miles
@@KerryGarrison oh yeah, that’s the way to go for sure if you’re out of warranty. It just bothers me that Jeep service keeps getting worse and worse. Why they haven’t corrected this extremely common issue 7 years later is insane and unacceptable. Just not on 2021 models, they already have the new steering box

How does the z locker do? Pros/cons? Does if show up on your cluster when the axle is engaged or do you just have to remember whether it's on or not
