Lovely, I enjoy the accent. Long ago I met a lass from Glasgow. I guess it was like the 3 dog night song Joy to the World. I never understood a single word she said but I helped her drink her whisky, ... . I returned to Glasgow recently and had great difficulty checking in, the clerk had a heavy accent. Bother, but a friend from Edinburgh translated. Maybe they switched to women's speak, I dunno. Thank you for bringing memories to life. I hope to take my youngest son there this summer.
My Mother was Scottish and I can still hear her quoting on various suitable occasions: "O, wad some Power the giftie gie us // To see oursels as others see us! // It wad frae monie a blunder free us, // An' foolish notion."
I love this!! Thank you for sharing!! It's beautiful!! I'm American but we traced our family back to the Hamilton clan and Hamilton Scotland. Alba gu Brath!
Loved your poem,Kat. It can be tricky for foreign people, my French wife has been here for a year now and she's starting to get the hang of it. She does think we talk a little fast too. I often teach her the words we a have changed one by one with the English translation to help her on her way! I think Scottish is now becoming her third language!
This coming from a 57 year old American. Don't lose your heritage speak like you're spoken to it's beautiful thing
So lovely, it's always nice to hear from someone "across the pond"!
