    For the dispel magic/counterspell question: wouldn’t lore bard be more correct because they can use peerless skill to add bardic inspiration to the check?

    • @zeestar0112
      @zeestar0112 8 месяцев назад +1

      Remember it's Classes and maybe even Subclasses.
      The wizard class can't but the abj. subclass can. The Bard class can because of Jack of all trades(Half of PB gets added to the counter/Dispel check)

    • @Rocker4JCforever
      @Rocker4JCforever 8 месяцев назад

      @@zeestar0112well, yes. All of that is correct. But of all Bards, the Lore Bard is the best Counterspeller because at level 14 they can add half proficiency And one of their own Bardic Inspiration dice (d12) to the Charisma. Peerless Skill

    • @zeestar0112
      @zeestar0112 8 месяцев назад

      @@Rocker4JCforever sure...but because All Bards is already marked as correct, there's no reason to go into a specific subclass.

    Lore bard also gets further benefits for counterspell and dispell magic after 14th level with the use of their peerless skill feature.
    Also both bards especially and Warlocks get the benifits for counterspell and dispell magic as they are the only classes that can cast glibness without using Wish to replicate glibness.

    Another one for best counterspeller could be clockwork soul sorcerer because of a feature that doesn’t allow you to roll bellow a 10 and you can use sorcery points to turn a failed skill check or save into a successful one

  • @astrogamer927
    @astrogamer927 8 месяцев назад +2

    For the counterspell and dispell magic question, while bard and Abjuration wizard are the most consistant, other options include:
    Wild Magic Sorcerer(Can give themselves advantage on the check), Divination Wizard(can rig the check), Divine soul Sorcerer(Can use guidance and/or Bless to add a d4 to the check).
    If we also including multiclassing for the sake of being able to cast the spell, Soul Knife rouge would be able to add up to a d8, due to adding prof. through lvl 10 abjuration wizard. Also, Cleric can add Guidance/Bless as well
    Chronurgy wizard(lvl 2 and 14 features) and Silvery barbs require reactions and thus cannot be preformed.
    Though the best coulterspell(that I can think of, with no feats) would be: Abjuration Wizard 10, Soulknife Rouge 5, Wild Magic Sorcerer 3, and cleric 1. Thats +6(Abj), +1d8(Soulknife) + 1d4(Guidance) + Advantage(Wild Magic). Or on average, 22.
    Also you can Subtle Spell it too cuz sorcerer. Also this is all in vein cuz u can 9th level Counterspell so yeah.

    • @danpalumbo7108
      @danpalumbo7108 8 месяцев назад

      Couple things on your points:
      -Soul Kniife Rogue can't add their d8. Their ability specifically applies to skill and tool checks that they have prof in. While the abjuration wizard adds prof bonus the check still remains a ability check not a skill/tool check.
      -Divine Soul/cleric- small thing but bless for is saving throws and attack rolls not ability checks so doesn't apply to the check. Guidance would of course work downside is have to use action to have the spell up ahead of time and also eats up concentration.

    • @astrogamer927
      @astrogamer927 8 месяцев назад

      @danpalumbo7108 i guess that wording is fair, I didn't see the "skill or tool" part. And yeah i forget bless isnt ability checks.

    I want a source for the leveled spells question. Partly because I didn't understand anything they said and partly because I'm pretty certain I've heard from every game I've been in or watched that you specifically CANNOT cast two leveled spells on one turn.

    • @Rocker4JCforever
      @Rocker4JCforever 8 месяцев назад

      The limitation comes from casting a Bonus Action spell, not from leveled spells. For example, you can Fireball, Action Surge, and Fireball again, as long as you don't cast a spell as a BA on that turn.
      If you cast a spell as a bonus action, you can't cast a spell as an action unless it is a cantrip. It doesn't even matter if your bonus action spell is a cantrip, too. When you cast Shillelagh (a bonus action cantrip), for example, you still cannot cast a leveled spell as your action.

    Sorcerer can Counterspell better than average because of Magical Guidance to reroll, functionally rolling at advantage for a sorcery point.
    Lore Bard for applying their own Bardic Inspiration to themselves, or Glibness.
    A warlock can also take Glibness and automatically succeed on Counterspell/Dispel Magic checks with 18+ CHA. If they go Fiend subclass, Dark One's Own Luck is hugely beneficial too.
    Abjuration 10/Stars 2 can also auto succeed with 20 INT.

      Everyone can get rerolls somehow, is the point. So the proficiency mod is the differentiator.

    I OBJECT TO THE MAXIMUM DAMAGE QUESTION AT THE END:
    It was previously specified that the enemy was a humanoid, and is therefore a potential target or Hold Person (though hold monster would be available and have the same effect).
    If your simulacrum casted Hold Monster instead of an overchanneled Spirit Shroud and instead overchanneling the 5th level scorching ray, you would deal 1109 damage compared to the aforementioned 1006. And your chance to hit is not reduced, as attacks against a paralyzed creature within 5 feet of said creature have advantage, negating the disadvantage from making a ranged attack within 5 feet.
    Edit: original calculation had an overchanneled 8th level scorching ray which doesn’t work, but a 5th level overchanneled scorching ray actually out-damages the 7th level scorching ray

    • @umbraignis0
      @umbraignis0 8 месяцев назад

      So looking at it, I think the optimal way would be to wish sim double hb curse. Then turn 2 would be to overcast spirit shroud to 7th and sim cast hold person. Then turn 3 cast scorching ray at 8/6th and sim casts it at 8/7th, all rays crit, you get 16 rays with 4d6+6d8+5 and sim gets 17 rays at 4d6 + 5

  • @Princess_Narii

    Btw Magical weapons deal ofcourse a specific damage type magically.
    But spells always do magical damage of that specific type.
    Could you deal non magical elemental damage.
    In my oppinion, hittng someone with a torch sorching them deals fire damage but its non magical
    Or grabbing an Sharp chunk of ice can deal cold damage but its non magical.
    Tho no creature resists non magical elemental damage types so they never felt the need to differentiate this.

    Would it be more damage to have the simulacrum concentrate on hold person/hold monster assuming the target fails the necessary saves on turn 2 instead of spirit shroud for automatic crits doubling the damage of the player character while still also doing what damage it can without spirit shroud on turn 3
