The worship of the natural world is probably more honest than most organised religions.... it's spiritual, it doesn't control. This music is so primal, you can imagine the ancient peoples of northern europe. It's very beautiful.

A Krigsgaldr is a "War Chant" or "War Magic"
The English bit with the throat singing by Kai (the Shaman) is the true "galdr" bit. In the past these segments would be sung / chanted with that throaty voice to immitate a raven.
The lyrics to Maria's segment are:
    Min Warb Naseu
    Wilr Made Thaim
    I Bormotha Hauni
    Hu War
Hu War Opkam Har a Hit Lot
    Got Nafiskr Orf
    Auim Suimade
    Foki Afa Galande
    Translation:
    The household wanes,
Vil threw a death wave over those
the oar locks wore out for, with the tired mast-top
    Who brought...
Who brought the horde over to the far country?
    The godly-fish from Firnøy’s streams
    Swimming in the drift
of the land of shining meadows.
In the context of the Lifa concert - all the songs go together telling the story of a peaceful tribe that was tricked into going to war with another tribe. That is why she asks, "who brings the invading horde here?"
The most important song to hear from this set is In Maidjan - which means "to change deceitfully" or "to corrupt". That song features an important chant that includes all the Futhark runes and is one of the best examples of Maria's singing.
After that, listen to "Alfadhirhaiti" from the same set. After that, you will be ready to invade your neighborhood.

It's interesting that you said about spirituality. I think there's a video on their channel about how the band formed and for one of the members he was disillusioned by religion and trying to find his place in the world. I’m on the exact same level when it comes to spiritual beliefs… I was raised Baptist, not a good experience for me. I then studied Wicca, Buddhism & under some native elders. Nothing has ever connected to my soul like Heilung… I can’t explain why, I do know that after watching their ceremony live I have never felt so unconnected with the earthly things like politics, religions or anything from the negativity humans like to surround themselves with… yet more of a feeling of peace & brotherhood. I’m so thankful I have found them ♥️

So from what I understand of this song, its a story about a village that is corrupted to war. That's why Kai's part was essentially saying "We dont want to fight but you are forcing our hands"

I think people are rightfully scared of bringing certain topics into their channels especially those with nothing to do with said topics, but I think when it is applicable and approached as you have it is perfectly acceptable and promotes a much more healthy tone when tapping into those topics as necessary. Appreciate your awareness on that and sharing your personal experience in relation to the reactions. Anyone squealing about it is just that, a squealer - incapable of perceiving alternative avenues of thought regardless of gain or loss to the information

The name "Krigsgaldr" means "war song" in the broadest sense (krig = war). However, "galdr" (or galster) is a magic song or a magic spell from common Germanic *galdra magic song, song. To conjure up with a magic spell is bigalan in Old High German. The main background of the prefix German * -gal is the bird song, which means that the Germanic tribes originally derived magic spells or song from the bird calls, such as the generic name of "Nacht-i-gal(l)" (nightingale) in today's High German still recognizable.
Examples of this are the second Merseburg spell and the Old English blessing of nine herbs, in which Wodan/Odin appears as a healer or as a magician. In Norse mythology, in the Liederedda (poetic edda), the galster is also attributed to the god Odin, who is also named galdrs fǫður, father of the galster, in the Vegtamskviða (Baldrs draumar), for example.

I always wonder why everyone insists on the live version. Krigsgaldr is one of the few Heilung-songs with it's own music video that describes the story behind the take Heilung takes on the rune-inscription from the Eggja-stone. Additionally, the studio performance is even better than on the live version, where the rap-section is a little off, and the audience attributes to the overall sound-experience with their ...eccentric vocal contributions... ruclips.net/video/K7ZqZVunCb4/видео.html

Hi, I didn't know this song and this group yet. That's very unusual - but very interesting. The song lives from the rhythm and the great voices. Visually, too, this is a successful performance.
I can recommend you the following similar unusual songs:
    - Wardruna and Aurora - Helvegen (Live) -ruclips.net/video/FnkTuHP9q3o/видео.html
"Helvegen" is about death, dying and remembering those who have passed. About crossing over and about letting go. It is a song about searching for lost songs and old traditions.
    Lyrics from the video explanation:
    The Way to Hel
    I sought the songs
    I sent the songs
    when the deepest well
    offered drops so mighty
    of Valfather’s pledge
    I know it all, Odin
    where you hid your eye
    Who will sing me
    in the death-sleep sling me
when I walk the road to Hel
    and the tracks I tread
    are cold, so cold
    Early or in fading day
still the raven knows if I fall
When you stand by the gate of Hel
and when you must tear loose
    follow you I shall
across the bridge of Gjöll with my song
You become free from the bonds that bind you
You are free from the bonds that bound you
    -----------------------------------------------------
    - FAUN - Walpurgisnacht (Official Video) - ruclips.net/video/nLgM1QJ3S_I/видео.html
Walpurgis Night is the night from April 30th to May 1st. I would like to explain a few things about it. So it's going to be a little longer - but I hope it helps with understanding.
Not only Walpurgis Night is celebrated today. The modern form is the "dance into May". May 1st is a public holiday in Germany - the "Labor Day".
"The roots of the Walpurgis celebration go back to pre-Christian times and Germanic origins. On this day, these "natives" of the Harz Mountains celebrated a spring festival accompanied by various sacrifices as joy at the end of winter and the marriage of the supreme Germanic god Wotan. Evil spirits were also expelled, which was to be done by disguises with masks, shots and fire. However, it is unclear whether the ancestors also held these rituals on the Brocken - the legendary center of Walpurgis activities.
    ...
Walpurgis Night is always celebrated on the eve of the feast day of St. Walburga, a learned woman and abbess of a nunnery whose life had nothing to do with witches and the devil. Only her canonization by Pope Hadrian II on May 1st established the connection to today's Walpurgis Night, because through numerous miracles, which are attributed to Walburga, she is also considered the patron saint of seafaring and against evil spirits." (source - www.harzlife.de/event/walpurgis-info.html)
One instrument is the hurdy-gurdy, a bowed instrument (particularly used in the Middle Ages) whose strings are bowed by a disc wheel above the bridge. The one with the crank.
The other instrument is a nyckelharpa. The one with the strings being pricked. Forerunners of the modern nyckelharpa have existed since the Middle Ages. Evidence of the existence of such instruments is mainly found in Sweden, but also in Denmark, Germany, Austria and Italy. There are a variety of forms of the nyckelharpa. A modern chromatic nyckelharpa has four playing strings. Depending on the design of the keyboard, a different number (usually three or all four) of the playing strings can be shortened with tangents and thus the pitch can be changed. Strings without a keyboard row are often used as drones. In addition, there are usually twelve sympathetic strings or sympathetic strings. These sympathetic strings lie below the melody strings and are not bowed with the bow, but stimulated to resonate by the tones played and their overtones. The sympathetic strings create the impression of a hall effect. When the first nyckelharpor were equipped with sympathetic strings is unclear. (Wikipedia)
I heard a nyckelharpa live in Sweden. That's incredible. You can't really hear that in this video. A "violin" is played and it sounds like a whole string orchestra is playing.
Lyrics: (Google search and Goggle translator:)
    Soar into the evening sky
    Tonight the magicians
    Wild folk and Lilith's kind
    Lurking winds secretly ride
    Let's roam to the fires
    Reach for the stars
    Good word and bad word
Let's carry it on and on today
In the willows our dreams will ring
And the winds will sing our songs
Let's jump over the fire with the sparks
    On Walpurgis Night!
Hear the violins, hear the violins
    (hey yo)
    The fires are lit!
    (hey yo)
Follow the dance, follow the dance
    On Walpurgis Night
    Impetuous in playing the violins
    Turns our nightly round dance
And we kick wild and free
    This old magic at
Once only in a large circle
    Let's dance that way
    Until the first morning light
    Our dream fabric breaks
In the willows our dreams will ring
And the winds will sing our songs
Let's jump over the fire with the sparks
    On Walpurgis Night!
Hear the violins, hear the violins
    (hey yo)
    The fires are lit!
    (hey yo)

We're loving in a world that feels more and more like a giant factory. Stuff like this pierces this feeling and returns us to ourselves. It's not the same religion that tells us what to do and enforces rigid rules, but something else altogether.
You might enjoy some of Munknor. They made a song, Deyja, which has a lovely video portraying this.

This song tells the story of a small Norse Pagan village that is attacked by people coming from the sea. From the lyrics you come to understand that these people want to convert them from their ways of life and their beliefs. They could be Christians. In Northern Europe when Christianity was introduced, and Christians decided to spread it to the far North they came to the Pagans and told them convert or die. And in many villages the Norse Pagan's were literally genosided by the Christian invaders. The people of this village say they want peace, and just to be left alone to coexist with these invaders. They say that they don't agree with the path they choose to follow, and that they believe it will lead to their downfall. But these invaders will not listen , they only understand the language of the sword [violence]. So these Pagan's promise them there will be no coexistence only genoside from which so much blood will flow that it will make the flames of the sun look like dying embers.

Well Krigsgaldr does translates to Warmagic if i am not wrong so i get why you say it sounds like a war chant... if you wanna hear a berserker ritual check Alfadhirhaiti live from the same show as krigsgaldr.

This stuff is primal, brother. I'm an old metalhead but this shit does it! In Maidjan got me and now I love it all. Primal. I don't think there's anyone that this won't resonate with. Pretty sure primal music could bring us all together...that and F'n Slayer!!!

Amazing song and has such a deep meaning, but here is the English part. Gets me so fired up!
What am I supposed to do
If I want to talk about peace and understanding
But you only understand the language of the sword?
What if I want to make you understand that the path you chose leads to downfall
But you only understand the language of the sword
What if I want to tell you to leave me and my beloved ones in peace
But you only understand the language of the sword
I let the blade do the talking
So my tongue shall become iron and my words the mighty roar of war
Revealing my divine anger's arrow shall strike
All action for the good of all, I see my reflection in your eyes
But my new age has just begun, the sword is soft
In the fire of the furnace, it hungers to be hit
And wants to have a hundred sisters
In the coldest state of their existence
They may dance the maddest in the morass of the red rain
Beloved brother enemy, I sing my sword song for you
    The lullaby of obliteration
So I can wake up with a smile
And bliss in my heart and bliss in my heart and bliss in my heart
    Coexistence, conflict, combat
    Devastation, regeneration, transformation
That is the best I can do for you
I see a grey gloom on the horizon
That promises a powerful sun to rise, melt away all moons
It will make the old fires of purification, purification
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers
Look like dying embers, look like dying embers

Ok this is gonna be a long one...
Ive just spent the last 2 days going down a rabbit hole of watching 'Hi Ren' reactions and came across yours. Subbed straight away.
So, I've been looking through your content and have a few recommendations I think you'd like.
First off, you said you liked Nightwish, Have you heard of Jinjer? If not, try 'Jinjer- Vortex'
I'd also say, if you like folk metal... try 'Bloodywood- Dana Dan'
As for Heilung, ALL their songs are great and Id say watch em all but I'd add 'Wardruna' to that list too.
Love your breakdowns/analysis so keep up the great work.
Guess that wasn't as long as I thought. 😕

You're very clever the drum beat and music at the start of the song does give you a sense of unease a sense of something violent and intense to come but this song is literally a call to war. That is literally what the word Krigsgaldr means, The Call To War.

Thanks so much for the info! Some of my favorite things to listen to are film scores. It's probably left over from the years of playing in a classical band. When you dive into music theory, you find similarities in how different composers give the same feelings through music, hence why you hear the common sentiment that music is the universal language.

It's ok. same thing happens to me and I've listened to them for 4yrs now. Is your body shakey at a low vibration. It's your DNA awakening to your ancestory. Your ancestors calling you. They live and they live through you and your blood. Cry if you must on or off camera, but release and let the healing begin...afterall Heilung means healing. Whats your connection to nature like?

you should react to In majan from the same concert great throat singing and her voice leads you somewhere else. one thing. this is not something they made up their lyrics come from ancient texts and poems and the female singer headgear is an almost exact copy of one found in an archeological dig in Sweden and it belonged to a female shaman or seer which is the role Maria Franz has on stage. the shamans on stage are the ones with horns Maria who is from Norway and Kai who is from Germany. and yes they just toured in the USA I think the tour american leg is over but you can check. another great video you can react to is Narupo great song and great visuals.
