  • Together with Ronald and Russell Bentley (both from Texas, US) we begin our journey to Donetsk People's Republic that to see what is really going on there.
    We have started our way from Rostov-on-Don, Russia. This is the closest big city of Russia to the border of DPR. Our purpose is to show the life in the city and effects of the war.

    Never expected to see you *there* Sergei! What initiated this trip? Before he popped up on your video I was thinking _Sergei should hook up with "Tejas from Donbass"_ (Russel). Weird, huh? It is clear that DPR & LPR want to be part of Russia, but I've heard that as "rusty remnants of the USSR" (old industrial areas in decay) full of pensioners ready to go on the dole they are not an attractive acquisition. I think (just my opinion) that these areas are insurance to keep Ukraine from ever entering NATO, as one of the stipulations for becoming a NATO member are that no areas of your country can be in dispute... IE, NATO doesn't want to inherit another country's problems. Understandable.

    • @valentinak.5853
      @valentinak.5853 6 лет назад +2

      A trip specifically from Moscow to Crimea by train costs ~3000-5000 rubles for the 'platskart' type, the flight cost starts at ~10000 rubles, so, well, my family prefer the train.

    Bentley is right. I am proud of what my grandfather did in WW2 (101st Airborne). I am proud America did it's part but if one is honest he must acknowledge that it was Russia had the worst part and did the most fighting. The other Allies would have won without Russia but it would have taken until maybe 1947 and millions more casualties. Much respect to Russia from San Antonio, Texas.

    I suspect Russell Bentley from Texas is from Austin, a very Leftist part of the U.S. The U.S. was very much involved in World War II, and, along with Canada, Great Britain, and the French resistance, liberated Northern Africa, Italy, France, Holland, Norway, and Belgium from the Nazis. No one gets all the credit for winning that horrible war. But the war could easily have gone in favor of the Nazis if Hitler had not made the foolish mistake of invading Russia. Maybe he never heard of Napoleon's experiences. The Russians certainly suffered more and lost more lives than the other allies. But everyone did their part to win the war.

      Official data:
      85% of the German armed forces perished on the Eastern Front (in the war with the USSR).
      Together with their satellite (Hungary, Bulgaria, Italy, Sweden, Slovakia, etc ..) about 6 million people. (this is the total loss - missing the missing, fatally wounded, irreplaceable loss).
      Total losses of German troops in the entire 2nd World War - 5.2 million people.
      General data: 85% of German troops perished on the Eastern Front.
      The USSR destroyed 506 German divisions and 107 divisions of Germany's allies (on the Eastern Front).
      On the Western Front, Africa and Asia - the Allies destroyed 146 German divisions.
      The division on the Eastern Front was formed according to the signs - "necessity". For example, on the Eastern Front, the number of aircraft in one army was about 700 pieces, and on the Western Front about 100 pieces.

    • @Ian-yf1rl
      @Ian-yf1rl 6 лет назад

      Alexey thats a lot of death. Sadly many millions more people perished. I think I read one country alone lost 20,000,000-27,000,000. Some folk seem to forget those poor people who were trapped between the socialists of the east and socialists of the west.
      In my opinion, when world wars happen there are no winners. Only losers and bigger losers.

    • @xalekcey
      @xalekcey 6 лет назад +3

      The USSR and the anti-Hitlerite coalition won and the Soviet people also won. There are winners in the war and there are losers.

You may not agree with them, but to unsubscribe from a rare channel where you can find out what life in Russia is really like just because of something like this? Good riddance. It only means you didn't care about Russia to begin with if taking any perspective favouring its stance in international affairs causes a kneejerk rejection.

      The Soviets never bombed Berlin until the last month of the war. 5% of the total...maybe...the Soviet Union produced billions of bullets over the course of the war. Lend-Lease was more than 50% of the important things. Multi-Millions of tons of food. In the first month of the war, 95% of the Soviet Union's Transportation system was destroyed. More than 90% of the Soviets Rail equip was sent by the U.S. along with hundreds of thousands trucks and nearly 18,000 aircraft (mostly transport). along with millions of tons of other vital equip. combined with the fact that Allied bombing, by 1944, dropped German war production by 50% along with destroying a huge amount of Germany's road and rail system. When the Russians entered Germany in January 1945, Germany was a heap of rubble.

      Mike O'Leary PhD dear, citizens of Donetsk are russians, its their nationality. It doesnt mean that their military is from russian federation. But you can call their military russian, its ok, as they are russians.

      Срђан Ранђеловић yes you did a good job listening to Putins national speech. Good boy. Both sides have bad guys I am sure. Russia clearly started the provocation to destabilize their neighbor who was becoming more western. There must be consequences!
