I always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge sir.
I appreciate you, my friend.
glade you like it. I appreciate your feedback and support
Awesome
Thank you my friend. I appreciate your support 👍
Why pipe dope instead of that white tape?
A few years ago I was "freakin' and called Beacon (plumbing)." They charged me over $700 to come to my house, cut the hot and cold lines, and stated that because this type of plastic pipe wasn't legal anymore, they had to disconnect and cap, and couldn't fix. (Ended up being a washer put in wrong a few weeks earlier.) I read up on PEX pipe and Shark Bites, and recently replaced the pipe, added Shark Bite shut-off valves and elbows (and an access panel thanks to Beacon), and hooked up my bathtub after two and a half years. Only cost me a little over $100 for parts AND tools. Love Shark Bite and glad to see your video!
I’m sorry. I once called beacon. Everybody loved bacon they say.. they don’t even charge me for “attempting“ to unclog my main sink pipe. I was shocked
Chuck G. Thanks for taking the time and showing all the details. Great videos .
I appreciate you
Thank you for this! I am very intimidated by the thought of soldering and now I see how I can change out my faucets without having to solder! Big game changer!
Nice 👍
From an old instructor: Excellent teaching. I have found the SharkBite armored flexible hose to be great when replacing a bath unit in a tight space.
Thank you. I appreciate your comment.
Your time and effort in putting this video together is truly appreciated, sir. You have given me new knowledge. THANK YOU!
Glad I could help😉
Well done. The video was not redundant. It was perfectly explained
Thank you. I appreciate your comment
Excellent informative video. Much more clearly shows the installation than when built in situ between the studs.
Thank you very much I appreciate your support
Great instructional video, you have given me the needed confidence to tackle my plumbing project with ease. I must say taking your time in these videos really helps
I really appreciate your support and kind comment 🙏
Thank you so much for such a detailed video! I am one of those people that likes to see EVERYTHING too! After watching this I feel confident to finish the job while my fiancé is gone! Thank you, thank you! 😊

sharp copper ends on the outside or the end going in the sharkbite can knick, cut the rubber seal or slightly damage it in the sharkbite.....especially when using copper....i always debur with sandpaper or a deburring tool, outside, inside and on the face going in
Wow.. . awesome video Claud ,so helpful, thanks for posting
Keith Worrell Thanks for watching. Glade I could help
You are very polite and nice to see that you don’t think everyone knows what you know.I’m a plumber,it doesn’t come to you over night.Thank you for sharing.

He is the best! I really appreciate people like him... willing to share his knowledge. I PERSONALLY know people who are professionals in thier trade and are not interested in sharing what they know. Thank you soooo much for teaching and sharing your skills with others. I really admire how humble he is.
James mcoy Thank you 👍👍
A professional wouldnt put sharkbites in a wet wall theres a bit of knowledge for you my friend 😉
This was the absolute best. Terrific explanation thank you for the video you saved me and my family big time
Nice. Thank you for your comment 👍
You have a very pleasant voice. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for this.
Question: Won't the galvanized & brass going together cause a chemical reaction that will cause corrosion? Would a dielectric fitting work for that application?
I want to go from a 2 handle system to one handle but don't want to sweat copper to connect to the new shower/tub valve. House was done in the 40s & still has very old plumbing.
I got a Delta Monitor Multichoice valve with threaded male outlets/inlets. Since PEX has gotten cheaper I'm going to switch to it but am trying to find the best way to do the tub spout. Tub spout is slip fit so I need something that will work for that (assuming copper is the best).
Also will be installing a brand new tub/shower system in another bathroom & converting a shower/tub to a shower so I will be able to recycle parts.
I really enjoy your videos. You are an awesome teacher!!!! Thank you thank you!!!
I am humbled. I appreciate your support.
Thanks for explanations in detail!
Brian Thornton I appropriate you comment.
Thank you for doing what you do! Love the videos!
I really appreciate you and thank you.
Thank you so much for such a great video! I need to replace the valves in both bathrooms in our first home we just were blessed to be able to buy. I have been so worried about this project but with your help I am confident that I CAN do this! Thank you again, God bless you!
Nice. Glad I could help. I appreciate your comment.
Thanks for the detail. It was very informative and helpful. I am new DIYer. Planning to do this in my cabin which is very far from the city. Thanks, again very helpful. One question I have I very tight spot for the toilet drain how long does a 90 degree 4 inch pipe that is connected to a toilet flange in the floor have to be in drain properly. I only have 6 inches to 7.25 inches at most to work with. With 6 being preferred. Then I have to make 6 foot run of black abs pipe to the man sewer drain line.
Love the detail. I was hesitant on using shark bite inside a shower wall but this saves so much time vs.. sweating copper pipe.
Sharkbite. Good stuff. 😉
Sharkbite is so handy man work
👎🏼
You can also use PEX in a wall. Both have similar lifespans.
Awesome teaching. You need to teach plumbing somewhere. Loved the video. You’re an awesome teacher.
Thank you I appreciate your nice comment.
Thank you for your video. If water pressure is low, where can you adjust on the valve you used in this video. Thanks!
Thank u sir. I learned a lot.
Thank you Claud. Im a visual guy. Verbal instructions can throw me for a loop sometimes. Thank you for the visual💪💪💪
I understand. Me to. 💪
Yes!
It helped me a lot.
Tanks a lot.
WoW! Thank you very much I truely enjoyed the video, I will get started right away on my system. (smile)
Cool
We bought our house 3 years ago. It has the worst bathtub faucets in existence. I've been putting off replacing them just because I did not want to solder. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks and great video!
Glad I could help. 👍
I am so glad I came across your video, it has explained so much that I did not understand about shark bite fittings. I'm getting ready to redo the basement bathroom shower, so these are the things I need to know. Thanks for going slow to show all the details. I will definitely watch more of your videos!
Glad it was helpful! I appreciate your comment 🙏
thank you so much... i think you created this just for me
cheryl blue Lets just say. I get it. I understand. Part of life. Thank for you comment.
Found you just in time. Thanks for the great video!

Great demonstration! Thanx
helped me prepare. Thank you.
👍👍
thank you for sharing and teaching us
I appreciate you 👍
THANKS ..JUST WHAT I NEEDED!
Glad I could help. 😉
Good vid. Thanks. You need to deburr the outside of the of copper pipe also when using sharkbite fittings because that is the surface that passes over the O-ring. Any abrasions on the O-ring will result in a leak developing.
👍
Thank you, God bless you.
I can always use a good Blessing. I appreciate your support. 👍
Thank you for a great video. I feel confident to diy my shower.
Awesome. Glad I could help. I appreciate your feed back. 🙏

Thank you. I appriciate you comment 🙏
thank you for very detail information
glade you enjoyed it. I appreciate your feedback and support
Thanks for the help man, you earned a subscriber.
I appreciate you Zam 🙏
We just installed a water softener. The previous owners never installed a main house supply shutoff. We had to turn off the pump & drain pressure. While it still had water coming out without pressure, we installed a ball valve shutoff. By keeping it open, it pressed on with no problem & we could shut it off immediately to continue the re-routing to complete the installation. All fittings were sharkbite. No leaks. We bought the depth/marking tool to chamfer the PEX pipe & guarantee full insertion.
Nice
Thank You! You just save me a ton of money!
Nice. 👍👍👍
Thank you for such an iinformative and useful video.
For sure. I appreciate your support
I think I am going give this a try...
Muchas gracias por su video excelente MR

Hola tengo un problema yo instalé una pregunta yo instalé una igual y ni me sube el agua me puede ayudar por favor en responder
Thank you. This video saved me a major headache.
Nice. That's what it's all about. I appreciate your feed back
That shower valve does have marks on it indicating hot/ cold and shower/ tub. It's on the black plaster ring that you took off
I’m a female and remodeled my shower from the floor up and used shark bite! I love it. I’m getting ready to install my new whirlpool bathtub and out a new faucet and handles and I will definitely use these again!
Nice. I appreciate your feed back. 👍👍
Never put shark bite in an enclosed wall cavity. At bare minimum I would cut an access panel where you make the connections so you can make sure they are not leaking every 3-6 months. Shark bite is handy but should never be out in an enclosed environment where it cannot be seen. The failure rate is just too high.
If sharkbite was so unreliable, why are so many used, yet still don't leak? Plumbers forget to mention, everything can leak of not installed properly.....even sweating copper joint can leak over time.
@@Lawman-196 I agree. Ive used them for nearly 20 years with NO failures!!
Thanks I learned a lot
Nice. Glad I could help. I appreciate you.
Thank you Claude
I appreciate you my friend 🙏
Good job thanks for your help sir.
Question how would you take the shark bite that you attached on your hot side that you don’t see the pipe connected?
Believe it or not they make a tool that will fit. I should have covered removal of shark bite😣
Wow! So now I find you. Thanks for the video. Much needed. Now please help. Our delta plate is not reaching the ceramic wall.
Sounds like the depth of your valve is not correct
thx for making this video
No problem. I appreciate you as well.🙏
Thank you!
Glad I could help. I appreciate you.
Appreciate the wisdom
thanks!

Best video ever. Thanks dude
Awesome. I appreciate you👍
So much detailed information just in time for one if my reno's. Thank you so much for those valuable instructions. I'm interested in knowing the length for the shower pipe also.
edward buckingham Shower head 6'6' from the floor. Shower and tub the same.
I'm doing the same project. Thanks much.
Nice 👍🏻
Thank you very much, good video 😊
God bless you for the insight
Thank you 🙏
those plasric inserts are for pex to strengthen it so it doesnt collapse. you take them out when using copper.
You can, but my understanding from SharkBite is that you don't need to take them out when you use copper either.
The other brands you have to take them out for copper. Not sure, although never tried to take out insert on sharkbites brand
It's correct. They are superfluous when using copper. They are for pex use only
Amazing video!
Thank you very much👍
Thanks mate for the great video!
I appreciate you 🙏
I'm hearing a lot of ppl saying to not use a connector like these inside the wall. I want to convert my copper to PEX. I've heard that you would want to solder a female piece to both copper water pipes and then convert the rest to pex fittings. I'd like to avoid soldering. Is it save to use the 90 degree connectors, one connected to copper, the other end fitted with PEX inside the shower wall to avoid the extra work and materials needed to solder? Thanks!
Great job man 👍👍👍🩷💚
Thank you. I appreciate your comment
Good Job Thank you
I appreciate you.👍
Shark Bite sells a tool for reaming CPVC and marking the depth of the fitting by size ( 3/4 , 1/2 etc.) costs $10.00 makes the marking process much faster. I would use the tool on copper also. (just to mark pipe) Thank you for the video. : )
Cool
Wow Thanks
Thank you sr that is exactly what I need it!! Thank you for the video
Glad to help
I like the video. Yes you help me thank you.
Nice. Appreciate the feed back
Great video! Does the nipple need teflon tape or pipe dope when installing? Thank you.
Yes it does 👍
The plastic insert on the Shark Bite is only for pex. I remove it when using copper or cpvc. Grab ahold of insert with needle nose pliers and pull out of fitting. Be sure to grab the insert well so I comes out in one piece.
That's what I was told. If you're using cooper take out the plastic insert
Absolutely not!
@@nouche-30064 The shark bite website even says you can remove it.
Than you Sr
🙏
Great video! - But I have a question concerning how deep in the wall should the head and valve be? I mean how far behind the face of the stud do I mount the shower head and the valve so that after the backboard and tile is installed I will have the correct amount sticking out? Can't seem to find a video on the placement. It looks like maybe you nailed a 2x4 at the back of the wall studs? So if I do that will a delta shower valve be at the right distance? Thanks!
Good question, all new tub and shower faucets/Valves come with a plastic protected to prevent damage to the valve when being handled or transported. That same protected plastic is also used as a depth indicator showing you how far the valve should be in the wall, all valves are different. Hope this helps.
Good teacher calm too
Thank you. I appreciate your kind comment. 👍
How will you remove the sharkbite 90s from the adapter? There is no room to work with
VERY GOOD VIDEO.
Thank you so much. I appreciate you
How long is the pipe for the tub spout?
Sure. ruclips.net/video/27ejHVYu86w/видео.html
If you had a fiberglass tub /shower would you just leave the plastic that you first took off and butt that to the outside of fiberglass
Good video. Never heard the gooseneck pliers though
Yeah kind of made that up😖 Thanks for the support
shark bite fitting do not require soldering with copper pipe?
The only ones that don't like sharkbite, are the plumbers that don't want people to do it themselves.
Some plumbers yes, brainwashing is another reason. I feel shark bites are great. That's why I post this video. It gives none plumbers another alternative to fix themselves and save money.
How do you adjust the depth of the 2x4 bracing that holds the female ips connector to the threaded pipe for the tub spout?
Rip the 2x4 bracing out with a saw saw and install a new one.
Pipe dope or pipe wrap tape to put connections on valve body? does it matter. I put pipe tape on and before final connections I figured I better ask. thanks
To me it don't, to some plumbers it does. Only fittings I would not use tape on, is any type of plastic pipe.
I got a Tectite, that is similar to the Sharkbite. But a connector I got, doesn't have the plastic insert, for the PEX. Does that mean I can only use the copper pipe on it? Does the PEX have to have the insert?.
Thank you.
Sorry, but I'm not sure. I never used Tectite, I don't know the compairances
@@theartofplumbing It looks just like Sharkbite. I went back to home depot, and found the proper ones. The one needed a threaded to PEX adapter.
@@shark70007000 Cool
Thank you very much for taking the time to do this. It was very helpful.
I live in a remote rural area in an old house where nothing was done to code. The house had the same plumber for about 50 years but he passed away several years ago and I can't find a good licensed plumber that will come out here. I need to rectify some mistakes and do some upgrades to the home. Right now we have 2 and 3 handle showers & tubs. I want to convert to single handle Moentrol levers.
1. Have you ever worked with the Moen 3510 IPS valve (it has female IPS)?
2. Have you ever installed Moen Kingsley Moentrol trim?
3. If all of my existing plumbing is 3/4" PVC & CPVC (with short runs of galvanized linking to a tiny bit of copper) would you recommend running 3/4" PEX and just reducing spots that require 1/2" IPS? Or should I just go down to 1/2"? I don't want to reduce my water flow/pressure.
Moen 3510 IPS valve Yes I have those are mostly used in the commercial application. Good strong valve, but no I have never installed one. And the trim I have only when working on the valve, removing and replacing the trim. As far as running pex pipe yes if you want good water pressure. I would recommend running as much 3/4 as you can until you get to the point of 1/2 and you can pick up two plumbing fixture with 1/2 and keep good pressure. The trick is having the volume and that only comes with the larger size pipe. To give you an idea It's like driving down a Highway 4 bigger land's will move traffic along a lot faster than a two-lane. Good luck with your project. :-)
Thanks. So I will just need to find something that will go from 3/4" PEX to 1/2" for some of the connections at the very end?
my cats You can use a 3/4 x 1/2 shark bite coupling.
Thanks! I'll have to look for those.
Nice.
Thank you 🙏
If you cut the pipes 1-7/8 how you take them out if needed. I recommend to cut 1/4 longer to allow space for sneak the orange tool in to take out. How is that?
It’s difficult to remove them with the orange tool. Buy the gianneer disconnect tool.
How long do you estimate the shark bite will hold in place before any problems from it arise? Does the pipe dope (sealant) make it difficult/ impossible to remove the pipe in case a fix is needed? Thanks
Just like any other pipe fitting. If installed properly and no manufacturer defect for many years at least 25. 👍
@@theartofplumbing :-) thank you and have a great day. 👍
I had a Sharkbite fail - I didn’t cut it right or clean it right - I pulled it off - recut the pex and no leak - same connector - not a plumber but love the shark bites
@@yoho1021 Got it. Thx
