I am 75 yrs. old and handicap I don't have heart problems. I did some research and found out about cold showers. I started taking cold baths about a week ago. I could not believe how good it made me feel, I have so much energy now. I am also taking things to help with inflammation. I just subscribed to your channel.

"1. The world is more complex than you perceive it to be. Like there are things that you just don't notice that are really important.
    2. You have way more control than you ever thought you did.
    3. It costs you more and causes more harm than you think when you hold hate and anger in your heart. The antidote for that is gratitude and forgiveness."

    Actionable takeaways:
    - take a 1 minute cold shower daily
    - walk for 20 minutes each day
    - sprint train once a week
    - lift heavy weights when training
    - remove MSG from your diet

This is one of my favorite interviews Lewis!
There's no doubt that our brain is very complex and requires a "complex" approach. I was very interested in Daves research and knowing people myself that are passionate about neuroscience, I can say with almost utter certainty that this is not a topic one explores, much less devotes a lifetime to, unless it is close to their heart.
Side note: Anyone trying to discredit someone who is spending their life doing research to help improve lives, is honestly just not thinking with kindness and clarity. As Don Miguel Ruiz says, Be Impeccable With Your Word.
The most interesting parts of this interview for me were:
    - the debate between brain for muscles vs muscles for brain
    - MITOCHONDRIA (mind-blown)
    - the ways to "manipulate" mitochondria (cold showers, intense workouts, rest, right foods, etc)
    - Recovery time
    - Bullet Proof (had never considered it before)
Dave Osprey is right when he says that our brain and body functions are one complex being. So complex, that it takes experts, the curious, the sick, and the called, to follow new paths and show others the way.

There's an old Military saying regarding rest in wartimes that goes something like this. "If you can walk, walk. If you can stand, stand. If you can sit, sit. If you can lay down, lay down." I think this somewhat matches with what Dave is describing about pushing your Body effectively.

Whether you like him or not, a good percentage of what Dave is saying, is true and works. Nootropics...with water, regular exercise, and actual progressive learning, will take you far. No, nootropics don't suddenly give you a 40 point boost in IQ. But, they can grease the gears, so to speak. Like the quote from Limitless says, "Works better if you're already smart", which is pretty accurate.
I think...Dave would benefit from hiring younger, smarter people to push his brand.

Well he made me aware of my mythocondria, if anything. I'll do the cold shower thing for sure, good quality sleep check, move your ass check, get enough light check. As for eating the right foods, it's driving me crazy nowadays, I swear. You hear a thousand new theories and studies that tell you "alcohol is bad for you"- "not anymore! a glass of red wine is actually healthy". "You should always eat fish! fish is good for you" - "too much fish is unhealthy".."Garlic is an antioxidant , garlic is good for you" - "but bad for your stomache" ...I mean so much confusing information out there, everyone seems to know better nowadays and the information is often contradictory. How do I know what's right?

Dave Asprey has some good information and he also has some sketchy information. That is why you should do your own research because sometimes people may overlook things or become locked into their lie(s) to maintain their business interests. I have heard that if you have an overgrowth of candida that it feeds off of ketones easier than glucose. Is that true? I have been exposed to mold and have had neurological problems develop after. A change in diet helped a lot, but I have a candida overgrowth and a chronic inflammatory response to several foods with possible mycotoxins on/in them. I tried a ketogenic diet, but felt almost faint at one point.

    • @alexvat1995
      @alexvat1995 7 лет назад +1

Hmm, I'm not very knowledgeable on this stuff but I've hang out with people that are. I would suggest finding a fasting retreat, reading about it's benefits beforehand or slowly getting on keto-diet, remember you don't have to go 100% all in. I know there is a specific progressive method to this that I don't know the name of.
And a tip! Do trust all the "official science statements". Trust what works for you and trust what you see works in others. In other words be the scientist without the dogma!

Very interesting, not sure about eating less carbs though, being an athlete myslelf I eat a lot of carbs to fuel my muscle cells with glycogen and as far as I know mitochondrias prefered fuel source is glucose. I think there is also not a single high level athlete, especially sprinter, on a low carb (high fat) diet.

For someone that supposedly "bio-hacked" health he seems a little bit pudgy ...

I didn't even know he was taking that. But it is not just in the face I can see it, its his chest as well. I've read his bulletproof book. I'll admit it was very informative and interesting but I have also heard he is a con artist.

Good point... but have you read his book? In his book he claims to have had a six pack without going to the gym. All I'm saying is something isn't working or he isn't living what he preaches

I read the book and realized I am an idiot for buying his book. Buddy is on steroids , making his diet and training advice irrelevant.

Don't get me wrong, The Bullet Proof Diet book put a lot into perspective and helped me think differently but I wouldn't buy any of his products.

Coffee (caffeine ) makes the liver to release sugar to the blood and this causes " insulin" surge to be released by the pancreas ..the result is hunger and weight gain ! coffee stimulates the liver and the pancreas to release insulin.....( weight gain)
you want to lose weight? no coffee , no tea ....no caffeine! ....coffee and teas are a drug --- > ( caffeine )
